I asked the doctor why my fibula looked like is still broken on the x-ray. The response was that the fibula was already healing and there was no reason to attach pins or screws to it and also they said that fibula bone does not support the body weight at all. I just wanted to have an opinion to make sure that I will not have problems in the future with my leg because of the fibula bone is now on that position.

m surprised a foot doctor wants to biopsy for a fibula fracture, which is located above the foot. Does he specialize in ankles as well, if that's what part of the fibula he found the the break in? What diagnostic tests did he order that he is able to charactarize as cyst-like calcifications? Did he explain why he felt biopsy was warranted? If you are not comfortable with this surgery, I recommend you cancel until you can get a second opinion from perhaps an orthopedic surgeon.

ve found heel cups work well for the heel spurs but is there another insert that would help with bone spurs on the outside area of the foot? Will surgery remove them indefinitely or can they return?

I'm pretty sure it isn't broken but then I've never broken a bone before so I have no idea. I was in a shop and one of the clothing rails dropped a short distance (probably from my knee height) onto my foot. It really hurt and throbbed for a while. But it's still hurting almost 2 weeks later and the bruise only just seems to be coming out! Is that normal?

X-rays 2 minutes before we left looked like the piece of my bone at the top end of the 5th metatarsel was broken, and not just broken, broken OFF. He said it looked to be an old fracutre and that I should (A) wear sneakers more than flipflops (B) If it doesn't help then to get orthopedic inserts. He never suggested a cast or a boot. I don't know if it because the break is too old to fix or what, but I would like a second opinion. ANY opinion would be nice.

She had an xray---low and behold she had broken her ankle bone! And since we waited so long, it began to heel, buckled inward! They had to take her to the E.R., sedate her, and tried to reposition the bone. Horrible. So, if I may recommend, try going to the doc and getting an xray! Good luck!

My left foot has been swollen for two weeks. I havent done anything to it or have i got bitten. I have tried ice pack , heating pad, proping it up. Nothing has worked. what could be the problem?

I apparently have a chipped bone on my left foot, was given the CAM BOOT to wear for 6 weeks. Still in constant pain and given some meds ( not pain ) for this. The X-rays showed where it chipped off from, like a puzzle piece you can SEE how it would fit back in its spot. And the ligament behind it or next too it -- Dr. could not see if it was attached to that ligament or not. But the piece of bone is just floating there.

Actual injury was a spiral fracture of the fibula with a joint dislocation. I had surgery that night with the ortho plating the bone and securing with 8 screws. I had some swelling issues with the first cast and was unable to have my foot unelevated at all. If I did, my toes turned blue and I felt an intense swelling in the area of my ankle. I saw the ortho yesterday and had my cast replaced. The surgeon did not spend much time with me and wouldn't let me ask any question.

It still looks like a broken bone, feels like a broken bone and I think the medical field is failing miserably at everything but collecting money.

left foot is swollen and the instep is black and blue, no change overnight. My feet swell up sometimes when sitting, bur normally go down when sleeping or putting my feet up.

Thank you! I've already got a bone spur on my foot that flattened out when I was running and is now a painful lump. My doctor said it's probably fractured. Oh, getting old is so much fun.
