Bumps on knuckles of fingers

Common Questions and Answers about Bumps on knuckles of fingers

Avatar f tn I have round bumps on knuckles of all the fingers of my right hand (I'm right handed), the largest on my index finger and tapering to the smallest on my small finger. The largest is about 1/4" in diameter and about 1/8" high. They are rough and feel like callouses, but I don't do any kind of work that would cause a callous there. I can file them smooth or put hand cream on them to soften them, but very soon the roughness is back. The largest is rough enough to snag on clothing, etc.
Avatar n tn What are these red, tender bumps the size of a pencil eraser on the tops of my knuckles on my fingers adjacent to the bed of my fingernails. I have assumed they were arthritic in nature. This discussion is related to bumps on backs of hands, knuckles.
Avatar n tn couple weeks ago - i noticed blister-like sores on the knuckles of a few fingers .. some fingers have a blister on both the knuckles. i went to the dermatologist a week ago and she did not know what these were. she gave me a cream - salex - and said if it didn't clear up to see her partner. it hasn't cleared up and in fact, i am noticing more knuckles getting these. it does look like when one gets a blister from too tight of a shoe .. but no liquid has come out of any of them.
Avatar n tn I get these same type of red bumps on the tops and sides of my fingers, and on my elbows and kneecaps. I have noticed a correlation with the sun and when the bumps come. They sound the same as the bumps that are being described here- red, uncomfortable to the touch, dry. I had none of these over the winter. Now that there has been sun these last few beautiful days, some popped up again.
Avatar n tn I have one on one of my toe and one on each hand. The one on my toe is the size of a dime and one on my hand is about half that size. There is one on my other hand that seems to just be starting. I'm not sure if they are contageous or not. Wondering what bacteria might be causing these and what treatment is usually recommended. I'm waiting to get in to see a dermatologist but I have just moved to a new town and currently I am unable to get a family doctor. Would hydrocortozone cream work?
Avatar n tn It has been about 4 days now and the rash has spread up my pointer fingers, to the next knuckles, down the side of my hands and to my elbows. I have had a slight history of eczema, however, it was on my neck area and i have not had a flare up in about 3 years. I'm not sure if i should inform my dermatologist or if i should use over-the-counter medications to take care of it. If you have any advice for me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
1636131 tn?1300233128 They hurt really bad when I scrape them or put pressure on them, which happens a lot since they are on the creases of my fingers or on my knuckles and then on my elbows. I started paying attention and noticed that they only come around my period. I don't get them every cycle, but I've never had them when my period didn't soon follow. My period is very irregular but when I start getting these painful bumps, I know it's coming soon.

1077961 tn?1279585349 Spots frequently appear in small clusters. Appears on outside of elbows, knuckles and tops of fingers, along the sides of fingers especially near the fingernails. Similarly distributes itself across toes. I would like to point out specifically that there is NO signs of this on webbing between digits. It's all appearing on hard joints. There is likewise NO scaling, flaking, or texture changes to the skin beyond feeling warm and a bit swollen.
Avatar n tn I have tiny blister-like bumps on my pointer fingers, mostly on my right hand, but some on my left as well. They are also on my pinky finger knuckles. They do not itch, nor do they hurt, but they look wierd, and therefore are bothersome. I pop them and it almost looks like water comes out. Nothing pus-like. My regular doctor didnt know what they were but wasnt concerned since they didnt hurt or itch. I have no history of eczema or any other skin condition.
1409114 tn?1323869602 I had a sexual encounter 5 weeks ago (first ever) recently I noticed small clusters of very small colorless bumps on my fingers usualy near the knuckles and on the sides. Itch sometimes but not frequent. Are those related to STD? Contagious? How can this be tested? Thx.
Avatar n tn I have had these same bumps on only 3 fingers and 2 knuckles on my right hand that come and go and itch like crazy they also leave dry patches of skin that crack and hurt. I have had this for a year now. My dermatologist said atopic eczema. I know a lot of you are saying no sun however my Dr. said ubv photothreapy (chance of skin cancer) and it seems to work and I notice that when I go tanning (tanning bed...
Avatar f tn This past year I have been getting them more often and recently I have noticed that the bumps are appearing not just on my fingers but on my toes too and they are localized around my knuckles. The weird thing is they are not really that noticeable unless you’re looking directly at them. Sometimes they are itchy but mostly they are kind of sore to the touch but I can’t tell if it’s just the skin or my actual knuckle that is kind of sore.
Avatar n tn I got rid of my painful bumps by putting athlete's foot medicine on my FEET, NOT MY HANDS. Wash your feet twice a day at first, using CLOTRIMAZOLE CREAM between the toes, or probably any anifungal cream. If your painful bumps are the same as mine, they will start to disappear in a day or 2. I continue to use the cream EVERY DAY after showering, with no more bumps on my fingers at all. Rite Aid pharmacies have a pretty good price on their own brand of generic cream in the foot section.
Avatar n tn I don't get the itching but I get small red bumps that burn on the insides of my fingers or bottom of my thumbs, then dry up and peel. It usually dries up and goes away but I have used what I am suggesting and it went away quickly. It works on a lot of other things as well. It could be an indication of a systemic problem as well and set off by a virus. This is why the doctor can't tell you because there are so many variables.
Avatar f tn I have had them for 3 or 4 years running, they disappear most of the tear but i often get a few bumps on my knuckles on a warm day. When it get really hot, like it is now where I am, both the back of my hands get covered in these bumps which spread on the forefinger and around the thumb.
Avatar f tn Although at that time it wasn't as bad. The bumps are only on a couple of my fingers. My first and middle fingers on both handes. They are worse on my right hand. And they are only adjacent to my middle and lower finger joints/knuckles. They don't appear anywhere else on my hands or body. When the raised bumps go down the skin is very hard and dry in that area and a little sore. They are pink/red in nature and kind of yellow when they dry out.
Avatar m tn It started with one each on the knuckles of my middle and ring finger on my right hand and seemed to spread from there. The majority of them are on the sides of my fingers and my knuckles. They are more visible when my hands are wet and slightly painful to the touch. They seem to start to go away when my hands get extremely dry but come back when i moisturize. I work as a cashier and am afraid i picked up something from touching money and coming in contact with different people all day.
Avatar n tn They just raise up as red lumps, then after a period of time they disappear (although new ones then pop up elsewhere on my fingers). I had seen a dermatologist years ago who said it could possibly be contact dermatitis (I Don'T believe it is) or possibly an auto-immune disease like lupus. I never followed up.
Avatar n tn I have red bumps on the joints of most of my fingers, sometimes they come and go but they are there more then not. They are extremely itchy but hurt when I itch them and make my joints stiff. I've had them for about 3 years last year the doctor prescibed some cortizone cream saying it may be a skin condition but it did nothing. They are both on the sides of my fingers and on top.
Avatar n tn since then they have gotten progressively worse. on her knuckles, top of her hands...bottoms of feet very badly...ankles hurt, feet hurt. sometimes beyond the point of walking. numbness in her fingertips, and also a rash that comes and goes, not raised, doesnt itch...and is on the back of her thighs. it is very hard to say how many times that rash has appeared bc it has no symptoms... These symptoms do not seem consistant with lupus...
Avatar n tn As I'm sure you realize, arthritis refers to swelling of the joints. A rash on the skin on top of the joints does not imply or suggest arthritis. Although I'm not sure exactly what this rash is, I doubt it has any systemic significance. (I assume your son is otherwise healthy.) My advice is to set up an appointment with a skin doctor. If possible, take photos of the rash when it's in full bloom, in case it isn't there when you see the doctor.
Avatar n tn None are located near fingernails and only three are located somewhat toward the sides of my fingers or palms. Some are near knuckles, others aren't. They appear to be random in location. I've looked at severall pictures of things online and these doesn't look like any of them. Those all look very irritated. Maybe it nothing to worry about, but I thought I'd ask.
Avatar f tn Not only would these odd bumps would appear on my feet when walking in bare feet(ball, arch, heel), but they'd also appear on my elbows, and hands(fingers, knuckles, palms). Whenever I applied excessive pressure on them, or I brushed/rubbed/scaped against something my skin would break out in multiple red/white painfully welt/bump/lumps and they stay for about 2 - 3 days and then they're gone.
1135892 tn?1260569065 I have large bumps on my all of my middle knuckles. They are tender to the touch and tender when put under pressure - like making a fist. They are on all 8 fingers (thumbs excluded). I have tried ice, heat, massage, reike, and anti-inflammatories. I've been to a dermatoligist. I had biopsies done on the pad type material - inconclusive. I've had cortisone injections and tried a topical steroid. No change. I am right handed but the issue is bi-lateral. I have a desk job.
Avatar n tn The bumps are usually close together in small groups of about three or four. They are on my knuckles or on the inside of my thumb and pointer finger. They usually only stay for a day or two, then they go away. Any ideas? Thanks!
Avatar f tn A few daya later i notice a small bump on the edge of the head of penis with a dry skin atop it. It itched along qith little bumps along shaft which matched small bumps i had around Nd between my knuckles. Just little dry bumps. Ive tried steriod creams Nd benedryl. The bene helped a little but atill the skin itches like crazy. I need help.
Avatar n tn I have redish flat disks that have formed on my elbows (slightly itchy, mild pain when bumped) and slightly red, mostly skin colored small bumps on the knuckles and top side of my fingers and hands. This condition usually only last 1-3 weeks for me and very rarely. I've had this happen maybe 3-4 times in my life. I thought that it may perhaps be Dermatitis Herpetiformis and mentioned that when i saw my dermatologist today.
Avatar n tn It usually happens on the palm side of various fingers, but in April, I had one rupture on my knuckle. I'm very interested in any comments.
Avatar f tn Now a week ago after being in a salt water pool for a few hours I started itching on my palms and soles of my feet. The next day the bumps started on my fingers and also on my palms but they itched severely. After two days I couldn't stand the itching so I bought over the counter anti itch hydrocortazone cream. At first it seemed to relieve it but hours later it burned. Each day the bumps spread and grow and are hard and tight. My knuckles are also tight.
