Avatar f tn Now he needs to go for Arachnoid brain cyst. Operation-Insertion of left-Peritoneal shunt. local cost is 5 350usd. We really don't know wat to do now as he is gettin headaches n fits now. What can we do now and we are Zimbabweans but can go to South Africa for the surgery, what hospitals or doctor can you recommend? Or rather what else can we do?
Avatar f tn s really normal to feel that way because the removal of appendix and both tubes can cause greater pain and confusion in the neuron system of the brain. It's not bowel. It's really the belly button's way to signal the need for some sort of support for the ovary. Once the body is able to grow back the tubes either using stem-cell from cheap human bodies or by using the growing of brain-stomach's little-mutation cells or android tubes.
Avatar f tn The shunt was failed at the first operation, hence doctor decided to remove it out at the 2nd operation. After the 2nd operation, he was suffer from Hydrocephalus, later on he has gone through few more surgery to drain the water out from the brain. Last week, doctor has try to put in the shunt for second time, but 3 days later, the shunting failed to drain the water out again. Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with a brain cyst by my GP, she said that I probably had it since birth. She didn't really do much explaining except that it wasn't anything serious and wasn't the cause of my daily headaches. She had an MRI done on me which came out fine. I was just wondering, I have been getting my headaches back again quite often, and I was wondering if these cysts can grow?
Avatar f tn While in the hospital, it was noticed that my Blood Oxygen Saturation levels dropped below the monitoring system low alarm point. A night/sleep Oxygen level test was performed which indicated levels dropping as low as 70% several times during the test with levels never exeeding 90%. I was presribed oxgen, however, no test or diagnosis on what has caused these low levels. One test while at the hospital indicated low levels of red blood cells and other related tests showed low levels.
Avatar n tn Hello, Difficulty in urinating in males can be due to obstruction due to enlarged prostate due to benign prostatic hypertrophy (often called BPH) or infection of the prostate( prostatitis), any blockage in the flow of urine like any scar tissue, injury (as in a car wreck or bad fall), blood clots, infection, tumors in the pelvic region, and stones, infection or due to disruption of the delicate and complex system of nerves that connects the urinary tract with the brain and the nervous system.
Avatar n tn They access your pineal region from beneath the brain, so they do not affect your brain at all. It sounds like a scary procedure but is actually straightforward for a good brain neurosurgeon. The surgeon essentially inserts a microscopic endoscope that magnifies the area by 50x and uses a navigation system to get him there. It is minimally invasive. The medical literature says that most patients whose pineal cysts are not too large (e.g., < 4.

551343 tn?1506830518 Paolo Zamboni took 65 patients with relapsing-remitting MS, performed a simple operation to unblock restricted bloodflow out of the brain - and two years after the surgery, 73% of the patients had no symptoms. Dr. Zamboni's thinking could turn the current understanding of MS on its head, and offer many sufferers a complete cure. Multiple sclerosis, or MS, has long been regarded as a life sentence of debilitating nerve degeneration.

Avatar n tn Prolonged SSRI discontinuation syndrome. In other words, prolonged withdrawal symptoms from antidepressants. From the surviving antidepressants website there is a lot of helpful info and comments from others going through the same thing. Some excerpts.... Why are withdrawal symptoms so varied? Because psychiatric drugs affect your nervous system -- the "operating system" of your body -- withdrawal symptoms can show up almost anywhere.
Avatar m tn So in 4 februar of 2008 year I passed one head-neuro operation in the IRAN. The opearation lasted approx. 30 minute. But after operation I felt my self very perfect. So after 10 monthes thats now (december) Im again disturbed by the same headache. I have to note that during the surgeon operation there was put one apparatus to suck the pile of water from the left hemisphere side over the brain (left side).
Avatar m tn I understand that this cognitive function deterioration is due to the cyst in the parietal region of the brain. Consult your neurosurgeon for analysis of both the cysts including the one in the parietal region and the cerebellum. Depending on the large size and other pressure symptoms like headaches, nausea, blurred vision reflecting increased intracranial pressure, these would require a craniotomy and excision. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn I don't know about the shunt, but I do know that while ANY operation on the brain carries risk of some changes in mental agility, nevertheless from what I understand, cysts are so well-defined by being encapsulated, that the possibility of damaging nearby structures is minimal.
567489 tn?1297250714 MS only involves the central nervous system, which is the brain, brainstem, and the spinal cord. The spinal cord ends at the bottom of the thoracic spine, so the lumbar and sacral spine are part of the peripheral nervous system. Now, that said, you can definitely see problems with already existing sciatica caused by the problems of spasticity and poor core support caused by MS and muscle weakness. My guess would be that the back problem from 6 years ago is separate from the MS.
Avatar f tn Also because the nervous system is really a electro-chemical messaging system it is still electrons at its most elementary basis. In the human brain, abnormal messaging in the form of abnormal brain waves cause the brain to "panic" in the absence of some rational sensing organ such as the eyes, ears, nose, taste, etc. Because the brain operates on electrical fields, it goes into a ort of electrical spasm or spreading depression such as the migraine.
Avatar f tn Do these ppl understand I have fried my brain with Drugs?

Avatar n tn do the mri test with csf flow before deciding to have a shunt or operation just to be sure that you really need an operation. i will take my mri again by november to check if i need an operation because they said i have communicating hydrocephalus but they think its compensated or already there since birth. also have headaches and sometimes i cannot sleep with the severe headaches and dizziness as well.
Avatar m tn Hi, My close relative (uncle - 63 yrs old) had recently undergone collar-bone plate-removal operation, during which time, something happened because of which the supply of oxygen to brain stopped all of a sudden and he became unresponsive and has been in unconscious state since then (more than 3 weeks now). He was in ventilator for 12 days and has been in ICU since then. Rest of the body is functioning in a normal manner.
