Common Questions and Answers about Bupropion generic name

wellbutrin

Avatar f tn Is anyone getting ringing in the ears from taking Generic Wellbutrin(Bupropion sr ) 150 mg. Here is my situation I have been on amitriptiline 25 mg 4 years then went up to 50 mg for 3 years. I started taking only one 150 mg of bupropion sr this is my 5 day. Can I stop taking the amitriptiline with no withdrawls after only 5 days of Bupropion? or has it not been long enough. I hoping that I can stop the amitriptiline by taking the bupropion sr in place of the amitriptiline.
Avatar f tn There seems to be a general consensus that the generic bupropion and the Name Brand Wellbutrin are quite different. Why doesn't everyone that comments on taking on or the other mention if they are taking the generic or name brand? I think if they did we would get a much better idea of the differences.
1325668 tn?1294444126 Bupropion is the generic name for Wellbutrin. Years ago it had some success and I even know a few who quit using it. I would imagine, because it is also an antidepressant it might cause dizziness. It may take a few days to adjust and if it persists I would talk to your doctor. Good luck on your quit and if you need any support, we are here for you.
Avatar n tn Buproprion is just the chemical name for the brand name Wellbutrin. Buproprion SR means Substained Released. Indeed the generic could be not working, I've seen this happen in some people. Better check this out with his doctor.
Avatar n tn Zyban is a very effective medicine to help stop smoking. You need to take it for 10-14 days before it starts to work, so pick a date - say 2 weeks away - that you want to quit smoking, and start taking the Zyban immediately. Zoloft is NOT used for smoking cessation - Zoloft is almost exclusively used for depression, though sometimes it can be used for chronic pain as the pain often depletes the body's ability to deal with stress.

4951398 tn?1365456743 Started Generic Wellbutrin 150 SR almost 2 weeks ago. Only taking 1 per day prescribed by a GP. Dose will probably change after my first actual phsyciatrist appt. this week. Question is: I got my period for the normal 5 days and have been spotting for 5 MORE DAYS AND COUNTING! Is this one of the "start up" side effects or a permanent thing???
Avatar n tn The switched to cymbaltor, due to high costs (even with insurance) of this medication is wanting to switch to somethig that is less expensive and that has a generic available. What about Wellbutrin or do you have any other suggeations?
Avatar m tn * Nonstimulant medication, such as the antidepressant bupropion (Wellbutrin and generic) or atomoxetine (Strattera), which is not available as a generic.
950277 tn?1247274551 Ask your doc for Wellbutrin or generic bupropion SR (I have taken both, there are absolutely no difference and generic is cheaper). Hope you'll feel better!
5050843 tn?1362870326 took half my pill for 3 nights and on the 4th morning I started 150mg of Wellbutrin (Bupropion). This Monday will be 2 weeks that I have been on the Bupropion and it has been a living hell so far. The panic attacks have came back, I'm very irritable, short fused and cry at the drop of a dime-then immediately feel guilty afterwards.
Avatar m tn Dopamine Receptor Agonist - Dostinex (Caborgoline generic). That is what I take for prolactin producing pituitary tumor. Is that what you are looking for?
Avatar n tn I've been taking Bupropion(generic) for 3 months. I've tried 300mg-XL, 2x150mg-SR, and both times (though I'd take the morning dose at 6AM) had a hard time falling asleep at night, tossing around in bed an hour or so. I normally don't have a sleeping problem. So, I now take only one 150mg-SR around 7AM and no afternoon dose. I can fall asleep fine now, but my energy runs out in the late afternoon ...
7001009 tn?1386963933 SO, overall (disregarding manufacturer) I have been on 300mg of Bupropion (generic) for 55 days (almost 8 full weeks). Of those 8 full weeks I have been on Actavis's version of 300mg XL for just over 5 weeks. It has most definitely been a rollercoaster and this past week (week 8) has been very difficult - malaise, lethargy, and exhaustion with brief stints of intense happiness and energy which can last anywhere from 1 to 3-4 hours.

Avatar n tn I am taking the generic Wellbutrin called bupropion at 150mg a day. Will I lose or gain weight while being on 150mg? Is burpropion very different from Wellbutrin? Like are the side effects different in anyway? If I increase my dose to 300mg a day instead of 150mg will I lose more weight?
1134609 tn?1269272200 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
Avatar n tn (they wont pay for my prescriptions if i dont which is over $200) I started taking the mail order pharmacies bupropion for about 2 weeks same dosage and name... pills look different though. (I assume they are just from another manufacturer) Since i have been taking them I have been getting bad headaches, a MAJOR loss of appetite, Im tired and irritable and I had a mini anxiety attack last night over nothing. The weirdest thing has been the fact that I am getting my period again.
Avatar f tn I've been on 100 mgs (twice a day) of bupropion sr (generic) & I started a couple weeks before xmas 09. I've lost about 20 lbs since then. Honestly, I used to thnk I was crazy for thinking it was making me....stupider I guess. I'm becoming more convinced. After a couple months I noticed my memory got a lot worse...like I hit my head pretty bad yesterday (which I often due, due to just being clumsy) but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it.
Avatar f tn i am taking bupropion hydrochloride xl 150mg and it says do not chew, i was wondering what would happen if i did. i have a brother that recreationally uses drugs and i want to be sure he would not want to take my meds away from me.
Avatar n tn sounds like they started you out at a very high dosage-- the usual route is to start at a lower dose and titrate upwards as the needs require. that could be one thing, starting at such a high dose, that causes your side effects. You don't say how long you've been taking it-- but the longer you take a med the more accustomed to it your body becomes and usually the less side effects you'll notice.
Avatar f tn Doctor has tried me on 2 other meds and now I am trying Wellbutrin 150XL. Generic Bupropion.. Only taken it for two days now so I don't know how it is going to work yet. Did I understand that you are taking 150 mg three times a day? Is yours XL? Just curious. How long have you been taking the Wellbutrin? Wish you well. Hope your meds work for you.
