478387 tn?1210762308 He explained to me that the other arteries in the brain can supply the brain with enough blood. I think the operation risk outweighs the gain. I know that it can be a little hard to accept. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn When the artery ruptured in his brain, the blood spread rather than to get clot giving him a major brain hemorrhage. After the stroke, he has right side paralyzed. now opens his eyes but has no cognizance. he has slight left side limbs movement. He has no speech and is fed through a tube in the nose.i want to discuss about therapies to get him better. Please Please help.
1291453 tn?1272143404 Hi my husband had an operation last Tuesday after he had a subdural hematoma a cause of head knock in his door's car since 3 weeks he is a diabetic he spent 3 days at hospital, after we came back from hospital he finds difficulty’s to find the words, when he wakes up every morning he has headache for a while he is on a medication called Epaunutin 100mg every 8h, I wonder for how long he will be back to normal?
Avatar m tn Even then, the final outcome is extremely difficult to assess after the injury and operation. I advise you to find the home page for brain injury support groups. There is tons of information on these pages which will help you understand what your brother may go through while recovering and how it affects family members. Personality changes are quite common following trauma to the brain.
Avatar f tn In your previously posted question (10/14/15) I said that this operation is unusual and recovery is not as fast or predictable as the standard cataract removal insertion of IOL done in an adult. The complication you have is not rare. The white stuff is usuallyy as Soemmering's Ring dislocation see link below. http://bjo.bmj.com/content/35/4/226.full.pdf This is not a minor operation. This will reset the clock to day one again.
Avatar f tn I am 15 and I had a PAO (peri acutabular osteotemy) about almost 4 weeks ago... I have had on and off involuntary movements. Today on my operated leg my foot literally had aggressive involuntary movements.(It did this when i slightly leaned it to the left while i was sitting)Is it probably just nerves? I highly doubt it's anything serious but I did minor-moderate headaches before surgery and have stuttered ( I use to never have a problem reading out loud.

Avatar n tn I have had two abalatons done in 2008 and a electrocardioversion done in 2011 all unsuccessful. Is the recovery time about a month? thanks for your help, I'm a little anxious.
Avatar m tn Hi! I am very concerned about a relative of mine who had a stroke about two months ago. The stroke didn't leave any very serious damage, but nevertheless he had an operation on his heart to insert a device to block the flow of blood from one chamber to another, as he had a PFO or a small hole in the heart. This was done successfully. He also has an anuyerism on his heart in the same area, which I believe gave rise to the stroke initially, as a clot went to his brain.
Avatar m tn I also had two vitrectomy's and will need cataract surgery soon. Your comment scares the crap out of me. What do you mean by "terrible side affects"?. Also, what type of IOL did you end up having? I have not clue what to decide upon, other than I know do not go with a multi-focal lense.
Avatar f tn There may be a complete recovery, or some permanent loss of brain function. Talk to your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn The stroke resulted from narrowing of a carotid artery by more than 70%.,Some brain tissue supplied by the affected artery still functions after the stroke,The person's life expectancy is at least 5 years. In such people, carotid endarterectomy may reduce the risk of subsequent strokes. It also reestablishes the blood supply to the affected area, but it cannot restore lost function because some brain tissue is dead.
Avatar f tn Chances of recovery all depend on surgical skill (experience is really needed here), the tumor itself - what has it wrapped around etc., Surgical recovery is pretty fast - it only takes a few weeks - but hormonal recovery can take years so that depends on the tumor and all. Side effects are purely dependent on if she needs hormonal replacement afterward and getting that balanced. Cost - well, that varies on the hormone. I don't know where you can get financial support.
6443793 tn?1469746195 Just try to keep her on the calm side,NO jumping up on any couches, beds, chairs( or down off of them) for 5 days, also it would be best she did not go up or down steps for this time frame also. IF she wants to race or run around, you may need to put a harness and leash on her, keep her close ( hook the leash to your belt)so she is slowed down or use a crate to allow her to rest, lay down more.IF you have steps to go outside pick her up,carry out,let her potty then carry back inside.
Avatar f tn Found out she has two brain aneurysms and one had ruptured. During the cooling operation she had a stroke, due to Vaso spasm. She is totally Incontenant, she has left side paralysis. Her speech is poor, sometimes when I talk its like she is looking through me. She says strange things a lot and is barely awake. She has an NG tube to feed her. Please tell me it gets better. I'm getting really worried about her left side, it isn't even responding to pain or reflex.
Avatar f tn I followed all instructions regarding positioning. 10 days after the operation, my doctor told me that the hole was closed, the gas bubble is more than halfway down but I am still not able to see clearly. On top of blurry and slightly distorted images I see a small light dark spot , which flashes when I blink. Can you tell me if this isnormal part of recovery, or something else is wrong? I am 57 and otherwise very healthy.
Avatar f tn My down syndrome Sister had a benign tumour removed from the left side of her brain four months ago. she is fifty six years old and the operation was the first she has ever had. Since then she has had shouting bouts which are very disturbing for her and her carers. We cannot understand what is wrong as she cannot communicate her fears. I believe she is having hallucinations, but nobody seems to pin-point her problem We no not know what treatment is best for her. Please can you help.
Avatar n tn I have had two OHS in four years and my chest never popped or crackled after either. Both my surgeries were open sternum.
Avatar f tn Recovery from cataract surgery is from days to a few weeks. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn They access your pineal region from beneath the brain, so they do not affect your brain at all. It sounds like a scary procedure but is actually straightforward for a good brain neurosurgeon. The surgeon essentially inserts a microscopic endoscope that magnifies the area by 50x and uses a navigation system to get him there. It is minimally invasive. The medical literature says that most patients whose pineal cysts are not too large (e.g., < 4.
Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with a brain cyst by my GP, she said that I probably had it since birth. She didn't really do much explaining except that it wasn't anything serious and wasn't the cause of my daily headaches. She had an MRI done on me which came out fine. I was just wondering, I have been getting my headaches back again quite often, and I was wondering if these cysts can grow?
1580703 tn?1651904887 thanks very much my potassium was 15 on the 1st blood test at the ER, AST/ALT 80/250 I had a trach operation and was dizzy/exhausted more than before in life for 1 month after (recovery is 3 days supposed to be). O2 was going down to 89 and I had flank pain for a few minutes can the ER really mess up a potassium blood test like that? the doc just put me on prednisone for asthma. can I do anything to lower my AST/ALT levels?
Avatar n tn s (does not really have the tremors, just hard for her brain to communicate with her muscles causing very hard time walking ...she "freezes" at times. Along with possible Parkinson's Dementia. I remember in the 60's we were involved in a car wreak where mom had a separated left shoulder then later in the early 90's was involved in another car wreak where she had been hit on front left side. They replaced her left hip and she also injured her left shoulder.
Avatar n tn Hey Sorry For the recent results i can fully relate to your pain, I was diagnosed with the same problem but worst mines actually had fluid in them. so my doc recommended having them completely removed and that initial diagnose was three or four years ago and after additional docs recommended the same thing I went ahead and decided to do it since it was my GREATER chance at mommyhood thru IVF because repairing them could lead to etopic preggos.
