I am in medical hospital and they want me to detox off methadone with help of buprenorphine does anyone know about this drug or used it . I am scared and need feedback ASAP.

We present a case of a young multisystem trauma patient in whom adequate analgesia could not be achieved due to buprenorphine treatment before and through the early course of admission. Discontinuation of buprenorphine allowed for appropriate pain management and successful analgesia. I just found out (not by being told) that my boyfriend has a buprenorphine addiction. I don't know exactly what that means but have researched and gathered that he is addicted to opioids and this is a drug that takes it place? Is this a drug that you take to wean yourself off? And if so, how long do you take it?

ve read elsewhere that snorting it can cause the Naloxone to become active. Of course it could have been the Buprenorphine that kicked me into precipitated withdrawals. Either way I shouldn't have been snorting it, and had three days of complete hell to pay because of it.

s literature says you can switch up to 60mg, but of course the smaller the dose the better.The reason is because Buprenorphine has a ceiling effect that makes any dose of 4-32mg the equivalent of 40mg of Methadone. If you use the Sub to block the Methadone, then anything over 40mg will have to be "withdrawn" from. As far as the time frame...I'd wait until I just absolutely couldn't stand it anymore. Follow your doctor's recommendations regardless.

Can anyone help me with some knowledge of this medication????? I have a relative who's suffered badly for years and tried every clinic and therapy and medication and nothing helped till now. He's lately been prescribed this buprenorphine and he swears it's just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds.

They must go through a short course to become a Certified Buprenorphine Provider. Upon completing they are issued a seperate DEA # that allows them to prescribe sub. This number is only used in the writing of buprenorphine scripts. Upon completion, for their first year I believe they can only have a load of 30 patients that they can prescribe to. After that year is up, they can prescribe up to 100 patients. This is why Suboxone clinics/docs have such long waiting lists.

Hi earthwarrior, I'm on Tripple treatment with Vivtrellis. I started one month ago, and have just been taking the 3rd drug, Victrillis for 4 days. I take 16 MG of Suboxone a day. 8MG in the morning; 8 in the afternoon. The first month of starting treatment i felt the suboxone wasn't helping me. I'd wake up feeling sick. I felt I needed more suboxone. Once I started the Victrillis, I didn't feel a need for more Suboxone.

i am waiting to go on a buprenorphine maintenance prescription which will be next month.i have some buprenorphine tablets but when i take them i go straight into cold turkey.i have taken the buprenorphine tablets for a few years before but my prescription got stopped so i opted for the above tablets for the time being whilst im on the waiting list to go back on the buprenorphine.

I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain.Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.

why cant i stay off the methadone for 3 days and than get a script for buprenorphine generic .and start my treatment detox at home. i do have a gp doctor.and i think he can do the buprenorphine program.

When I saw my pain management consultant a few months ago he put me on Buprenorphine Transdermal Patches, 10mg. ! patch to be put on for 7 days. This is in addition to the Oxycontin. The patch has recently been increased to 20mg. I have recently started reducing the Oxycontin in the view of coming off it totally. I have so far reduced it by 10mg. My Dr hase prescibed me Oxynorm 5mg, once a day, incase I experience withdrawal symptoms.

It is hard to know for sure, though, whether I am correct, or whether buprenorphine (the active part of Suboxone) lessens the total misery to some extent. We don't know how bad off you would be if you had not take Suboxone. The general belief of the treatment industry seems to be that buprenorphine does lessen the severity of withdrawal, but I am not convinced that it does that. I am an advocate of using buprenorphine for longer periods of time than for simple detox.
