Breast abscess on ultrasound

Common Questions and Answers about Breast abscess on ultrasound

abscess

Avatar f tn s where it all started. The abscess I got on the first spot on my breast lasted for 9 months (I had maybe 4 recurrence) but it healed on its own without taking any antibiotics or creams. After a few weeks, I noticed that I have a growing abscess 1 inch away from the old spot and I have somehow a similar "abscess" forming 5 inches above my vagina (near where the pubic hairs are).
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar n tn Breast lump. Found a small lump on areola. It is fixed, hard and irregular in shape. It is on the surface of the areola. Anyone have something like this? Waht is it?
Avatar n tn I recently found a large breast lump which after a mammogram and ultrasound was determined to be a breast abscess. It was asprirated, I was treated with antibotics. I still have breast pain after 4 weeks. I had another ultrasound which indicates 2 cyst in the same area. The cysts are not perfectly round. Should I have a biopsy?
Avatar f tn How are you? It's good that you are having regular mammogram and check-ups. Ultrasound has excellent contrast resolution and quickly determines if a suspicious area is in fact a cyst or an increased density of solid tissue. On the other hand, lymph nodes may become enlarged or swollen any time they produce additional white blood cells to ward off an infection. These infections are often benign and may swell from the formation of an abscess in the nodes or if they contain cancer cells.
Avatar f tn I saw a surgeon ( who has done 2 benign breast biopsies on the left breast in the past) who did an ultrasound. It showed a large area of inflammation but no specific pocket of infection and 2 cysts that I did not know I had. He did a FNA but was only able to aspirate blood. This was sent for a culture. He put me on duricef. I saw him a week later. The area of hardness had decreased. Surprisingly, the culture came back as pseudomonas. My dr was shocked.
Avatar f tn The larger one is still a little weepy... I find small amounts of clear yellowish fluid on my breast bad daily. It also looks a little indented where the abscess used to be. The bruising is now minimal, and I am not in any pain. How are you doing? Unfortunately, I feel another one coming to the surface. Hoping this nightmare ends soon. Take care.

Avatar f tn I think in my last post (almost a mth ago) I mentioned been declined by my breast specialist since I didnt wanna go on Prednisone. Things have just been the same with breast abscess bursting open before my periods. These last 15 days developed a new cyst like mass just above my suregry scar. Also underwent an Ultrasound which was long time pending ever since my wide excision surgery for the breast abscess in Oct 2010.
Avatar f tn s still a large area of the breast. My ultrasound only showed swollen tissue. How long until the hard area will resolve? I'm scheduled for a follow up with my surgeon next week and he says he will biopsy it it is still there. I've tried everything to resolve it, but it keeps coming back. Is this a normal amount of time for mastitis to resolve?
Avatar f tn I recently had a bloody discharge from my left nipple, this was a large amount, bleed through my bra onto my shirt. I went to a Breast Cancer doctor, had a mammogram and ultrasound, showed nothing except dense tissue in left breast. They took a smear of the discharge, results came back with benign atypical cells, what does that mean? I had an MRI done on friday, still waiting on results.

Avatar f tn Severe pain in one breast can be due to fibroadenosis or due to abscess. You must immediately consult a breast clinic if you have not yet. Abscess can cause a lot of problems if not drained. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn What you've read is pretty much "right on" .. any breast abscess is VERY difficult to deal with and can take months and months to cure. As to why they occur is anyone's guess usually. Since you have had complete surgical removal of the area I would think you have a good chance of complete recovery although as you say ... it's a "pain" in more ways than one. You'll just have to keep up the prescribed treatment however difficult it may seem.
Avatar f tn My primary gave me an antibiotic shot, and said that I should see the breast specialist again. The breast surgeon said that there is an abscess forming on top of the original mass (she called it a secondary infection). She put a nick in there and pus came out. She put a wick in there and asked me to come back in a week. For the whole week it drained pus every day, and we changed the bandage every day.
Avatar n tn I have been reading the posts here for clues to what I may have but feel I am now more confused than ever. What is a breast papilloma? I have a lump on my left breast about an inch above my aereola. The surface of it is visible as it is kind of shiny. It started out small and is very slowly getting larger and more noticeable. It is beginning to look like I am getting more of the small ones on the same breast.
7297290 tn?1389935928 Well it dried up and now i have been noticing a hold on my breast about the size of a sharpie pen felt tip..and it drains clear liquid. My concern is if this is normal?..Will the hole close on its own?..
Avatar f tn Hi, This could be an infected cyst,or maybe an abscess that can occur on the breast like on any other part on the body. These kind of infected lumps are usually treated with antibiotics. But if it keeps coming back, surgical removal of the infected area may be necessary. I don't think you should be worrying too much, because it doesn't sound at all like a breast cancer symptom, but you should see your doctor ASAP so that this painful lump can be adequately treated. Best wishes...
