suboxone

Avatar m tn I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar m tn When I saw my pain management consultant a few months ago he put me on Buprenorphine Transdermal Patches, 10mg. ! patch to be put on for 7 days. This is in addition to the Oxycontin. The patch has recently been increased to 20mg. I have recently started reducing the Oxycontin in the view of coming off it totally. I have so far reduced it by 10mg. My Dr hase prescibed me Oxynorm 5mg, once a day, incase I experience withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn 1.) fentanyl patch 2.) buprenorphine patch 3.) lidocaine patch There all really different and they each have pros and cons, as well as a big spectrum of side effects -- for example, in the forums here, I see people mentioning the hell they go through withdrawing from fentanyl. And at the same time, it looks like withdrawing from buprenorphine (or any opiate for that matter) is no walk in the park, either.
Avatar f tn Suboxone contains the active medication buprenorphine. There is a great deal of emotion around this and other sites over Suboxone; I encourage you to listen primarily to medical professionals, as some of the other opinions have taken on zealotry that is more likely to cloud judgment than buprenorphine! Realize first that Suboxone contains nothing new; the two medications have been used by doctors for over 30 years.
Avatar n tn Iv'e been using Norspan Patches for about 10 months now,and apart from not really helping my pain relief,I have lost about 14 Kgs in weight,I quite often feel nauseous, and have really gone gone off most foods,I'm really never hungry. I have fibromyalgia, which has made life a misery, but you just get on with it I guess. One thing I can't stop eating is lollies (sweets),,and I had my sugar tested last week by my mother inlaw, and it was 5.3.
Avatar m tn Norspam is known in the states as buprenorphine. Buprenorphine will work to stop withdrawals. It does so because it's an extremely powerful opiate. Most of us here would consider it a 'last resort' for opiate dependence and addiction. It has a history of being extremely hard to get off of. In fact, if you can't maintain a taper schedule it can be nearly impossible to stop using. People here have stopped while on high doses but it's the exception not the rule.
Avatar f tn I am in medical hospital and they want me to detox off methadone with help of buprenorphine does anyone know about this drug or used it . I am scared and need feedback ASAP.
Avatar f tn In Europe, it is available in patches similar to fentanyl where it is available in up to 50mcg patches. Buprenorphine in higher doses just isn't a good pain reliever, it's properties as a partial agonist blocker becomes more pronounced.
Avatar n tn even fentynl patches and morphone.. the dr tried me on suboxone also. it was working great until i got a HORRID rash and was scratchiny my legs basically off! it was eating my skin away! sadly he refered me back to my normal ddr for surgery (hysterestomy- that i Ddo NOT want.. i'm only 25 and want more schildren w/ my hubby ;..( ) very emotional situation for me here... but i have a bunch of suxobone left and i wanted to try and get back on them from the percocet.... any advise...
1542945 tn?1293356309 just came across this thread. I started the patch journey about 6 month ago. Started on Butrans and transtec......didn't hit the spot (severe pelvic and abdominal adhesions cause my pain). Moved onto Fentanly. 50mg I have turned into Satan! Anger, moods, hatred - got im an absolute b*tch! Decided I needed to get off this crap.....
Avatar f tn s tolerances. There is a ceiling to the effects of buprenorphine; you would get to that maximum effect at a dose of around 2 mg per day (you are now getting about 0.5 mg per day). At the maximum effect-- i.e. at 2 mg per day-- butrans is ABOUT as potent as 60 mg of oxycodone per day. These are rough dose estimates, as every person is a little different, and the route of administration-- transdermal-- has different 'efficiencies' in different people.
Avatar m tn Can anyone help me with some knowledge of this medication????? I have a relative who's suffered badly for years and tried every clinic and therapy and medication and nothing helped till now. He's lately been prescribed this buprenorphine and he swears it's just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds.
Avatar f tn The only 7 day patch I know of is the Butrans patch. Buprenorphine (butrans) is Suboxone. It's normally used for addiction recovery but it looks like they're using it in low doses for pain management in the patch. This is what I found on it from Wikipedia. "Available buprenorphine formulations include a 5, 10 and 20 mcg per hour, 7-day patch, marketed as Butrans in the U.S.A.
Avatar f tn If the long-acting meds are working well, you may not even need anything else. Since the only active ingredient in the Butrans patch is buprenorphine and it does not contain naloxone (like Suboxone does), breakthrough meds will still be effective. That is wonderful news that the patch is working so well for you! Hope it stays that way!
199177 tn?1490498534 Subutex® is a single entity buprenorphine product and Suboxone® is a combination product with buprenorphine and naloxone in a 4:1 ratio, respectively. After reviewing all the available data and receiving a schedule III recommendation from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the DEA placed buprenorphine and all products containing buprenorphine into schedule III in 2002. Since 2003, diversion, trafficking and abuse of buprenorphine have become more common in the United States.
Avatar n tn Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Buprenorphine is similar to other opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin however, it produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
Avatar f tn The flip side of all of this is that tolerance reaches a maximum at about 4 mg of buprenorphine, and further increase in dose of buprenorphine does not cause substantial increase in tolerance. Tolerance and withdrawal are two sides of the same coin; the lack of withdrawal going from 32 to 8 mg of buprenorphine is consistent with no significant change in tolerance across that range. So in my opinion, being on 32 vs 4 mg of Suboxone doesn't raise your tolerance.
Avatar f tn Hi martint1955, First, I want to welcome you to the PM (Pain Management) Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with our own expertise and experiences that we have developed through our own CP Issues. I'm sorry that you are having trouble finding a Doctor to prescribe what you think you need for your pain. From everything that I've read on the patch it is the very same medication that Suboxone is.
Avatar f tn Thanks Jaybay! I did know about the actions and uses of buprenorphine and .... and the fact that Suboxone has the additional naloxone component to prevent injection abuse. I didn't know that Fentanyl could "knock bupe right off its pins." You're right, there must be more but I can't even find at you are saying about Fentanyl on line.
Avatar f tn Suboxone is the brand name for a medication consisting of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a thebaine derivative with powerful analgesia approximately 20-40x more potent than morphine. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist and antagonist of the opioid receptors in the central nervous system which means that when its molecule binds to a receptor, it will transduce only a partial response in contrast to a full agonist such as morphine.
Avatar m tn Subutex, which is composed of only buprenorphine, and Suboxone, which is a combination of Buprenorphine and Naloxone. It's my understanding that a physician requires even more education when ordering either of these drugs than the usual opiate education. The medical documentation required is even more stringent. Indeed it's now even more difficult to find a physician that will order Buprenorphine. The DEA is breathing down their necks.
Avatar n tn i am waiting to go on a buprenorphine maintenance prescription which will be next month.i have some buprenorphine tablets but when i take them i go straight into cold turkey.i have taken the buprenorphine tablets for a few years before but my prescription got stopped so i opted for the above tablets for the time being whilst im on the waiting list to go back on the buprenorphine.
Avatar f tn 20mcgs of dupe is not enough to cover 40mgs of methadone. Also, the partial agonist affect of dupe leaves some people feeling odd anyway, so taking too little is adding to that affect. From what I have studied, 1mg bupe is a closer dose to an equivalent.
