Breast abscess after lumpectomy

Common Questions and Answers about Breast abscess after lumpectomy

abscess

Avatar n tn Other common etiologies would include infections such as abscess formation. These can also be due to benign breast lesions such as papilloma or fibroadenoma. An uncommon condition is Paget's disease of the breast that commonly present in the nipple area. Since there are lots of possibilities, I suggest you have this looked at by your doctor and obtain adequate tests (like mammogram or ultrasound). Regards.
Avatar f tn I am 2 weeks post breast radiation, 33 treatments. The breast is continuing to decrease in size. I didn't tolerate the treatments very well, & have large areas of discoloration under the arm, to the boost site on the front of the breast, and under the breast; but know that the discoloration will probably resolve. At a recent breast cancer support group meeting a member told me there was a type of reconstruction for lumpectomy where a tiny implant is inserted to the tumor site.
Avatar f tn Though it is normal to feel swelling and pain after lumpectomy, it usually resolves as the tissue heals. Pain relievers and evening primrose oil is commonly used in the treatment of breast pain. Evening primrose is a plant native to North America with yellow flowers that bloom in the evening. Evening primrose oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid which is required by the body for growth and development.
Avatar m tn I am thinking to do the same. After the lumpectomy and radiation I got inverted nipple and smaller breast. I am waiting for my onr year anniversary to see if the cancer comes back. Please keep me posted of your decison and how it would come out.
Avatar f tn However in general, radiation therapy is recommended to treat the remaining breast tissue following lumpectomy for treatment of breast cancer. During cancer treatment we generally recommend maintaining a steady weight - meaning not to increase or decrease weight by more than 10% of baseline. You may want to have a discussion with a registered dietician who can discuss and advise you regarding your specific nutrition concerns during treatment.
Avatar n tn Is anyone okay with the appearance of their breast after the lumpectomy? For the lumpectomy my doctor said something about placing a wire that could be painful. Has anyone had this? Is there much discomfort from the lumpectomy procedure or after the procedure?
Avatar f tn Once the lumpectomy site of your breast "wakes up" after the shock of surgery,it recovers some of it's senses and you can experience discomfort. The pain can last for some time. Over the counter medication can help with the pain or your doctor can prescribe a stronger pain killer. As the nerves regrow and heal, the breast is very sensitive to the touch and quite painful.Wearing a good supportive bra can also help. Also exercise can help if your surgeon has advised you to do so.
Avatar n tn Not usually ... this may be natures way of filling up the empty space ... it may come to the point where the fluid is left alone to be absorbed on it's own the way a hematoma is left to resolve itself over time. Seromas do occur fairly frequently after surgery. Were you advised to wear a tight sports type bra ?? If you Surgeon has no objection this might help with the soreness. Regards ....
Avatar n tn I had a lumpectomy last Oct. 15th, which showed no cancer, but about 6-8 weeks after surgery I had a small red irritated spot on my skin (kind of almost looks like exema? it has continued to spread, is is on half of breast that had lumpectomy and all around scar. Anyone else with anything similar?
Avatar n tn I have had intermittent pain in my breast since the surgery. My incision is at the very bottom of my breast, which is where the cells were. Most of my pain is in the area around the nipple and the nipple itself. In general, the pain has been moderate, mostly very sensitive (in a bad way) to touch. In the last couple of days I have begun experiencing persistent and more severe pain from the incision site to the entire area around the nipple. Is this normal?
1486724 tn?1288051470 It almost feels like a swollen duct or something. I had one lumpectomy. The pain is on the opposite side that the lumpectomy was on.I am going in the morning to have the mammosite put in so I will be seeing the Dr. then.
549575 tn?1214838616 Are there other symptoms such as fever, chest pain or swelling? Was there trauma to your breast wihin the past 2 months after your biopsy? After lumpectomy, there is usually little pain. There may be temporary unpleasant sensations, including numbness and a pinching or pulling feeling in the underarm area but this also resolves when the tissue heals. But with this increasing pain, it would be best to call your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn How long take after a lumpectomy my breast come back to normal, I mean not still swallen the area? This discussion is related to rash after lumpectumy.
Avatar n tn i had a lumpectomy 3 years ago. finished ny chemo in december 05 and finished radiation in march 06, i am 51 years old and would like to reconstruct, can an implant be used This discussion is related to breast reconstruction after lumpectomy.
Avatar f tn Lumpectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the breast lump or suspicious tissue seen on the mammogram and some surrounding tissue as well. Lumpectomy is also called "breast sparing", "breast conserving" or "segmental mastectomy". About 95% of women with DCIS do not require a mastectomy.
1244552 tn?1268587945 But then again you are asking if the lump can be removed without the breast or BOTH breasts. Why would they remove the entire breast and the other one if its only one lump in one breast. Please for your own sake, research, hopefully someone will have answers here on forum too because you don't want to go in blind.
Avatar f tn However, I now have a horrible 3-4 in scar from the surgery, which has left my breast disformed and ugly. Do I qualify for breast reconstruction to fix my breast, and make them uniform again, and will my insurance cover it? ( My husband is active duty military, so I have full military insurance.) Thanks for the input.
Avatar f tn i have a history of fibrocystic disease, benign breast tumors and a lumpectomy. i was on tamoxifen for 10 months but i quit takeing it because i was having hotflashes every 15 minutes. my hotflashes are still quite frequent, until yesterday. my breasts started hurting and i started bleeding. no hot flashes! the exact signs and symptoms as when i was young and of childbearing age. i am 50 years old and my periods started to become irregular in 2005.
Avatar n tn There is no evidence that mastectomy plus axillary lymph node dissection is superior to lumpectomy, axillary dissection plus whole breast irradiation in stage 2 disease (which you have). In fact, the studies indicate that the two procedures are equivalent in terms of efficacy for early breast cancer. My assumption here is that you're still going to have whole breast irradiation after the chemotherapy. I hope this helps clarify matters.
Avatar m tn 5 days ago I had a sentinal node biopsy and a second lumpectomy to get clean margins. The doc took 5 nodes one of which was positive for cancer. He did not insert a drain and for the last 3 days I can hear fluid sloshing around in my breast. Is this 'normal'? Also has anyone heard of not doing a total node removal if only one node was found to have micromalignancies?
