Avatar f tn My NS told me it was brain surgery. And also that I could tell everyone it was because my brain was too big for my skull ;) My Neurologist likes to refer to it as "neck surgery," which kind of irritates me. But I think my surgeon trumps him.

Avatar n tn Suboccipital craniotomt with infratentorial-supracerebellar approach and microsurgical resection of pineal cyst. Contrary to what is stated above, this is NOT brain surgery. They access your pineal region from beneath the brain, so they do not affect your brain at all. It sounds like a scary procedure but is actually straightforward for a good brain neurosurgeon.
Avatar m tn He has had brain surgery and not a minor operation at that. His brain is resting , from the narcoses he will need a year to get back to normal. Some people have a harder time coming out of there narcoses than others. Having parkinsons doesn't help matters either. It is a disease that demands a lot of enegy from the brain just to keep awake. Give it time.

Avatar m tn The neurologist told me that it’s probably chemical imbalances of the brain due to the last operation. He prescribed Akamon 1.5 for 3 weeks. At the first week I was fine, on the second week I was feeling again, anxiety and went to see him. That time he prescribed Anafranil 25mg and see a CBT. But I saw that anafranil is an anti-depressant pill so I didn’t take it. I continue to taking Akamon 1.5 until I finished the 3 weeks period he prescribed.
Avatar f tn It normally takes about 6 weeks to start to feel better after an operation. Your stuttering problem should have nothing to do with your operation on your hip. Are you on any medication at the moment for pain relief or any other medications that could slow down your brain? With your leg involuntarily twitching this is likely to be because of nerves that run in the leg.
Avatar f tn Hi there, my nephew, a 5 years old kid, was suffer from brain tumor surgery since a month ago. He is now suffer for Hydrocephalus. He is still in the ICU. Avatar f tn father had a brain bleed on may 6 2009, did surgery removed bleed and right bone flap, does not open eyes on command or any other voice commands. does open eyes sometimes, for VERY short period of time, has very good movement on the right side but no movement on left side. dr. said he had seizuers, they now treat with medication. no seizures are present. will dad "wake up" more as time goes on? or will he stay like that?
Avatar n tn Maybe you were sinking on the operation table or maybe there was massive bleeding or some other issue. Hemiparesis can develop after any brain surgery. It could be due to medical negligence, however, in most cases, it is due to brain injury caused by surgery and this is inevitable. The extent of injury varies with type and site of brain surgery. Hence, this is a debatable issue. Take care!
Avatar f tn After she got out of the operation, she is in a coma for 7 days. We performed MRI on the brain and here is the result https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwDATtoQ2AjzVU82QTdETnBzenM/view?usp=drivesdk We are very confused and worried because we don't understand what happened during such a simple surgery to affect the brain !!!

Avatar n tn Hi Joy Joy, Yes, I had the operation this past April (7 months Sunday). I know it sounds devastatingly scary - the whole concept of brain surgery! - but it'll be fine! My wife and I were discussing recently how we are so blasé about the whole thing now. "Yeah, I had brain surgery. Hasn't everyone?" Okay, hopefully that will help relax you a little, now for the bad side.
