Braxton hicks contractions vs labor contractions

Common Questions and Answers about Braxton hicks contractions vs labor contractions

contractions

Avatar f tn Braxton Hicks are real contractions but they're not strong enough to begin pulling the cervix open. Very rarely, women do get into late labor and they don't know it. They say bewildering things like "well I was in horrible pain that kept coming and going all day but it didn't occur to me I was in labor". I don't get that at all.
Avatar n tn Many women say these “false” contractions feel like mild menstrual cramps. Braxton Hicks contractions may be uncomfortable, but they do not cause labor or open the cervix.
Avatar f tn They probably are Braxton hicks. Thats how mi e feel, like cramps but a bit sharper. If ur stomach is tightening qhile ur cramping and they are consistent n strong thats more like a contraction.
Avatar f tn If you are having more then 6 braxton hicks in an hour you should call your doctor. It is perfectly normal to have braxton hicks threw out your second and third trimester. Are the contractions painful? If you think your having real contractions and you can time then closer then 10 minutes apart and arnt yet 37 weeks you should go to the hospital. Braxton hicks are just your body's way of preparing for labor and are absolutely nothing to worry about.
Avatar f tn I have those! But my midwife said they were braxton hicks... everyone tells me that braxton hicks dont feel like that but also that contractions dont either..
Avatar f tn How often should I be having Braxton hicks? I get them extremely often and was wondering if it's normal? They're starting to get lower like down into my pelvis.
Avatar f tn My last pregnancy was 10yrs ago, and I don't remember having any contractions. I keep hearing that I'll know when I have one, Braxton Hicks or real labor, because my stomach will tighten. Can someone please be a little more descriptive?
Avatar f tn Well ive had braxton hicks for about 3 months it i know how it feels,, braxton hicks are more like my stomach tightening but this is tightening plus cramps
Avatar f tn Also if you drink water and lay down and they lessen or go away that is false labor or braxton hicks. If no matter what you do they get worse and you can time them (and they are consistant) then that is real labor. I thought with braxton hicks if you got up and walked they were suppose to get better. One night I was having horrible pains, like contractions, and they wouldn't go away. I called in and they told me to lay down and drink water.
Avatar f tn Is 18 weeks too early to have braxton hicks? Thwy hurt like hell and make me feel sick to my stomach!
Avatar f tn Okay so I was having contractions yesterday but I assumed it was braxton Hicks because they were like 7 or 8 mins apart lasting about 5 mins and im having them again but they feel a little closer together but they aren't lasting long at all so those are also braxton right?
Avatar f tn I'm 33+1 and I'm trying to figure out if I'm having braxton hicks or contractions... I'm in a lot of pain on the right side of my tummy and in my lower back but it only happens every 10 minutes or so and the tightening last about 5 minutes or so. I know braxton hicks are not suppose to hurt or maybe they do? Scared of preterm labor but need to know if I should worry. It happened 3 times already.
Avatar f tn It could be braxton hicks if its not painful. Of they come and go with no pattern and really spaced out then it is.
Avatar f tn I posted earlier that I was having sharp pains and that they went away but they are back again in my tummy hips and other area.. And I been drinking plenty of fluids to Braxton Hicks shouldn't be hurting should they or is it the real contractions?
Avatar f tn Could be contractions braxton hicks are not suppose to hurt. But pain at the top of bump could be something with the placenta so if it were me I'd let my Dr asap.
7758733 tn?1402589420 I started having contractions @ 25 weeks and I would feel them coming from my back to the front of my belly and they would get stronger , im not 35 weeks and I feel Braxton hicks once in a while they're not as strong as menstrual cramps and they also do not increase in pain
Avatar f tn Feel your stomach is it hard Like your nose? Thats braxton hicks. Is your belly hard like your forehead? Thats labor contractions.
Avatar f tn Yes contractions can start before water breaks. I've experienced Braxton Hicks contractions that have lasted hours every 5 - 10 minutes but never increasing in intensity or becoming labor. With my first it wasn't until I was induced 11 days past due date that I felt a real contraction, and tomorrow is my due date with #2 and only Braxton Hicks so far.....when it's the real thing you won't be able to talk during a contraction and eventually your water will break.
Avatar f tn I meant other then pain haha. They are def painful. I'm not sure if it's just baby moving or Braxton hicks or actual contractions. I feel like an idiot but I didn't know I was in labor with my first or second and I didn't know I was contracting with my third.
Avatar n tn I was told my 4 hour labor was most likely due to the fact that I had so many Braxton hicks for so long.
Avatar f tn Could be the start of early labor!
Avatar n tn Its just braxton hicks contractions. Totally normal and they will increase as you get closer to your due date.
