I also felt bad joint pain and gained a significant amount of weight during the month I was on Bystolic (about 10 to 15 pounds). I researched Bystolic and found that all these symptoms occur in other people who take Bystolic, and so I decided to get off of it (with the permission of the other doctors). I gradually weaned off of the medicine over a period of a little over two weeks. I stopped taking it on June 16.
I've been on bystolic for about a month and a half. I've had some dizziness and a little fatigue. No problems sleeping or anything like that, though. I was previously on metoprolol and had awful nightmares, way worse dizziness and light headedness, heavy leg sensations, etc. Bystolic has been way better for me. Best of luck to you!

ve been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure).
I've also been told by my GP that, if I find myself with a rapid heart rate or back in A-fib, I can take another 2.5mg dose right then, since it's such a small dosage.

I'm guessing that my doctor thinks my heart palpitations are not considered an irregular heartbeat? I'll ask him but I found this a little scary.
you need to lay off the coffee, tea, chocoate and sugars but especially anything with caffine or alcohol in it... both will really speed up your heart rate.. and hopefully your not drinking any of those energy drinks //they will destroy your heart....I was a banker almost 40 years.. had high bp and atril fibrillation... got the afib fixed 3 years ago with a heart ablation... doing fine.... my advise would be to take care of your ticker problems now and not ignore them....
s office were done by a human. During my visit with my Doctor, he changed my BP medicine from 50MG of Atenolol to 5MG of Bystolic. Since a few days after the change, I often feel very flushed in the face, forgetful, confusion, seem to lose my train of thought more frequently, change in bowel movement.......With all that said, I guess my major question is are these some of the side effects when taking Bystolic? Should I go back to my Doctor and request he put me back on Atenolol?
My doctor suggested bystolic. It has worked very well for the last year, I have been very pleased with it. In fact, I didn't switch my insurance this year because the alternative company did not want to authorize the use of the bystolic (it's a lot more expensive). I have had no side effects to speak of, much less than the atenolol. I would certainly give it a shot.
Recently my doc placed me on the Beta Blocker Bystolic. Week one was 5mg. Week 2 was 10mg and week three was the final ramped up dose of 20mg. I was fine on the 5 and 10 mg tablets but felt like crap in the morning after taking the 20mg tablet. The doc allowed me to cut the 20mg tablet in half until our next apt at which time he prescribed Carvedilol 25 mg twice a day. Anyone have any insight as to why he might have done that?
I started taking Bystolic and the headaches are reduced to 2-3 times a month. I am fairly certain, however, that the Bystolic has caused joint and muscle pain especially in my knees. Is anyone else taking Bystolic experiencing this same side effect?
I'd definitely have a very long discussion with my doctor before taking bystolic. It's very hard on the cardiovascular system. It's my personal opinon that there are much better and safer drugs available.
peggy. I had great succes with the PAC's with Bystolic. They were reduced to just a little "gas" in the chest. Very good for that purpose.
Please don't stop taking a medication like that without asking your doctor about it. Even if you stop against their advice, they can tell you whether it's safe to stop suddenly or what procedures to follow to get off it.
Bystolic has not been shown to cause ED in studies, but there apparently have been some spontaneous, voluntary reports of it happening.
My Doctor game me a months worth of Bystolic, which is a beta blocker. My resting heart beat is @ 48-52 and up moving around it is @ 60. I work out two- three times a week, lifting and cardio. I am a very strong 55 yr old, in really good shape. A muscular 230 lbs.
My worry is my heart beat is too slow for Bystolic. One of their warnings is not to take it if you have a slow heart beat, is mine too slow?
