Avatar m tn I am taking a drug test Monday afternoon, Will bupe show up in a standard drug test for employment agency?
Avatar f tn The most common urine drug test is a 5-Panel Drug Test, or “SAMHSA1-5”, that screens for 5 categories of drugs: Marijuana (THC) Cocaine Amphetamines/Methamphetamines Opiates2 Phencyclidine (PCP) 1 SAMHSA, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, sets guidelines for federal government drug testing programs. 2 codeine, morphine, hydrocodone (e.g., Vicodin), hydromorphone (e.g., Dilaudid), oxycodone (e.g., Percodan) and oxymorphone (e.g.
Avatar f tn I am in medical hospital and they want me to detox off methadone with help of buprenorphine does anyone know about this drug or used it . I am scared and need feedback ASAP.
Avatar f tn There are other medications available for opiate detoxification such, as Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone), or Subutex, (buprenorphine), but because they are "Pregnancy Category C" medications, meaning they are known to cause harmful and possibly fatal birth defects on a fetus, the are not recommended for use in detoxifying pregnant women. http://www.ehow.com/way_5634991_recommended-detox-procotols-during-pregnancy.
Avatar m tn Subutex, which is composed of only buprenorphine, and Suboxone, which is a combination of Buprenorphine and Naloxone. It's my understanding that a physician requires even more education when ordering either of these drugs than the usual opiate education. The medical documentation required is even more stringent. Indeed it's now even more difficult to find a physician that will order Buprenorphine. The DEA is breathing down their necks.
Avatar m tn I take suboxone per my prescription. I had to take a pre-employment hair drug test. The test showed positive for oxycodone. I have not taken oxycodone. Can the buprenorphine-naloxone cause a false positive for oxycodone? I have seen that is can on an urine test but what about a hair test? If so, any recommendations on how to work through it to get it cleared? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Mr. Fly1234: First, I'd like to congratulate you on tapering down your Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) maintenance dose. From other patients' experiences, decreasing the dose and discontinuing buprenorphine are not easy tasks for many. Under federal law, DATA 2000 or Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000, only qualified physicians can prescribe and treat opioid addiction with controlled narcotics medications, such as buprenorphine products (Suboxone, Subutex or generic alternatives).
Avatar m tn Have a bad headache and no pain meds at home. Have a little of the Buprenorphine hcl left from when my cat was neutered. It was given to him orally at a dose of 0.3cc. I looked it up and it looks like a "human" drug also, but am wondering if I am able to take this. I do hae a little chronic bronchitis, but not full blown copd i don't think. What do you think? Could I take this. Should I add to water or put under my tongue,.
Avatar f tn I called the suboxone hotline and asked if I was taking 32mgs of sub would this make my tolernace increase? Being that sub is such a strong drug, I am curious how you answer this. If I ever deceided to go back on a pain medication, as I am a chronic pain patient would this affect my receptors/tolerance etc?. Would my brain need the same dosage it was on prior to the sub or need more? I may have an upcoming surgery that will require analgesia and need to know what I am up against.
179856 tn?1333547362 Anagnostou and colleagues evaluate HCV treatment outcomes among IV drug users receiving opioid substitution treatment with methadone or buprenorphine at 4 government-funded clinics between 2002 and 2008. The analysis involved 93 IV drug users with HCV infection who started combination treatment with pegylated interferon alfa-2a or -2b and ribavirin while on methadone or buprenorphine. Forty-six (48.4%) patients were on methadone, and 49 (51.6%) were on buprenorphine. Of the total, 77 (82.
1476285 tn?1287337784 Will I be able to do the 3-drug treatment using telaprevir and still take my suboxone? It takes a long time to wean off suboxone and I don't have the time to really wait to do that before beginning treatment. I haven'tt been able to find any info on others who are continuing their suboxone while treating w/ the telaprevir so need information.
Avatar f tn Suboxone is the brand name for a medication consisting of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a thebaine derivative with powerful analgesia approximately 20-40x more potent than morphine. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist and antagonist of the opioid receptors in the central nervous system which means that when its molecule binds to a receptor, it will transduce only a partial response in contrast to a full agonist such as morphine.
Avatar n tn t know exactly what that means but have researched and gathered that he is addicted to opioids and this is a drug that takes it place? Is this a drug that you take to wean yourself off? And if so, how long do you take it?
Avatar m tn How can I get rid of buprenorphine? I've been on it for the last twelve years. I've tried tapering, but whether I take 16 or 2 mgs, the withdrawal is just as bad... Thank you for your answers.
Avatar f tn Buprenorphine is a derivative of thebaine, an extract of opium. The drug is an opioid (synthetic opiate) partial agonist and thus can produce the euphoria, analgesia, and sedation associated with opiates; however, while it stimulates the same brain receptors as full opiate agonists such as heroin and morphine, buprenorphine produces a lesser degree of sedation and respiratory depression than those drugs and causes no significant impairment of cognitive or motor skills.
1476285 tn?1287337784 I am interested in info from anyone doing the new 3-drug regime w/ interferon, ribavirin and telaprevir who are also taking suboxone. I am currently on suboxone: 3/5's to 1/2 tab per day. I wasn't put on it for drug abuse but I was on pain meds (lortab & fentenayl patch) for chronic pain. I went on suboxone to get off the pain mgmt regime.

Avatar f tn This drug can be taken as a pain reliever as well just like methadone can be taken for pain but is meant for drug addiction. Suboxone might be a better pain reliever than say Percocet, or Vicodin because it is extremely good with pain relief without getting you all high thus preventing addiction. So if you are on it for pain this doesn't at all classify you as a drug addict.
Avatar f tn t realize that one tab, 8 mg, is still a very high dose of buprenorphine. Buprenorphine has some characteristics that make it a good tapering drug-- e.g. a very long half-life-- but it is hard to dose in small enough amounts to do a gradual, consistent taper. Ideally it could be given for a week at 1000 micrograms, a week at 1800 mg, etc, reducing by 10% every week or two...
1405767 tn?1282634598 Buprenorphine offers some advantages in that it causes less craving for the drug. The tolerance for buprenorphine also differs in that it is ‘fixed’ at a certain level; this probably is related to the lack of cravings for the drug.
Avatar n tn Much less harmful then taking the original drug of choice. there isnt much research or whatnot done on suboxone yet for that specific question you have...
3177469 tn?1344454268 Pharmacokinetic profiles of buprenorphine, norbuprenorphine and naloxone were measured over the 24-hour dosing interval on Day –1 (buprenorphine/naloxone alone, reference) and Day 7 of telaprevir co-administration (test). Geometric least squares mean ratios and associated 90% confidence intervals of treatment ratios (test/reference) were calculated using log-transformed pharmacokinetic parameters. Opioid withdrawal symptoms were evaluated throughout the study (questionnaires and pupillometry).
