Avatar f tn Oh my goodness. This is a lot to worry about for you! I'm sorry!! So, you are a breast cancer survivor in remission? When do you get your pet scan results? It is my understanding that metastasis in the bones typically will have pain associated with it. The other thing that is common to it is broken bones. You are having some pain. I'm glad you got checked out. My dear friend died after metastasis in bones/breast cancer but it was in her chest bones. Very sad. https://www.
Avatar f tn hi to all.My mother was diagnosed recently with breast cancer and had a mastectomy done.the doctor said that out of 13 lymph nodes removed from her armpit, 11 had cancer. she is right now on chemotherapy with something that the doctor called an AC regime. All her workup tests showed negative for cancer spread.but now she has got low backache. She had a slip disc few years back.could the recent pain be due to cancer spread to the bones? The bone scan was negative when done one month back.
Avatar f tn s attending physician for proper management. The CT scan findings showed breast cancer with metastasis or spread of the cancer to the other organs mentioned. Factors such as her complete medical history, symptoms and results of other diagnostic tests are important considerations also. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn I have seen and heard of patients developing NHL secondary to chemotherapy treatment for another cancer; that is possible. I am trying to figure out how the Oncologist is using the CA 15-3 and CEA markers; can't see how it ties into monitoring the NHL.
Avatar f tn Cancer antigen 27-29 (CA 27-29) can be used in monitoring for breast cancer recurrence and also response to treatment. Your daughter’s baseline value is 17.3. The assay can be repeated during and after treatment, and compared to the baseline value. Results should be correlated clinically, in conjunction with other laboratory examinations. Good luck on your daughter’s treatment.
Avatar n tn What is the method to look for a bone metastases from breast cancer? I have had awful pain in my right arm/shoulder for 4 months. MRI showed torn biceps tendon and other small bursal tears and tendonitis, and a rotator cuff tear. Would a bone metastases have been revealed on the MRI of my arm and shoulder? Should I ask for a bone scan? I am 57 years old and have been cancer free since a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis 8 years ago. I am worried that the pain does not go away.
Avatar n tn I am writing on the connection of cancer in general (but breast cancer is specific) on cardiovascular risk associated with breast cancer. I am aware that treatment, whether it be chemo or radiation, can cause issues but I have been unable to find anything to support that the cancer itself causes problems. My prof assures me that it does. If anyone could help me out, or point me in the right direction on this topic I would be very grateful.
Avatar n tn i thought i was in the professional area. im confused how this works here. can i even delete this thread here. frustrated.
Avatar m tn t support a biopsy because this could be due to a wide range of inflammations (she is a smoker too), and one doctor said that this is not the typical route of metastasis of breast cancer. Her CA 15-3 and Alkaline phosphate levels are all within normal ranges. Would appreciate it if you can let me know what you think. Thanks!!!

Avatar f tn Finally, have other family members had breast, uterine, or ovarian cancer? Age 27 is very young to get epithelial ovarian cancer. Could your family have a genetic risk of getting these caners? if so, other family members such as yourself should be checked by pelvic ultrasound. Your sister should have gene testing to look for a mutation that is hereditary. I have pasted a few links for you to look at. best wishes http://www.ovarian.org/types_and_stages.php http://www.cancer.
Avatar f tn When I was initially diagnosed with breast cancer (in April, 2008), one of the tests performed was a CT Scan (of thorax, chest, abdomen, and pelvis). The CT Scan showed *no* abnormalities. Q1. Can I take this as confirmation that there is absolutely *no* metastasis to the regions that were scanned? Or, should a PET Scan be performed? Q2.
Avatar n tn A sclerotic lesion on CT is indeterminate, possibly representing bone island versus blastic metastasis. If history of cancer such as breast cancer, nuclear medicine whole body bone scan and/or PET/CT can serve as a tiebreaker. Lack of hypermetabolic activity on your bone scan favors benign bone island (or treated bony metastasis).
Avatar f tn Certain genetic defects or mutations causing breast cancer can also lead to the development of other cancer types. Defects in the BRCA-2 tumor suppressor gene can lead to breast, ovarian, melanoma and pancreatic cancers. A defect in the PTEN tumor suppressor gene on the other hand, results in Cowden's syndrome, characterized by a markedly increased risk of breast and thyroid cancer.
Avatar n tn my mom is suffering frm breast cancer, she has had 6 sessions of chemotherapy and has also undergone mastectomy now she is going ho have radiation for 5weeks ,is it necessary for her to undergo radiation as her biopsy reports suggests that she doesnt have metastasis, and that she had in nerves. Will she be completely cured after radiation.?
Avatar n tn That is a good question for the patients surgeon and endocrinologist! I had breast surgery first (this is 12 years ago) and then my thyroidectomy 2 months later and radiation a few months after that. I guess the treatment options would be treated in order of priority. Is the patient already diagnosed with breast cancer as well??
Avatar n tn From 2002, i was suffering from Metastasis Breast Cancer and after 2004, some multiple cysts have formed and it was in 2007 there were two large ovarian masses of size about 10cm in length, breadth and width and one mass over the left adrenal gland. And in the year 2008, i was suffering from severe ascites. Is there any remedy to this problem?
Avatar f tn 2 cm in one breast only. With a family history of breast cancer, I opted for bilateral mastectomies with SN Biops. which were negative, and other breast was without disease. The tumor is ER pos, Pr neg. Her2/neu negative and was also evaluated by Oncotype DX. The recurrence score was 27 so I've completed 4 cycles of Taxotere and Cytoxan. I have been on Arimidex for 4 months. What might be my chances of a distant metastasis? I have pre-osteopenia per a bone density.
Avatar f tn hello, is it possible that cancer cells can be missed by a pathologist when a segmental excision breast biopsy is done? If that happens what will happen next?will it metastasis in other organs or the other breast?what are the early symptoms if that happens?please give an answer.
