Avatar f tn If you have a bilateral mastectomy like SueYoung55 said, without reconstruction, this will enable you to play golf the fastest, and it may also in the end be something you wish you had done instead of any reconstruction. Reconstruction, and I have heard too many horror stories, is extremely painful, takes long to heal and worse, more often than anyone may guess, ends up with the patient in tears.
Avatar f tn Hi..i just want to know how big was the insicion..was it done like a liposuction? Did you have to do any lab work at all? When you saw your GP, he confirmed that it's a breast tissue? Did your insurance cover it or part of it? Are you in the US? Pardon me, I have so many questions.
Avatar n tn My surgery is March 02, 2007 and I'm quite anxious but ready to get it over with and move on with my life without the constant worry of breast cancer. I've chosen silicone implants that they will place immediately after my bilateral mastectomy. I will not be having expanders. I will post as soon as I'm able and let everyone know how it went and what my experience was like. As women with difficult decisions to make, I think every bit of information is helpful...good or bad.
Avatar f tn The plastic surgeon that I saw said I have a double D and at age fifty five, I would not be satisfied with implants. My breast that I have left will need reduction and lift. I weigh one sixty five and I am five four. I am in good health otherwise and exercise and remain active. I do not smoke.
Avatar n tn And then I guess, if you complain, your doctor may suddenly not be your best friend anymore. I have heard of such horror stories, it seems like the worse the nightmare, the faster they try to get you out of the door, and no other plastic surgeon will touch you either. Luckily yours is not a nightmare but I really have empathy. I don't know how long it would take for you to heal but from what I have heard, it takes quite a while, like many months.
Avatar n tn I'm going to get a steriotactic biopsy monday the 11th and have horror stories about the pain, can you help prepare me?
Avatar n tn I am very happy overall with my choice, as I would be terrified of a recurrence if I still had my breasts. But some of the horror stories here would have made me hesitate about this procedure if I had read them in the past.
Avatar n tn I had 2 stereotactic biopsies and they weren't that bad. I had read some of the horror stories before and after and feel very lucky. I was terrified at the very least. None of this is fun. The waiting is awful. I'm glad you found this site. It's really great. I don't know how I could have gotten through it without the women here. Mine was also a Birad 4 and all turned out just fine. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn ---I guess all those women with health issues due to the breast implants are delusional!! So apparently none of what I am saying or feeling has any basis in reality or science. This is pretty much what most health care practitioners say. Meanwhile, my health and energy levels continue to decline. I was not able to get a removal date until the 24th.
Avatar n tn I had had 8 biopsies since 1991 and am relieved that my breast tissue is GONE! Final saline implants will be place October 24, 2005, then nipples reconstructed and tatooed shortly thereafter. Husband(50), son(19), and daughter(17) were totally supportive. No chemo, nor radiation will be done. I am three months post-op, and feel great!
Avatar f tn Should I go to Planned Parenthood for a blood test or anything? I have heard horror stories of girls not being able to tell until way later in their pregnancy- and as a college student I am not prepared for a baby. I am trying to improve my life and this is causing so much stress. I am in need of advice. I realize there is a chance of being pregnant any time you have unprotected sex and that I may not have enough HCG in my body- but can anyone help me?
Avatar f tn I have had 7 surgeries for osteoarthritis in the last few years, and I remember reading the horror stories about joint implants that didn't go well. I'm doing great with 2 knees and 1 shoulder implant! So I'll do well with thyroid removal, too!
Avatar n tn Needless to say it's unnerving. Have heard a lot of horror stories, but reading all the posts above, for the most part have enlightened me a little. I know there can be problems sometimes and everyone is different. But reading your posts makes me feel like I might actually make it through without going through a living hell. Not even sure yet if I'll have surgery, but if it comes to that.
Avatar n tn Then in July 2008 I had endometrial cells turn up on my Pap test and the gynecologist I was seeing at the time wanted to do a biopsy but because I had heard so many horror stories I looked online for alternatives, and I happen to find out about the TruTest Tao Brush biopsy from actress Fran Drescher who was misdiagnosed with endometrial cancer for 2 years, and she is very big on educating for early detection, and she recommends this test.
225570 tn?1191290673 I've thought about getting onto it to help me get off Xanax and I've heard horror stories, such as one by the pop star Stevie Nicks who said she was on Klonopin for a while and gained a bunch of weight.
Avatar n tn You will see all kinds of dangerous side effects which could put a person in worse condition (or major disease, like breast cancer) than they already are in. I have heard some promising things about biodentical hormones, but I haven't had time to research long term effects and its not 100% natural, so I didn't do that either. I haven't heard any negative side effects yet, but I think it is kind of new.
429155 tn?1205676864 30 Watch telly and chat with Terri, then on the computer to read more oxy horror stories, start to get shivers and feel wooly headed and sick, legs hurt and feel nauseas. 18;00 Collect curry, feel real bad, pint of Guiness was awful, felt really bad on way home, sick when stopped car/have meal/bed/cannot sleep up about 10 times, pains in legs arms and now shoulder.
Avatar f tn MORAL OF THE STORY - NEVER GET THIS SHOT - ive read too many horror stories of women who experienced rapid mind boggling weight gain in very short periods of time, and have since come off the drug and had horrible periods or maintained the weight - for up to yearsss after coming off of it. i'm very angry if you couldn't tell.
Avatar f tn I had that done yesterday and I have to tell you, I have never been so scared in my life! I think I might have read too much info on that subject. I read such horror stories about the pain of the first 2-4 injections. I had really worked myself up into quite a little 'mental' mess. They did not give me any type of topical cream/oitment and as far as the Lydocane (sp) for numbing...I would have to have 4 of them - then there would have been 8 total injections.
Avatar n tn I know it feels like a baby moving because I have been pregnant before. At first I thought I had breast cancer because of my breast leaking but since I have the bigger belly and the movements i believe I'm pregnant. So I am going to have an ultrasound done on the 31st. I am due to have my next period tomorrow and I'm pretty sure it's not coming. So on the 31st I will post and let you guys know if you can bleed during your pregnancy.

Avatar n tn Not until about the last two weeks, MY NEW Symptom, hard sore breast. I did breast feed, and this reminded me of engorged lactating breast. I also have had insatiable appetite. Don't want to go back to ob, all she will say is no worry's. I also have gone through about 12 pregnancy test over the past 2 1/2 years, do to all these symptoms , repeating to myself "I'm not crazy, rather be safe than sorry" blah!
Avatar n tn I can not take birth control because of family history of breast cancer. I would not reccommend the Para Gard. I have had severe cramp and horrible monthly cycles. I nver had any kind of health problems or female problems until I used the para gard.
Avatar n tn (for me anyway) I have been pregnant 6 times and had this feeling at 7 wks with 3 of them. My breast hurt immediately (wk to 2 wks) after conception with most of them. If not immediately soreness then at least by 5 wks, definitely.(ouch!) Sometimes your body is slow to show signs but if you begin to notice them, go take your tests. I have had faded test results and this just means early pregnancy. I usually keep my urine sticks and check them hourly.
Avatar n tn She did not feel ill at all in fact was full of life, but had breast cancer 8 years ago and had a double mastectomy and econstructive surgery. This has come as a huge shock to all the family and to my sister and her husband, and we just don't know what to expect, she is a bright outgoing lady, and the thought of her being in any pain or losing her mind is tearing me apart. What can I do for her she has not even cried and i can tell she is terrified about what lies ahead of her.
Avatar n tn The same sort of thing went on years ago about silicone breast implants. Millions were paid out in class action suits. Horrible symptoms all over the place. Guess what? Not a single study has ever conclusively linked them with any health problem. It is extremely common for women to have hormone disruptions that can cause every one of your symptoms. If you believe strongly that something is the cause, and you take that thing away, 99% of the time the symptoms will clear up, too.
Avatar n tn oops. I just re-read what I wrote, that should have said I am now with a wonderful man!!!
Avatar n tn My breast are sore, I have gained a ton of weight, I crave sweets, I go to the restroom every 5 to 10 minutes...What do you think?
Avatar f tn I just want to look normal. I have a pretty flat chest, too, and I'd never, ever get breast implants. So I'm not some freak who hates her entire body. It's just this one stupid thing.
