Common Questions and Answers about Bumps on rear of tongue

bump

Avatar n tn It felt like a popcorn husk stuck on the back of my tongue and when I looked I found the bumps. Just like you, a couple on one side and about twice as many on the other. No pain, they don't look ulcerated, just bumps. Also, like you, when I researched on the internet, it just scares you what you find. I'd love to hear what you found out about your's and if they have cleared up.
Avatar f tn I noticed a cluster of bumps on the very back of my tongue. I only see them when i stick my tongue out very far. They are behind the "v" of papillae and just above the epiglottis (the thing that closes over the trachea. i dont know if thats the right term). Any ways, they dont hurt at all, but i just noticed them recently.... Anyone know what these are?
Avatar n tn I have these weird, raised, and various sized bumps on my tongue towards the back and on both sides of my tongue, on the lower half. My tongue feels swollen on both lower sides of my tongue towards the bottom... It is somewhat painful... Just very irritating. Please, someone tell me what is wrong!! I am a very paranoid person in nature and the slightest oddity of my body stresses me out. All I can say for sure is that these bumps are not normal and werent there in the past.

Avatar n tn Go to the doctor immediately when you have sores and get them cultured for herpes and herpes type. Tiny red bumps on the tip of your tongue may be inflamed taste buds.
1855970 tn?1325823613 The past few days I've noticed bumps on the back of my tongue... they were just visible if I stuck my tongue out far and didnt hurt or anything. But today, one of the bumps toward the left side just feels annoying. Like when a popcorn kernel gets stuck on the back of your tongue... thats what it feels like. I tried using a toothbrush to kind of 'brush' it away, and it didnt work.

Avatar f tn In the last few years I have had tiny white bumps appear on the tip of my tongue and my tongue appears swollen. In the past I have taken benadryl and that has taken care of it. They seem to come more often now. I keep up on my teeth cleanings and fillings if needed. I also suffer now from hypothyroidism due to the irradation of my thyroid due to hyperthyroidism. Could that be the cause? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn OK, I have kissed and performed oral sex on about 3 women in the past 2 months. I now have a bunch of small bumps on my lingual frenulum (the part under my tongue where the spit glands are). They look like a bunch of spider eyes. They are painless and most of them are the color of my mouth. They were a bit red yesterday, but not firetruck red. They haven't secreted anything, yet. I'm not sure if they ever will secrete anything.
Avatar n tn I often get them on the under side of my tongue. I have a bump very similar to that on the roof of my mouth in the back. I just ate garlic bread, so I'm wondering if these bumps can also occur on the roof of your mouth? I mean I literally just noticed it. It doesn't hurt though it does look a little red around the bump.
Avatar n tn My son also has 2 white bumps on the end of his tongue that he was born with. When the Pediatrician saw him before we were released from the hospital, she called them some big long name(that I can't remember), and said not to worry about it. She said sometimes they just go away on their own. He is now 7 1/2mths old and they are still there, and 1 is a little red on the tip. I made a Doctors appt.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 19yr old female and have recently noticed whilst inspecting my mouth that I have a yellow part that is attached to the far side of my tongue actually on the side of it. It is NOT painful and I don't know how long I have had it on my tongue as I can not even feel that it is there. I brush my teeth everyday and I do not smoke nor do I drink. However I have tried to look what it is online and some searches have indicated it that it could be cancer.
Avatar f tn I woke up the following Friday with two bumps on my tongue. The bumps are painful but do not effect the rest of my mouth. Is it possible that I have herpes on my tongue now?
Avatar n tn I have a patch of raised white bumps in the back center of my tongue that appeared about three days ago and are still there. They do not hurt unless I pick at them but they are raised so they are irritating. I have been rinsing with a medical oral wash but it has not seemed to help. I burnt my tongue several days ago but I have burnt it before and this has never happen. Do you have any idea what this might be?
Avatar f tn Makes sense since lots of different chemical reactions from the food you eat. Bumps on the back of the tongue are normal. Here is a link that may help: http://www.livestrong.com/article/312859-red-bumps-way-back-on-the-tongue/ There are many other links that that one above. I had a sore a few months ago that was inside my lower lip and lasted 12 hours (half a day). It was my paranoid stage when I thought I was suffering from oral HPV.
Avatar m tn i just looked at them in the mirror and it has gotten worse. the tongue around the bumps has turned blueish purple. it kind of looks like a bruise around them. now i am very worried. maybe i should tell the whole story. last week, i came home pretty drunk and ate a "cup of noodles". since i was drunk, i didnt realize how hot the soup was and when i woke up, my tongue was burnt.
Avatar f tn I also saw a couple of red bumps on top of tongue (deep) today. And there's a little white dot on front tongue (left). I am already going through a HIV scare (had unprotected vaginal sex 4 weeks back)! (Have rashes, muscle pain, sore throat and now this).
Avatar n tn About 3 days ago, I found a canker sore on my lip. Yesterday bumps appeared on the back of my tongue. They do not hurt, but are quite annoying. All i want to do is swallow them. I heard that the bumps on the back of the tongue are a part of normally anatomy, but i can't help but think that they are inflamed or infected. Is there anything I can do at home? If they don't go down in a couple of days, I plan on seeing a dentist. Heres my background: I'm a college student.
Avatar f tn The exact cause cannot be confirmed on the basis of a picture. Bump on the side of tongue can be due to constant irritation of the fungiform papillae. Small bumps can be caused by oral herpes simplex virus complex, allergic reactions, early stage syphilis, canker sores, bacterial infections or tuberculosis. Immune disorders can also cause tongue bumps. Mouth cancer can cause a lump or area of thickened skin on the side of your tongue. A clinical examination is must.
Avatar n tn there are usually 2 noticeable veins that run down the underside of the tongue. on one of my veins at the tip of the vein, i noticed a small red bump/flap. it lay flat down but you could raise the flap up. It is not painful when i don't move my tongue or touch the bump/flap. but when i do touch of move it, it is very painful. i'm only 15 so do you think this is anything serious?
