Avatar f tn I breast fed my daughter and I always had extra to put in the fridge. I just had to pump at the time she usually had to feed and I kept producing alot of milk.
Avatar f tn t the right forum but I feel more comfortable asking questions here...I had my daughter on the 9th and at first I had a really good milk supply where my breast would become engorged every two hours if I didn't pump or feed regularly....and I was pumping 2/3 ounces from each breast every time.....now I can hardly get an half an ounce :(....I try to have my daughter on my breast every two hours but it seems like she gets so irritated because nothing is coming out....
Avatar f tn Yes you can, breastfeeding is supply and demand, so keep breastfeeding him switching between both breast so that both breast will make equal amount of breast milk.
Avatar f tn I'm breastfeeding my son and for about the past 24 hrs my left breast has not been producing much milk at all. I've noticed my breast has been smaller after long periods so I pumped to see and within a four hour period I will pump about 1 ounce. I don't just strictly have him on my breast. I pump as well. And store. My left breast has always produced less but now I feel as if I'm losing my milk supply. He's only 5 wks old and I do NOT want to stop breastfeeding.
Avatar f tn Can wearing a sports bra to bed hurt my milk supply?!!!! They are so comfy to wear to bed!!!
3588173 tn?1357317184 Im getting about 2 oz from each side every pump is that average? @ktowne hes doin ok. Hes not eating too great. So they hooked him up to a feeding tube hopefully he doesn't need it long.
Avatar f tn If your supplementing her after you you nurse you should pump both sides for 10-15 minutes after - even if you are not getting any milk when you pump. The stimulation of pumping will eventually increase your milk supply. If you don't then you will maintain the same milk supply that you have. Or just let her nurse for 15-20 mins each side, even if you think she isn't getting enough that too will increase the milk supply.
Avatar n tn Yup thats it!! Some woman leak quite alot while others don't. Whether you do or you don't, won't determine your milk supply. Keep putting baby on the breast to help stimulate the flow. Yehh I'm sure you'll be fine!
Avatar f tn Then she will continue to suck and get breast milk. Pumping helps to increase milk supply and you could pump and feed while you transition.
7358510 tn?1427032173 If you are going to do a beer then make sure it is a dark beer, also oatmeal and drinking raspberry leaf tea can help boost milk supply. There is also a breast milk tea out there as well.
741877 tn?1265950200 t have enough milk supply for my little one as I would notice he would be hungry and want to feed every hour but only for about 10 min or so then he'd fall asleep and repeat this for a few hours in the afternoon. I literally feel like all I was doing is sitting down and feeding him. Now I have to supplement with formula so that he gets enough food and then he is much more content and won't fuss every hour.
Avatar f tn he sounds like he is in his 2 week growth spurt. my daughter spent 3 days eating constantly....and she gained over a pound in 12 days. as long as he is wetting diapers and gaining weight YOU ARE FINE. feed him when he is hungry-he will set your milk supply.
Avatar f tn MY friend just had her daughter she's two months she was breastfeeding but stopped said she wasn't producing enough milk I want to breast feed also work so I'm planning to pump I really don't want to formula feed my son how can I make sure I have that milk supply coming in besides I heard it had lots of benefits for me and my son like low risk of SIDS and my sons dads oldest son died from SIDS and also I know it will help me loss weight so I don't want to give up on breastfee
Avatar f tn You'll produce milk after birth and then 10 days you should get your full supply in. Baby's can only hold a tablespoon of milk in their tummy until 6 days old so dont worry and they also make vitamins and teas for moms to help boost the supply.
Avatar f tn s worth it and your babies health will benefit even 50 years into future due to breastmilk. Pump more try nursing more and there are some herbal mothers milk teas to promote milk supply. You can do it!
Avatar n tn I've heard that breastfeeding regularly works better than the pump to improve supply. It's still early, keep trying. Your milk supply should kick in soon. Some women also take a supplement called milky which supposedly helps.
2121625 tn?1350484749 def dont suppliment, it will be a growth spurt, just put him to breast as often as he wants and your milk supply will increase to his demands, also you shouldnt feel engorged anymore as your milk supply will be regulated by how much your bub is having :)
136689 tn?1419580447 Hey ladies just wondering if there is anyway to increase milk supply besides pumping, I'm not feeling that full feeling anymore and blayde seems to have to suck a bit more than usual to stimulate me to let down, and i usually can get 150mls out of both breast after feeding but today could only get 50mls.
561093 tn?1237429410 A woman's milk supply is based on the demand of the baby. Normally you little one would be nursing at night so your body would make enough to cover that time. Because you aren't pumping at night your body does not 'think' your baby needs more than it is making. In order to increase your supply try pumping more often and leave the pump on for a minute or two after your breast is emptied. This will tell your body that it needs to produce more milk. I hope this helps!
193988 tn?1215023883 you need to contact your local Le Leche Leaque and talk to a lactation specialist to see how you can re-establish your milk supply. They should be in the phone book...if not google them and go to their website.
1454858 tn?1306784378 I agree it shouldn't hurt if the baby has a proper latch. it can be a bit uncomfortable when your breasts are full and the baby first begins to suck, but as soon as milk begins to let down the discomfort should ease. I honestly believe that smaller breasts are an advantage while breastfeeding. I have (now)36EE's and while BFing I had FF's...so trying to maneuver the nipple was difficult and it was almost easy to move baby around to fit the nipple instead of vice versa...
Avatar f tn When I first came home from the hospital I pump and store my breast milk in these sterile storage bags made for breast milk. I will eat oatmeal and take fenugreek tablets to help keep producing milk. You want to keep the baby on the breast as much as possible even if she/he is using you as a pacifier, I noticed skin to skin contact with my little one has helped. My milk supply did decrease while I went back to work.
Avatar f tn t feed on a schedule let your baby spend as much time at the breast as they want this will help build your milk supply. Try to hold off on giving your baby a pacifier for at least 2-4 weeks. Don't wash your nipples with soap if you are doing that now you might want to stop it can cause dry cracked bleeding nipples. It will be painful and hurt but don't give up and don't reduce the time of your baby feeding.
5612058 tn?1373576034 Enough wet and poopy diapers and if the baby is thriving. Breastfeeding is a supply and demand thing so just let baby eat and you will produce enough. Make sure you drink water and stay hydrated.
