Breast lump after implants

Common Questions and Answers about Breast lump after implants

Avatar f tn I was considering getting this lump removed but it's so big they would have to remove breast tissue, and I don't know if that's a good idea since I'm unsure how implants work with this disease... Without having a mastectomy.
Avatar f tn I have saline breast implants over the muscle. They will be ten yrs old in march. over the past six months nearly every bone & joint in my body has started hurting. I'm having chest wall pain and if I don't wear a bra every second, it feels as if my left breast is actually pulling the muscles away from my rib cage. My left breast also feels bruised on top. I don't think it's changed size, and I don't feel a lump.
Avatar n tn Saline implants. 4 rounds AC. Neg nodes. BRCA2 positive. Last week I found a lump on my left breast.(Same breast as original diagnosis) It is under the skin, maybe 5ml., very hard. It is not a part of my implant. I do regular exams so it is 'new'. Went to Dr. right away and am scheduled for a mammogram/sono to check it out. I can't find any info on new cancers or much info on reccurance after 10 years. Any thoughts or ideas. I am 45, post menopausal (oopherectomy in 2005).
453893 tn?1205863401 Hi, I am assuming that you had breast implants for augmentation (size enhancement) , and not for reconstruction (after mastectomy etc). Breast implants, especially the silicone gel variety used in the 1980's and 1990's, were known to rupture and leak. Currently, saline filled implants are widely used in the USA, and newer materials are undergoing tests.
Avatar n tn My wife had silicone gel breast implants 22 years ago. The radiologist reported her mamogram last week shows either calcification, scar tissue, or leaking implants, but benign for cancer. The plastic surgeon who originally performed the operation says calcification can mask the presence of cancer. How can my wife determine for sure there's no cancer before she has her breast implants replaced?
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 38 yr mom of 5, breast fed all my children, started my period at 12. Recently visited my Dr for a physical. I brought his attention to a lump in my r breast on just outside the areola towards the underarm side. I waited 3 weeks for a mam, then sent directly to the ultrasound room. Two days later my dr called to tell me I needed a biopsy, the radiologist was concerned about "irregular margins", the lump is solid, immovable and irregular shaped.
Avatar n tn The risks are very low and they feel more like real breast. I to will be getting implants after the expanders have done thier work. But I am getting gummy implants. They are fairly new to the US but have been used in Canada and abroad for years. They feel fabulous and the contents are like gummy bear material. But again if I had to choose between silicone or saline I would choose silicone every time. My PS says they are safe.
Avatar n tn Your real risk is extension of the problem ino the cavity where the breast implants were placed and secondary infection. Careful follow-up with your doctor as you are doing is your best solution for a successful outcome.
Avatar n tn Went to the breast surgeon in September for a 6 month followup. She was concerned with the lump and aspirated it. The sample was negative. I asked for an ultrasound. Although she said it may not show anything, she prescribed the test. It did not show the lump. I was told by the radiologist that if it was fat nicosis, somehow it would show up on the ultrasound. As mentioned before, it did not show up. Do I walk away and forget about this lump and retest in 6 months?
Avatar f tn any advise please Hi i had breast implants but in, in June 07 i was a 32a and had 245 anatomic implants.
Avatar n tn This is for my mom. She got breast implants about 6 years ago if not longer and just about 6 months ago she had them taking out. And after everything went back to normal she would touch her right breast closer to the arm and it had a knot and went back to the guy that did her reduction and said it was nothing. So she went somewhere else and they told her he had left a piece of the tubing in there and has caused her a lot of pain. She says it feels like burning like inflamatory.
Avatar n tn I also have a large lump in one breast and my stomach is so hard I can't wear the same pants that I use to wear although I haven't gained any weight, plus I can't wear pants with a zipper in them. Needless to say I am not too happy with the operation but especially the breathing problems.
Avatar n tn They used lidocaine, so it really doesn't hurt...and you don't have much feeling in the new breast anyway. Approx 6 weeks after they "create the nipple", they tatoo the areola. Lidocaine and then they draw the shape in accordance with your other nipple, then tatoo. Also not difficult. The bad thing is you have to be careful of the area for a week so that it can heal properly...
1091198 tn?1256877872 i saw the surgeaon and he said he wants me to have an MRI because the lesion in question is not able to be felt because I have breast implants , he said he thinks it nothing , see I had a mammogram & the tech was not able to get good pics because she couldn't maipulate my implants which have capular contrature, any way she said I should get an ultrasound , she turned in the pics she could get which I don't understand why....
1819745 tn?1317213301 So glad to find you all, although I wish it were under different circumstances. I was diagnosed with IGM of my left breast in October of 2008, after 3 1/2 months of testing & biopsies. Once cancer was ruled out and they found the disease was in my right breast as well I made the scary, but very logical to me, decision to have a bilateral mastectomy in January of 2009. I now go once a year for a mammogram to determine whether or not any cells from the disease have reappeared.
976316 tn?1248210206 I just had open heart surgery a valve replaced 2 weeks ago. Yesterday started having sever right breast pain I have implants. Is this normal are should I be worried.the pain is so bad I can't but be worried. Also my thyroids have gotten way out of wak.
Avatar n tn Anyway, I had very bad pain on rt. breast on the side of it (outer) and under armpit area. It did not go away completely after my cylce was over, still some pain and tenderness.I cannot feel any lumps ,but I do press on that area ALL day long.mY husband says this is causing the pain.Is this possible? Could it be an underwire bra doing this along with the new use of the pectoral muscle area and the fibrocystic together?
Avatar n tn I had bilateral mastectomy with tissue expander reconstruction, silicone implants. I had 6 cycles of chemo. I have found a lump on the outside of my non cancer breast a few months ago. An ultrasound and MRI showed nothing conclusive. It has gotten a little bigger in the last six weeks since the tests were taken. I have moved to a new city in the last year and don't have a good familiarity with any of my Dr's.
Avatar f tn My aunt, mother's sister, died two years ago after battling Her2 Positive breast cancer. I have breast implants and I decided, it may be best to see a specialist...I will keep you posted.
Avatar f tn Is that true? My other breast cancer, 17 years ago, was a lump that I found myself and it was just under 1 cm. Thats not a microcalcification right? Do I understand that if these little circular cells were separated it would not be a bad thing but the fact that they are clustering could be a problem? Is that correct.
Avatar m tn Hi again, A foreign body reaction of the breast, also known as "foreign body giant cell inflammation" is a non-malignant response that can occur after an injection, trauma, surgery, radiation, etc. There may OR MAY NOT be an actual "foreign body" ( such as implants or a stitch left after surgery) involved.
Avatar n tn I notced in the last 2-3 months a large lump, asymmetrical in the area where my underarm meets my breast (which is right where the lipo was done) I showed my plastic surgeon, he gave me antibiotics, but still there and not shrinking. It is the size of a very large grape, round, squishy feeling and does not hurt. I am going back to him to get it looked at again. I am only 33- and no history of breast cancer in family.
Avatar f tn The fear that swept over me at my first gynecological appointment after chemo, surgery, more chemo and radiation when she found a lump in my left breast is a fear that I never want to experience again. I cried and couldn't stop crying. I was devastated because I had asked the surgeon to remove both breasts and he refused to do so. I don't know what I would have done if I had cancer again. But, this I had some control over.
Avatar f tn I have lumps in both breasts but one lump in my left breast is much bigger than all of them and it makes my left breast larger than my right. I'm only 23 so it makes me feel extremely insecure and hard to be intimate. I am just curious if it is possible to have the lumps removed and implants put in?
Avatar n tn I have found a small lump on the same breast, however it is in another area. It seems to be the size of a pea. When I apply pressure to find the lump it feels sore. I am scheduled for a mammogram next week. Is it possible that the cancer is back? Should I be worrried? My brother recently died of liver cancer. So you can see why I am uneasy.
Avatar n tn I too have this problem! It stated soon after a got a breast lift and implants to correct a slight tubular breast disorder. I was wondering if it could have anything to do with the implants or the scars or just the fact that my breasts are bigger than they were. My problem, though, is that its a very strong oder! I'm not sure if people can smell it but I constantly worry that they can.
Avatar f tn in 2005 I had Cohesive silicone breast implants under muscle. Implants were replaced in 2006 due to one sitting higher than the other. Were replaced over muscle. Axilla pain increased. 2007 ultrasound showed lymph had grown - FNA showed silicone and macrophages in lymph node. After the FNA the pain became intense in the lymph node. Pain continued and began interrupting my sleep. Yr later another FNA and Dr decided to remove node in May 2011. I noticed swelling in right arm pit and breast.
