Brown discharge is usually the result of old blood. An irregular period or delayed (late) period can often shed older tissue that will begin with a darker burgundy or brown appearance because of the older cells being expelled during the start of your period. Bleeding during or after masturbation shouldn't be considered normal; you either need to use a water based lubricant, or be more gentle during masturbation.
Brown blood is old blood. It can even be old period blood. Or if your birth control pills are perhaps doing something like causing a bit too much progesterone in your system, that can cause it. Unprotected sex in terms of pregnancy is okay when you are on the pill (not for std's however). I would see if this pattern of spotting continues and if it does, see your doctor.
Your body may be preparing to start your period. The brown discharge is called old blood. The first couple of times you may have this discharge but you will eventually have the red blood. I would not worry unless it has an unusual smell, last for over a week or if you start having bad pains before discharge. It is podiible that you might be pregnant go doctor and get a blood test then you'll know. Also I had the brown blood/discharge before too and it was just old blood stuck from the last cycle. Sometimes the blood and pick up discharge on the way out that would explain the stringy brown discharge. Mine took about 2 months to get back on track with my normal cycles.
I have had brown blood "old blood" starting my period but it was always follow by Red blood "fresh" -- never had the discharge tho
As I draw nearer to my period date, the discharge seem to get heaver color-wise. It would be light brown discharge one day, then red-ish the next, then back to brown and so on, sometimes red. I'm due in about a day or 2 and just today it started to look more like period blood when I use the bathroom. I thought I would start today, but after a few times on and off through the day, it seem to disappear and has resume back to light brown discharge.
Hi all. I'm 17 years old and I've been on birth control for a little more than a year and a half. I've had brown discharge before but not the week before my period, but during my ovulation. I'm a little confused as to what this means because it's never happened to me before and if I should go see a doctor about it. As of right now, it seems that the discharge is slowing or stopping I can't figure out which one at this point in time.
I often get brown discharge right before my period like the day or two before. Old blood from my last period perhaps.
The other thought is that maybe you have a bit of a yeast infection going on?? Do you have any other symptoms such as itching or clumping of discharge? Typically if you have a yeast infection you are a bit uncomfortable. Anything like that going on?
Otherwise, it is probably old blood and your period is about to start. Talk to your mom, don't be afraid!
It is normal to have brown discharge it is old blood, I am currently taking the pill and have been for about a year and I've had brown discharge twice its normal. Yeah it may still give you pain and feel slightly different but you don't have and infection, and if you are constantly taking b tablets then it's unlikely you are.
Brown discharge is old blood coming out and usually is at the beginning or end of a normal period. Have you had your periods for very long and how old are you? You may want to get on birth control to regulate your periods. I started my period when I was very young and was irregular for years before I got on birth control. It was the best decision I ever made. Not only did it regulate me but I would also know when I would have my period so I could plan activities around it.
On the day of my suppossed period I got some brown discharge with some blood, I thought i had started my period but through out the day it started getting lighter and lighter so i didnt need a tampon or a pad, just a liner. Wait a week between sets of tests as you're not likely to get different results within a few days. Brown blood is just old blood, however, blood that's been up there a little longer (remember how blood is blue and changes color in response to exposure to oxygen?). If it was like a normal period aside from that and not just spotting, most likely you have no possible pregnancy to worry about.
