Breast milk supply while period

Common Questions and Answers about Breast milk supply while period

milk

Avatar f tn t the right forum but I feel more comfortable asking questions here...I had my daughter on the 9th and at first I had a really good milk supply where my breast would become engorged every two hours if I didn't pump or feed regularly....and I was pumping 2/3 ounces from each breast every time.....now I can hardly get an half an ounce :(....I try to have my daughter on my breast every two hours but it seems like she gets so irritated because nothing is coming out....
Avatar f tn Then she will continue to suck and get breast milk. Pumping helps to increase milk supply and you could pump and feed while you transition.
Avatar f tn I breast fed my daughter and I always had extra to put in the fridge. I just had to pump at the time she usually had to feed and I kept producing alot of milk.
741877 tn?1265950200 this is also another reason why I thought my milk supply is dwindling... I did notice that after a nice warm shower my right breast is leaking milk.. I guess this is a good sign that there's still some milk there??
136689 tn?1419580447 Hey ladies just wondering if there is anyway to increase milk supply besides pumping, I'm not feeling that full feeling anymore and blayde seems to have to suck a bit more than usual to stimulate me to let down, and i usually can get 150mls out of both breast after feeding but today could only get 50mls.
Avatar f tn It may cause you supply to decrease but any breast milk isngood! :) Have you tried pumping? If your already breastfeeding it would be much cheep er a deep your supply up..
4437866 tn?1388119624 In talking with other active-duty mothers, you may think that a low milk supply is inevitable because it’s such a common issue.  Some mothers find that while their milk supply is great on a Monday after a weekend of nursing, it is faltering by Thursday.  Or they hit a slump at around the three-or six-month mark. A low milk supply is not inevitable. But if your supply does dip, here are some possible reasons why and how to bring your supply back up.
Avatar n tn Yup thats it!! Some woman leak quite alot while others don't. Whether you do or you don't, won't determine your milk supply. Keep putting baby on the breast to help stimulate the flow. Yehh I'm sure you'll be fine!
Avatar f tn Can wearing a sports bra to bed hurt my milk supply?!!!! They are so comfy to wear to bed!!!

Avatar f tn Ive heard people use Fenugreek to increase milk supply.
5154295 tn?1372284196 How do I know if ill have enough milk or produce more? Does it happen more at a certain period of pregnancy or is it something that doctors check later?
1454858 tn?1306784378 I agree it shouldn't hurt if the baby has a proper latch. it can be a bit uncomfortable when your breasts are full and the baby first begins to suck, but as soon as milk begins to let down the discomfort should ease. I honestly believe that smaller breasts are an advantage while breastfeeding. I have (now)36EE's and while BFing I had FF's...so trying to maneuver the nipple was difficult and it was almost easy to move baby around to fit the nipple instead of vice versa...
7656727 tn?1404157447 So I finally got a pump today to get all my milk out and now it looks like I wont be making as much milk. Is there anything I can take to increase my milk supply?? Any recommendations would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar f tn t eat from. While pumping massage and compress toward your nipple to help get most of the milk out. Also remember If you aren't pumping much don't worry because a pump isn't and indicator of how much milk you are making the baby is more efficient. Start freezing as soon as you pump or when you get up to 2 ounces. Breast fed babies only need 1 ounce per hour or 2 every 2hrs. 24ozs in a 24hr time period. A good pumping schedule is every 2 hours during the day and 3hrs at night.
Avatar f tn I'm breastfeeding my son and for about the past 24 hrs my left breast has not been producing much milk at all. I've noticed my breast has been smaller after long periods so I pumped to see and within a four hour period I will pump about 1 ounce. I don't just strictly have him on my breast. I pump as well. And store. My left breast has always produced less but now I feel as if I'm losing my milk supply. He's only 5 wks old and I do NOT want to stop breastfeeding.
3588173 tn?1357317184 Im getting about 2 oz from each side every pump is that average? @ktowne hes doin ok. Hes not eating too great. So they hooked him up to a feeding tube hopefully he doesn't need it long.
Avatar n tn I've heard that breastfeeding regularly works better than the pump to improve supply. It's still early, keep trying. Your milk supply should kick in soon. Some women also take a supplement called milky which supposedly helps.
384896 tn?1335294331 Progestin birth control may actually increase your milk supply where as birth control pills containing estrogen have been shown to reduce your supply of breast milk so try to avoid those. So, stay away from those. Another option is LAM, lactional amenorrhea method: Breastfeeding doesn't have to be a hindrance to birth control. In fact, it could be your main method of birth control!
Avatar f tn m pumping I hardly every leak only in beginning when milk supply was establishing. I must say today while laying down with my son and he was crying my breast did leak a little.
2121625 tn?1350484749 def dont suppliment, it will be a growth spurt, just put him to breast as often as he wants and your milk supply will increase to his demands, also you shouldnt feel engorged anymore as your milk supply will be regulated by how much your bub is having :)
Avatar f tn When I first came home from the hospital I pump and store my breast milk in these sterile storage bags made for breast milk. I will eat oatmeal and take fenugreek tablets to help keep producing milk. You want to keep the baby on the breast as much as possible even if she/he is using you as a pacifier, I noticed skin to skin contact with my little one has helped. My milk supply did decrease while I went back to work.
280369 tn?1316702041 As far as the period while breastfeeding I don't know. I didn't have a cycle the entire time I nursed my first and then with my second it started immediately after the first month like clockwork while exclusively nursing. With the pumping thing, I would guess that it was most likely affected by being sick. Just keep drinking plenty of fluids and eating well. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Sorry but are those some sort of breast milk enhancement or something?
