I am lead to believe pumpin and dumping doesn't work. The alcohol stays in your milk while its in your system. When you sober up, your milk should be fine. But i would definitely recommend alcohol test strips to be safe.

I did find at Babies R US they have test strips that you can test your breast milk to see if the alcohol levels are low and safe for you to feed that milk to your baby. Hm, to be honest---- most research says it is never safe to lay in a sunbed (the old lighted kind). Not because you are breastfeeding but because it's just not good for ya. Go to walgreens or cvs and they sell strips to test your milk for alcohol, that way you dont end up throwing away perfectly good milk :)

I wouldn't breast feed if you choose to drink and smoke. Baby gets everything you get through your milk. They even have to prescribe you certain antibiotics if you're breastfeeding. You can pump and dump if you drink or there's strips to test if there's alcohol in your milk but definitely wouldn't smoke for sure.

You should pump and have enough for over 24 hours , they sell test kits for alcohol in breast milk to see when it's safe to breastfeed again. I know they have them at Walmart.
