Avatar n tn I at 41 in September of 2001 suffered two strokes, a heart attack, and lost my vision within a thirty day span. I had been on hormone replacement for ninty days. While hospitalized from the heart attack I was diagnosed with a clotting disorder that was evedently brought out by the hormones. I cannot get anyone to explain to me what my disorder is. I am told there are not many people with Phosphatidyl Serine, but I was not screened before I was put on the hormones.

Avatar n tn My mother had several heart attacks, bypass surgery, and died at 64 of heart failure. Of course I ate too much fat, didn't exercise enough, and was a workaholic, which is pretty stupid now that I look back at it. Yes, I take about $425.00 US of meds and $200.00 of supplements each month. I don't know which, if any, of the supplements help, but I think that it's important to believe that some of them may be helping. I'm also taking the Linus Pauling Vitamin-C regimen.

Avatar f tn Btw, I am a critical care nurse, so maybe a little paranoid as we always expect the worst, but have seen 20/30 something women go into complete heart failure and needing LVADs. I have lots of cardiac issues in my family-dad needed 4 vessel bypass when he was 50 from MI. Should I insist on Cath, or other tests more reliable, show whats actually going on???
Avatar f tn My mother and all the women in my family have gotten anxiety/panic attacks/depression when they went through menopause. 183202 tn?1219857259 Hello Doctor(s). I had a rather frightening episode last week that has left me baffled and confused about the past diagnosis of suffering from merely "Panic Attacks and Panic Disorder" as most of my previous doctors have claimed, and left me to question what REALLY is going on with me… Let me tell you a little about myself. AHEM. My name is Crystal, and I am now 24 years old.
1979414 tn?1337806949 Every time I just so much as feel an irregular beat I reach for my pulse to make sure it's still beating. This morning I was woken up in a panic around 5am and couldn't breathe. My heart was pounding and I became lightheaded. dizzy, and hot. I grabbed some water and walked around my house to calm down and my heart started racing probably like 130 to 140 and I did some breathing exercises to calm down.
Avatar n tn Resting heart rate between 58 and 65. Sitting heart rate between 68 and 78. Standing heart rate 80 and 90. Walking heart rate 90 and 100. Would the above numbers be about average? Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn You were so scared for your life of getting them when you started, that you slowly developed a compulsion to think like that, to let your heart race and your mind go out of control. But you are in control, and you always were. Give it time. Get some professional help if nothing else. Later all.
Avatar m tn In an average of 10 years of follow-up, 932 cases of heart attacks occurred in the women with no history of heart disease and 269 cases in the other. In the first group, use of multivitamins was directly linked with a 27% reduced risk of a heart attack. That protection rose to 30% if you combined multivitamins with other supplements. But the number for supplements other than multivitamins was only a seven-percent reduced risk.

The researchers compared deaths in the people with the highest intakes to deaths in people with the lowest to calculate the increased risk.
Avatar n tn I had severe disease in 2 arteries, and I mean severe. I've had 8 procedures in one leg, and one in the other. I've never had any problem. If there is a problem in a procedure, it's more than likely going to be due to human error. All my procedures have been performed at a training/research hospital and a consultant is always in the room watching carefully. If he sees any possible cause for concern, he shouts STOP and takes over.
Avatar m tn I just read an article that stated among other things: "In 65% of men and 47% of women symptons of cardiovascular disease is heart attack or sudden death. Most artery flow disrupting events occur at locations with less than 50% of lumen narrowing. Typical heart attack occurs at locations with about 20% of stenosis. Cardiac stress testing generally only detects lumen narrowing of ~75% or greater - some say nuclear stress tests go as low as ~50%." a.
Avatar n tn Last week, the Cardio doc vetoed getting a tooth pulled but my DDS and Oral surgeon said it was so decayed that this in itself can hurt the heart, so they pulled it. They told me to continue the Plavix. I did. They did not stitch the area thus avoiding more bleeding. I did great. In fact this was the first time I hardly bled with getting this molar pulled. The other 2 times, I was not on Plavix and I bled a lot more. Maybe the "no stitches" this time was the factor.
Avatar n tn I had afib back in April and TRUST ME, there is no doubt about it if you are in afib. Your heart will feel like you just ran a marathon, it will be beating as hard as it has ever beaten and as fast as it has ever beaten. Amost like it is going to gallup right out of your chest and your pulse will be all over the place and almost too fast to even count. If your pulse is normal, you are not in afib.
Avatar n tn I had my first panic attack at 26, couldn't breathe, heart racing, tingling in hands, so I went to the ER, checked myself in as "I am having a heart attack" -- diagnosis was anxiety and I have been on meds ever since (now 42). Through meds and seeing a psychologist to get to the root of the problem which was a loss at the age of nine (my dad), I am now able to control the hyperventilation, racing heart, etc. The meds in combination with therapy have both helped.
Avatar m tn The safety of spirulina in pregnant and nursing women, young children, and individuals with kidney or liver disease has not been determined.
Avatar n tn The last attack I had was last week walking into a Frame Shop. This pain started seemingly in my right carotid area (first time in this area) and quickly built up in the upper right chest area. (this is normally where it starts, the upper right Chest Area) I quickly left the store and got to the car and took a Nitro. From start to finish, the pain was gone in about 90 seconds. Last year, it lasted almost an hour and I drove home with this pain and laid down.
Avatar f tn I dont know what i got, But it prompted me to see a cardio in the first place. I was minding my own business fast asleep in tenerife on holoday, and was awoken up with heart flutters, my heart was all over the place, just skipping beats every singe beat, i shot out of bed, walked round for a bit, still carried on, took my pulse was beating really fast and fluttering, i woke my partner up, scared me to bits.. it calmed down, i was wheezy, and scared, managed to get back to sleep..
233488 tn?1310696703 One such test is a Heart CT Scan. This relatively quick and painless examination can measure calcium deposits in the heart arteries. These calcium deposits are indicative of plaques in the coronary arteries. A normal value is zero but numbers over a 100 are associated with increasing risks of heart disease including angina, heart attacks and cardiac death. St. Luke’s Hospital offers Heart CT tests for $50 which is usually not covered by insurance. Tests can be scheduled by calling XXXXXX.
572651 tn?1333939396 Studies have shown that during these times when estrogen levels are high, women have fewer chest pain attacks.6, 7 In addition, smokers tend to have lower levels of nitric oxide in their blood vessels than nonsmokers, and smoking is a major risk factor for coronary spasm. However, there is also research suggesting that the nitric oxide theory doesn’t fully explain Prinzmetal’s angina.
Avatar n tn I have been over indulging in chocolate, this triggers hot flashes as well. As I type, when I move I feel the pulsation in my head and chest. I moved almost three months ago and have not completed unpacking boxes. I have no energy to do anything. I laid here in the bed and just cried because I know that something is going on but I don't know what. I feel terrible. I am normally an outgoing person that thrives off of helping others. I do not have the desire to do what I do best.
Avatar n tn They have a way of coming and going and getting you all confused. Thats where a doctor comes in and runs the test. Go to the doctor with knowlege and they will help you more.
