bupropion sr vs xl

I have been on sr 150 for two months now and just switched to xl 300 as the sr was not doing anything for me. Should I be expecting a change for the better or are they the same?

My husband has been taking Bupropion HSL SR 150mg for a few months and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the Bupropion XL 150mg he was taking for a few years before he was switched because, the pharmacy said, they could not get the Bupropion XL 150mg at that time. My husband has dementia. He takes the Bupropion in the morning along with his Aricept and Exforge (for blood pressure). He gets drowsy right after taking his pills and I think it may be the Bupropion HSL SR causing this.

I've been taking Bupropion(generic) for 3 months. I've tried 300mg-XL, 2x150mg-SR, and both times (though I'd take the morning dose at 6AM) had a hard time falling asleep at night, tossing around in bed an hour or so. I normally don't have a sleeping problem. So, I now take only one 150mg-SR around 7AM and no afternoon dose. I can fall asleep fine now, but my energy runs out in the late afternoon ...

Is anyone getting ringing in the ears from taking Generic Wellbutrin(Bupropion sr ) 150 mg. Here is my situation I have been on amitriptiline 25 mg 4 years then went up to 50 mg for 3 years. I started taking only one 150 mg of bupropion sr this is my 5 day. Can I stop taking the amitriptiline with no withdrawls after only 5 days of Bupropion? or has it not been long enough. I hoping that I can stop the amitriptiline by taking the bupropion sr in place of the amitriptiline.

Gary, I have read all over the place that Bupropion SR can cause breakthrough bleeding and start the cycle early as well. I was trying to find out if this will be ongoing or a med start up side effect, nobody really mentioned when or if it stops. Btw, all my gyno, blood work and hormone tests are very recent. Even though I am 49, I show no signs of pre menopause so it is definitely the medication. I will be seeing a phsyciatrist is a few hours, hopefully he can answer that question.

I was very recently prescribed Wellbutrin XL, after trying several medications that have not helped [including Wellbutrin SR]. When I saw my doctor, she simply said 'I'm putting you on Wellbutrin twice daily' and I assumed it would be the SR. But what I was given was XL, with the instructions to take it twice a day [morning and around noon]. My doctor's office is closed today, or I would have asked her. I did ask the pharmacist, and he said that yes, this is okay.

With me the Celexa just killed my libido and had no desire for anything. My doctor then weaned me off the Celexa and put me on the Bupropion XL. He started me for 7 days on 150 mg and then went to 300 mg. Everyone is different but the Bupropion gave me back my libido and still keeps my depression in check. I do recall my doctor saying the Bupropion can take a few weeks to get the full effect since I had already been on the Celexa.

I am suffering from I believe depression I have problems sleeping this has recently started wierd thoughts and its very disturbing, I feel said and hopeless my doctor put me on Bupropion and I felt better the first day the next day I eel over active different? Have any one taken Bupropion and whats your reactions?

Is it possible for hot flashes to go away with taking only 150 mg of bupropion sr. I know from what I read it can cause them, but I already have them pretty severe, and it seems better is this possible?

I was prescribed 300 mg xl of bupropion for anxiety that comes from a neurlogical problem in my eyes called Nystagmus. I think side effects of bupropion cause blurred vision and problems with one eye not moving in conjunction with the other which is horrible in addition to Nystagmus. I've lived with this because I was told bupropion is the least likeliest of pills to cause sexual disfunction. Is this true?

my hormones were low so dr put me on hormone pills and thyroid pills,i haad been on wellbutrin sr about 1 year 300 mg to counteract sexual side effects from prozac,it didnt help though,so my dr changed me from 300 wellbutrin sr to 450 mg xl,tonight for the first time in ages i feel kind of dizzy..ondering if it might be to high of a change over on the wllbutrin,,hoping after prozac is out of system i will have a sex drive any info would help or has anyone switched from the sr to the xl?

Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you that there shouldn't be any contraindication to taking Ibuprofen, Acetominophen or Aleve with those two medications. Hope that helps!

I don't think XL and SR and really different. I'm not really sure why they have both. I take 150 of XL and it makes me feel more energetic. Maybe consider what time of day you take it, If you take it with food or not, etc. Let your doc know even if it goes away.

I have been taking bupropion XL 300 once a day for about 2 months. I had been getting my prescription filled at our local walgreens. My insurance has "forced" me to go on a mail order drug program. (they wont pay for my prescriptions if i dont which is over $200) I started taking the mail order pharmacies bupropion for about 2 weeks same dosage and name... pills look different though.

Changed antidepressants 3 weeks ago from Lexapro to Bupropion Xl 150... Bad insomnia hit this week... up for over 36 hours. They gave me Lunesta 3mg. I have taken 2 nights in a row and sleep well. I also take bupropion xl and was taking olanzipine. I have stopped the olanzapine, after long term use. Coming off the olanzapine, I have had more anxiety and more emotion, and have not slept very well. After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110. The doc has added on amlodipine also. I am still on the bupropion xl but now am titrating up on lamotrigine.
