Avatar m tn For women breastfeeding, fenugreek seeds are used to help increase milk supply. Taking Fenugreek at the required amounts helps to increase breast milk, the only real side effect may be that their skin has a maple syrup smell. Fenugreek has been found to increase a women’s milk supply within 24-72 hours of taking the supplement. Once obtaining the results wanted, most women can decrease the amount of Fenugreek needed and stop all together.
Avatar f tn I looked online last night and read several things saying that the cabbage leaves just help with the pain of the breast being swollen.

Avatar m tn Hi, I am new to this website. After giving it deep thought and consideration I have purchased the breast enhancement pill from 'breast actives'. It retails as the number one breast enhancement pill out there in the market. I haven't started taking them as I am waiting for my exams to be over by next week.
Avatar f tn A breast reduction is the removal of extra fat stored in the breast, some woman who have had a reduction experience low milk supply. But that's not the case for every situation and there are most certainly several remedies, herbs and medications to help with those such things if they were in fact to occur.
Avatar f tn Oops sorry *blessed thistle, not milk thistle.. Milk on the brain lol! There are also breastfeeding support tablets that are made with both of those ingredients, one brand is "herbs of gold" you should be able to get them from your local health food store.
7590082 tn?1392496513 It also ensures a really good milk supply, as breast milk is a supply and demand situation. Your body will automatically make more. Also, there are some herbs that help, from blessed thistle, to fenugreek, etc. the easiest thing is Traditional Medicinals Mother's Milk tea. You may have to order it online if you don't have a local health food store. Also, add coconut oil to your diet as coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids and has Laurie acid, same as breast milk.
6079706 tn?1427123162 Did you try mothers milk with the other babies? It's supposed to help you produce more milk. I also plan to breast feed, never have but I've heard good things from friends about mothers milk!
796506 tn?1370188305 hmm, Milk Thistle is not to be used when pregnant or breast feeding!! Blessed Thistle is OK but not Milk Thistle. Milk Thistle /Silybum is used as a liver tonic to get toxins out of the liver. Is is also used in lowering insilin levels which can be harmful to a developing fetus and a BF mother and child. I would tell your LC that she must of meant Blessed THistle and there are dangers with the Milk Thistle!
327668 tn?1224792350 Mothers around the world have been using it obscurely as a natural way to increase breast milk, mothers produce copious amounts of highly nutritious milk for their infants. The term given an herb or food that increases the flow or production of breast milk is galactogogue. 1209036 tn?1299178657 I never used the creams either and just expressed breast milk which has healing properties! letting them air dry is also good and wearing a cotton bra and no nursing pads that have a plastic outer cover!
1399033 tn?1449587779 It is important to consume enough fluids and nutrients to support milk production. Have you started to switch your baby to formula or breast milk bottle feedings? For some women pumping isn't enough... they need suckling to stimulate production. There are supposed to be herbs you can take to encourage milk production, but I'd speak to a local La Leche League person if you can to find out what is going on with you.
Avatar f tn But obviously the earlier the better. Milk Thistle is one of the few Chinese herbs that is generally accepted even by the Medical Community to be beneficial. I'm not aware of any long term trials that indicate if there comes a time when it's too late to start. Bunny is partially correct, medicines do have herbs in them. But we are talking about a herb Milk Thistle (usually 80% Silymarin) not mixed with other medicines.
Avatar f tn I had took a breastfeeeding class today and the nurse said the more u bottle feed your baby and breastfeed less the less milk you will produce and the more ypu breast feed the higher your milk supply will be
Avatar f tn What are natural ways to increase your breast milk supply? I'm skeptical of trying medicine, are there natural ways that has actually worked for you? I would like to hear 1st head experience. Thanks.
Avatar f tn If youve had baby you can try pumping after feeding, feedkng baby more often, the herbs fenugreek and mothers milk may help as well. Before baby comes its not milk yet anyway its caled colostrum and theres not a whole lot of it. Its full of nutrients and anti bodies for your baby when born, then milk comes in.
Avatar f tn Generally, herbs aren't used in isolation. Milk thistle is good at cleansing the liver, but it is usually used in formula with other herbs that affect the liver in different ways. You also have to be careful with milk thistle. For example, if you're on medication, it can cleanse the medication out of your system before it has a chance to work. Other herbs that support the liver don't have this effect. It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish.
Avatar f tn I have lumps too, but I only notice them when he's not getting enough. The only thing that comes to mind is a clogged duct! I got that with my daughter and it was so painful. That can be the reason why she's on the breast a lot. When you have a clogged duct that part of the milk is not coming down and she's not getting enough. You have to go to your doctor and get it taken care of b/c it will get to the point where your milk will stop coming in.
Avatar f tn What the claim is that in the latter stages of pregnancy by tonifying the uterus it reduces the chances of a difficult labor, and also promotes the production of breast milk. Discuss it with a midwife or someone expert in such things and then decide what you want to do. As for the herbs mentioned above, I'm not sure all of them are bad during pregnancy, or even most of them. But since most of what we know is often theoretical, it's hard to know for certain.
1205562 tn?1554747006 Of course there are other ways to increase milk supply such as Mothers Milk tea, napping, double pumping, making sure you're drinking plenty of water, etc. Remember this: if you do chose to drink a beer, dark beer (Guiness for example) is the kind to drink, and you don't need more than 1.
Avatar n tn However, I was raised on a dairy farm and can tell you that every time cows were treated with any drug, their milk was dumped for days after the treatment until the vet said that the drug had cleared her system and was no longer present. Milk is tested by the milk hauler for bacteria levels and drug residues. If antibiotics are present your whole tank of milk would be unsaleable. SueYoung55, I think that the advice to "keep all things in moderation" is the best.
