Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm without examination, but it sounds like gastroenteritis. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.Dizziness is caused by loss of water and electrolyte imbalance because of vomitings. Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken. Antimicrobial therapy is indicated for some bacterial gastroenteritis infections.
Avatar n tn Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis. Gastroenteritis can be produced from viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, contaminated food or water, food poisoning, use of harsh laxatives, change in bacteria that normally live in the intestinal tract, chemical toxins in certain plants, seafood, or contaminated food, and heavy metal poisoning.
Avatar f tn Hi, Common causes for dizziness with nausea include high blood pressure, vertigo, food poisoning, smoking, depression or anxiety, gastroenteritis etc. Certain drugs like antibiotics, birth control pills etc can cause these symptoms. You should get a check of your pressures with 3 consecutive readings for further conclusion on this. It could even be due to low blood sugars. Hope this helps. Best.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr HHH, I'd posted a question a few months ago in regards to my daughter. She has a blood transfusion (4 units) and I was concerned about possible HIV exposure. After being told by you no worries because everything is tested thoroughly now but if I was still worried to talk to her Dr. I spoke with her Dr. about my concerns. He tested her at 3.5 weeks and it was negative. He also told me no worries he was 99.
1391531 tn?1289164143 I know that is why i asked the vet he said when a vet says stomach flu is not a medical term it is not even a true influenza virus but it actually called gastroenteritis() is medical name for it) it can be cause by bateria worms anything. He said stomach flue is not really flu it used to describe the symtoms he was showing he said said Dr even use this in humans to describe their symtoms.
Avatar f tn Finally, your symptoms do not suggest a new HIV infection, which does not cause gastroenteritis as the only problem; as you seem to know, you didn't have any of the usual symptoms of ARS. But most important, your negative test results, especially the one at 7 weeks, prove you didn't catch HIV. A negative rapid test, either fignerstick or oral fluids, is just as reliable as a lab-based test. Something other than HIV is the cause of your gastroenteritis.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I can definitely say that it's not a lack of stomach acid. Frequently, when I burp, I can feel a mild burning in my oesophagus and a few times have actually burped up a bit of acid.
Avatar f tn There really are two issues here; this forum can deal with one but not the other. The first is the cause of your abdominal symptoms, and I cannot answer whether any of them could have been due to undiagnosed chlamydia. Certainly the gall bladder problems were not due to chlamydia. Your lower genital tract infection problems 2 years ago might have been, but the antibiotics used for such infections often would treat chlamyida even if undiagnosed.
Avatar f tn Hi I have always suffered with mild discomfort about 3inches above my belly button. The discomfort is central and sometimes slightly to the right side. This has been going on for 20years. My GP said I had a duodenal ulcer and treated it with omperazole this was 15 years ago. Jumping forward to present day and my symptoms have changed over the last few weeks. I now have a more dull discomfort that is ok when resting, however when I move it can be quite painful.
569711 tn?1216876935 Hi, The stomach pain could be due gastritis, gastroenteritis, and viral infection of the stomach. It could also be food poisoning which can cause stomach pain and vomiting. You may have sprained your neck during sleep. I would suggest you to continue with the heat and ice therapy and take a mild OTC painkiller. For your stomach issues please consult a physician as you need to undergo a physical exam.
Avatar n tn I went to the hospital and the doctor after some research and a typical blood test told me that it is a gastroenteritis . Please help me cause since then I can't sleep , I am always thiniking of my family, my son and I am going to lose my mind.
Avatar n tn Hey, i hope you are doing well now, the probiotics can help reduce flatulence as there are many reasons for excessive gas(gastoenteritis), it takes time to find the root cause, you should consult your doctor, meanwhile, you can also take the Fart pills, what I have heard and seen in youtube videos, these tablets works and can reduce the smelly flatulence and bloating. You can search for flatuscents on google.
Avatar f tn Stomach cramps with antibiotics are not uncommon (the antibiotics make the muscles of the intestine move more quickly, and can cause loose stool as well). However, fever and itching can be a sign of an allergy. It is possible to develop an allergy at any time in your life, even to an antibiotic you have taken before. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
1770029 tn?1325802355 Hi and sorry you are ill. There is no such thing as "stomach flu" meaning the influenza virus does not cause flu in the stomach. It is considered gastroenteritis. The symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, low grade fever up to 100 degrees and possible cramps are caused by many things, virus or bacterial. However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination.
Avatar n tn Hi, for three days I have had watery bright yellow diarrea, intense stomach pain, headache, and I haven't been able to eat anything, and can barely drink liquids. The pain is intense, it feels like there's a knot in my intestines, I feel really weak. I'm drinking electrolytes as much as I can, and I have regular medication that when I take it it makes the pain worse. Should I go to the ER or try to ride it out?
Avatar f tn Hi, I had unprotected sex about 12 months ago and 4 weeks later had severe abdominal pain, vommitting, and maybe a mild fever?! i went to my doctor and she said it was likely to be gastorentitis, as it was december and there was alot of it going around in the winter months, and i did a urine test while i was in the doctor and she said no bacteria had been detected and that was good.
