Common Questions and Answers about Breast cancer neck nodes

neck

Avatar f tn My last tests were all clear but I now have a large lymph node in front of my shoulder, well below the collar bone. The supraclavicular nodes were all removed with the cancer in December and these nodes were clear. The cancer was in the lymph nodes in Level 4 and 5. Do you think this could be more cancer? I didn't think we had lymph nodes in the front lower part of the shoulder. I thought they were in the breast or armpit area. What are the chances this is more cancer?
Avatar f tn I had Breast Cancer 5 years ago..Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy, followed and two years ago I had a double Mastectomy and breast Reconstruction. Last year left side of my neck started to swell..was told it may be Lymphedema, in the meantime I've had MRI, Bone Scan, Cat Scan all rule out cancer. So I'm left with Lymphedema in my neck...but no ones knows how to treat it. The swelling is very noticeable and the area is sore. Arm is weak.
Avatar f tn about a month ago, I noticed lymph nodes in my neck being painful. Then my elbow started hurting, then my arms got really sore. Next the left arm was really painful and slightly swollen and my neck and chest lymph nodes got more swollen. my doctor said a virus or infection and gave me antibiotics. that was two weeks ago. I have since had my yearly mammogram and was told i had to come back for further studies. I have a nodule in my left breast that is bigger than last year.
1644310 tn?1301071071 Now i still have the swollen nodes in my neck and my arm pit and the one in breast feels a little larger and have no other symptoms. Is a breast specialist who i need to see? I am only 28, Breast cancer and lymphoma are both in my family and I feel confused and disregarded. Should i pursue this or just drop it and hope they all unswell over time?
Avatar n tn I went to one surgeon who wanted to investigate my lymph nodes, and possibly biopsy them before the surgery, and possibly do a neck dissection. I am hesitant to do this because of increased chances of complications. Another surgeon I went to said he would not go into the neck dissection, b/c none of my lymph nodes appear affected on ultrasound. My question is, if they leave my lymph nodes alone now, how will they know if there is cancer in them and will they need to betaken out latter?
Avatar f tn All of the above findings suggest that the neck nodes are absolutely benign. Normally neck nodes (and nodes at other sites such as armpits and groin) are present in every individual and these are a normal part of the body's immune system. They help in fighting infections. Usually size of neck nodes are <5 mm and hence they are not felt on routine examination, especially if they are located a bit deep.
Avatar m tn t see anywhere in your post that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer so this is pretty much out of our realm of expertise here as we deal strictly with Breast Cancer issues. This seems to be an issue for Internal Medicine or possibly Cancer in General/ Oncology. I can answer your last question : 1. nodule -- a fairly hard more or less round abnormal structure. 2. node -- similar to the nodule except that it is not an abnormal finding. 3.
Avatar n tn had mammo and ultrasound. radiologist said not breast or lung cancer. he did find also enlarged lymph nodes under left armpit. then saw surgeon and she also found enlarged lymph nodes by groin. I have zero symptoms of lymphoma. all drs are thinking it can be that. what do you think. all enlarged lymph nodes are on my left side. I have zero history of cancer in my family. had needle biopsy on friday and am awaiting test results. also what causes this?
Avatar n tn Hello. I have had swollen lymph nodes (on both side of my neck, more on the left, and in my armpit) for a few month, I recently went to the doctor and was put on broad spectrum antibiotics. I have finished the antibiotics but the lymph nodes in my neck are still the same size and the ones in my arm pit are slightly larger. Is this something to be concerned about?
Avatar n tn Hopefully they will order a diagnostic mammogram right away (and they might want to order an ultrasound of the breast as well). Also, ask them to feel the lymph nodes in your neck for any enlarged ones and see if there is any lab tests they want to run with your symptoms. About the neck- do you think it may be a muscle knot?
Avatar f tn Also I forgot to say that while I was at the hospital they felt lymph nodes under my arm or top of my breast however you want to put it. My question is what do I do now? I am scared that I may inflammatory breast cancer because of the way it looks. Thank you for your time.
2208860 tn?1339007795 I have been referred to an edocronoloist for thyroid issies and possible cushions syndrome, My father died of lung, mouth and throat cancer along with liver cancer. Should I be concerned this could be cancer? I cant seem to get the doctors to understand how severe this is. I have been out of work due to this going on 3 weeks. I have read up on pancoast tumors and all signs point to this???
494669 tn?1275362475 The most common sign of breast cancer is a lump or thickening in the breast. Other potential signs of breast cancer include: a spontaneous clear or bloody discharge from the nipple, retraction or indentation of your nipple, a change in the size or contours of the breast, flattening or indentation of the skin over the breast or redness or pitting of the skin over your breast.

Avatar n tn Dear dmw13, Over the internet without being able to evaluate the scan, physical exam and question it is difficult to advise or to explain your doctors concern specifically for breast cancer. Lymph nodes can be enlarged for a number of reasons including cancer, and having this further evaluated is appropriate.
Avatar f tn So if you have any such infection or even if it is something as simple as dandruff or poor oral hygiene or dental infection, then this needs to be checked. Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc.
Avatar f tn What are the chances that this is from my original breast cancer.. or could this possibly be a NEW cancer? Could this just be a fatty cyst? It doesnt move.. its hard.. and I have no pain at all. I never realized it was there until the Dr showed me..What type of biopsy would they use? and could I be knocked out for this procedure. I have had many breast biopsies over the last 8 yrs..lung biopsy, and lymph nodes..
Avatar f tn I am still waiting for that appointment. I am 36 yrs old with no history of breast cancer in my very large family. Any thoughts on what could be plaguing me? I have no other symptoms, no fever, no weight loss, no night sweats. Just the painless lump and swollen and tender lymph nodes. All on my left side. I'm really scared but want to be fully prepared. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have a puffy area on one breast, and a little pink spot near the nipple, and some very subtle differences in the areola compared to the other breast. Maybe people would think I'm crazy to think it's that weird, but a PET scan showed active lymph nodes in my axillary region and neck and blood tests show elevated sedimentation rate and high gammaglobulins (possible cancer, but nonspecific so not necessarily).
Avatar m tn My doctors at home differ from each other as to whether this is a result of the surgery or a symptom of developing inflammatory breast cancer. My appointment with a breast specialist is not for three weeks, but I know that IBC is very aggressive and that seems like too long to wait. I had labs done Friday and my sed rate is now 40 (0-20 ref.) and CRP is .22 (.2-10.0 ref.). Do these labs indicate that it is likely NOT a growing cancer, or are they alarming, or irrelevant?
