can cat allergies cause hives

I've recently been to an allergist because of newly acquired allergies. I'm 43. I developed an allergy to cats in my 20s after having cats since I was a child. I got a new kitten and found that her saliva gave me hives. Since then I've always had a mild cat allergy. I was tested and found allergic to cats and dogs and a mild reaction to milk. Everything else was negative.

) Every tree, grass, pet, dust mites, etc. These allergies cause swelling, breathing issues, sneezing, hives, and the list goes on. I'm 21 years old. Is there a reason behind a sudden drastic allergy change, or is this fairly common?

I LOVE cats with all my heart but in allergist to them :(((((((((( whenever I'm near them I get hives! My allergies might be getting better but I'm not sure. Also I'm going to be working at a animal shelter soon were I have to be around cats and dogs. I was hoping we would have come away with more information, and an actual diagnoses. To add to the mix we just adopted a cat a few weeks ago. My husband and I both have pet allergies, but he's never experienced anything this severe before. So now we're not sure what the cause is. I'm worried that this will happen again, and am looking for more answers before we consider giving away our cat. Any help, or insights would be appreciated!

I got my gallbladder out just about 3 weeks ago, I m just starting to feel back to normal when I have broke out in Hives. Very itching! The dr. did a CAT scan to verify that I didn't have a bile leak because of exaggerated pain and swelling (test was negative for leak) Now hives< could they be related or just bad luck? any ideas?????

Sometimes it’s just one or two hives on the face, arm, back of legs, sometimes it’s a cluster of them. I do have dry skin. They can last anywhere from a few minutes to the next day. I started taking pictures and trying to pay attention but I still can’t figure out what I’m reacting to because it seems to be so broad. I saw an allergist a couple of months ago but he only tested me on some foods, the two top ones I reacted to I don’t even eat, usually. Sometimes my face will suddenly flush too.

t just mean swelling with rashes and itching but an allergic reaction can cause GI problems as well such as Vomiting and Diarrhea it just depends on how your body reacts to the allergen.

Hi, One possibility for your symptoms can be hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. So please get this possibility evaluated. Till then, take some antihistaminic like Benadryl and apply some calamine lotion.

about a week later once i would start to work out and i would sweat my sweat would cause me to break out in hives. he told me to stop taking bactrim and for about a month although i had stopped taking the medicine it would still happen. so whether i take bactrim or not now i get the hives whenever i sweat. what is causing this and how can it stop???

I've been suffering with chronic sinusitis for almost a year and a half - long story short, I ended up with sinus surgery and having tonsils removed. Bad, bad situation - couldn't swallow, couldn't eat, lost a ton of weight etc., etc. I've been doing better but I just can't get my appetite back and my stomach is contantly sick. Hi there, Welcome to the cat community forum. I see you joined Med help recently. I agree with AKC_75. The fact that the sneezing has lasted a month and that there is sometimes mucus when she sneezes makes me suspect an upper-respiratory infection. I would take your fur baby to her vet so your vet can examine her and make sure it isn't an upper respiratory infection which she will need medication to clear it up.
