Common Questions and Answers about Can appendicitis symptoms last for weeks

appendicitis

Avatar f tn I always figured that the symptoms would appear and then the problem would occur, but I have been having these symptoms for a little less than a month, really. The thing is though I'm not sure if my symptoms are enough to match up with an appendicitis.. and it could be other things, maybe. Less severe problems. Anyway, I wanted to put this out there. It's not just the threat of an actual, serious problem, but also the discomfort. Just hope this isn't anything serious.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I've had an appendectomy 8 months ago, but simptoms came back a month ago: pain in the right of my belly, which migrated in the LRQ after about 2 weeks, bloating, pain in the right side during bowel movements, right leg gets a little numb sometimes. Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst.
Avatar m tn Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course? What has prompted my question is that I had two episodes yesterday, one in the morning and a very severe bout in the evening. I keep thinking this will just go away especially when I'm pain free and I forget about it.
Avatar f tn I have all if the appendicitis symptoms ( bloating, diarrhea, constipation, severe abdominal pain followed by vomiting) but aren't these all pregnancy things to? I'm 41/2 weeks.
Avatar m tn Hi, appendicitis as such is more of a clinical diagnosis. In chronic appendicitis what we see may just be thickening of the bowel wall or appendix on a CT scan. But usually the image findings are correlated with clinical symptoms and blood tests. If an acute infection the neutrophils are raised and if due to tuberculosis, the lymphocytes are raised in blood counts.
361454 tn?1312054856 I had tons of pregnancy symptoms with my first two none with number 3. Then at around 8 weeks morning sickness with a vengeance. Good luck and I hope all goes well.
Avatar m tn 6 days ago I got a fever and felt like I had the flu or a bad cold. The following day it got worse and I also had mild stomach aches. I saw my GP who said to rest as it was probably a viral inflection. Since then the abdominal pain has got worse, but the flu symptoms have gone away. I had diarrhoea on one day but my bowel movements seem to be back to normal now, although it does feel hard to pass gas and I do need to strain to pass a bowel movement.
Avatar f tn I'm concerned about what's going on in my body right now. For the past couple of months I've been experiencing abdominal bloating every so often - which in my case isn't all that unusual, as I've had chronic constipation for most of my life. However, it did flare up pretty bad a few weeks ago, and I began to have an 'ache' on my right side, very vague, almost unnoticeable, around the area of the ovary...or sometimes further up.
543435 tn?1282242679 Ok so I posted a little while ago wanting to know if anyone had experience with having a rim enhanced complex cyst....so here is the full story. Had Ct scan 8 months ago for appendicitis and they saw a 1cm complex cyst on left ovary. Dr's performed laparoscopy to remove appendix and checked out the ovary.....said it "looked" fine and left it alone. Fast forward to now. Had follow up CT scan and the complex cysts is still there (now with this rim enhanced stuff??????
Avatar m tn A couple of inches to the right of my naval i have been getting pains over the last 5 weeks. The pain comes on very strong and can range from 3-4 seconds to a few minutes. The frequency of pain also ranges from several times a day to nothing on other days. I have had an Ultrasound done, Xray and blood and urine tests in hospital. All came back negative. I have seen 2 different doctors with 2 different possibilities. I van only say for sure that it is always the same spot the pain shows.
Avatar m tn I took plan B on the last day of my period which was december 25th and starting on the 29th i had soreness in what seems like right above the ovaries, a pain on each side of my abdomen. I also have this pulsating around my belly button and it will shoot down to the right side then give me back pain. I also have headaches and have gotten easily hot and overheated during the night. I know im not pregnant because ive testes and JUST came off my period and it was normal. Could this be my apendix?
Avatar f tn I'm not really sure if I'm in the right place her but I'm becoming concerned. Last night I started having a dull pain on the right side of my abdomen, across from my belly button, it went away today but came back around lunch time. It went away again and now at 2am it has come back. I pressed on my stomach a bit and it send a shooting pain through my belly button area. Its not SUPER painful, just more of a discomfort.
Avatar m tn The pain in appendicitis generally starts around the umbilicus and moves to the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, pelvic infections, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
Avatar f tn For 2 weeks now my 14 year old daughter has been having lower right abdominal pain, fever, dizziness, weakness, and nausea. We have been to the ER twice and our doctor three times. She has had a CBC (normal), 2 external ultrasounds (normal), 1 internal ultrasound (normal), CT scan (normal). Noone can figure out what is going on. She is frustrated and so am I.
Avatar m tn Hello, Going by your symptoms four possibilities are coming to my mind.Firstly,it can be pelvic inflammatory disease which can be caused by an infection of the pelvic organs. As you are a female, so this possibility is high. It can also be due to fibroid uterus or ovarian cysts.Ultrasound abdomen and cervical swabs are needed to rule them out. Secondly, possibility of irritable bowel syndrome(which you are already having) is also there. Diagnosis is made on basis of clinical evaluation.
Avatar m tn When I eventually reached out for help in early September I was rushed to the E.R. for a possible appendicitis. The CT Scan in the E.R. showed that I had borderline appendicitis due to the appendicitis not filling with the contrast fully and the mesenteric lymph nodes of the area being “shoddy”. I was given Cipro and Flagyl for two weeks to see if that would fight the infection. After an ultrasound, they found my appendix healed completely.
Avatar f tn now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it? one of my friend got operated last month, she was having the same pain but ultrasound didnt show anything even then she got operated n now is fine!
Avatar n tn I also have some pain pain in my back, opposite the pain on the front. My last menses was on March 23rd and lasted for 4 days. I take BP meds (labatelol) for moderately high BP, I have been diagnosed with PCOS, and was prescribed Victoza for that about 5 months ago. I take a prenatal vitamin every day. I am afraid I have appendicitis.
