Avatar n tn I had a "turp" operation about 1 month ago, due to inability to urinate. Operation went fine. I now have retrograde ejaculation, which my Dr warned me about. Avatar f tn The stroke resulted from narrowing of a carotid artery by more than 70%.,Some brain tissue supplied by the affected artery still functions after the stroke,The person's life expectancy is at least 5 years. In such people, carotid endarterectomy may reduce the risk of subsequent strokes. It also reestablishes the blood supply to the affected area, but it cannot restore lost function because some brain tissue is dead.
Avatar n tn I am one month away from having the 5 Box thoracospic procedure done by Dr. Sirak would you recommend anything that should be done to prepare for the procedure. I have had two abalatons done in 2008 and a electrocardioversion done in 2011 all unsuccessful. Is the recovery time about a month? thanks for your help, I'm a little anxious.
Avatar n tn I could not find anything as symptomatic cysts are just noted to be rare (hmmm) so I could not find what I would say are reliable rates of studies. That being said, I would find a surgeon who does skull-base surgery as they would probably have more experience than others, such as a pituitary surgeon.
Avatar f tn My NS told me it was brain surgery. And also that I could tell everyone it was because my brain was too big for my skull ;) My Neurologist likes to refer to it as "neck surgery," which kind of irritates me. But I think my surgeon trumps him.
Avatar n tn Despite my doctors recommending an operation,I have delayed my cataract operation for 3 years. Will the delay cause irreversible and serious damage? What is the best current procedure available -- cost is not an issue.
Avatar n tn My father acted like the way your uncle is and he had a shunt placed in his brain because he had excess spinal fluid. He would talk about things that made no sense and would shuffle his feet. We thought he had alzeihmer disease but it wasn't.
Avatar f tn generally as long as there are no problems during the operation there shouldnt be any risk to the fetus, especially as it is brain surgery. abdominal surgery would pose a greater risk as it would be closer to the uterus but even then the risk isnt high at all.
Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with a brain cyst by my GP, she said that I probably had it since birth. She didn't really do much explaining except that it wasn't anything serious and wasn't the cause of my daily headaches. She had an MRI done on me which came out fine. I was just wondering, I have been getting my headaches back again quite often, and I was wondering if these cysts can grow?

Avatar m tn Six months ago I had an operation for prostate cancer. After six months I still had a severe incontinence and decided to implement a so called Male Sling. This surgery was performed some three weeks ago and the problem with incontinence seems to be solved. I am not using any pads and urinating is close to normal. But I have terrible problem with pain in the tip of the penis and the skin of the scrotum. Other pain from the operation has gradually disappeared.
Avatar m tn i went in for my planned pressure wire study to the right coronary artery +/- PCI to LAD. I am clearly symptomatic with angina that limits my daily activities, mainly during cold weather. My Doctor has said, 'prior to any intervention procedure, i elected to repeat his coronary angiography in order to assess his previously deployed stent. the stent was patent with only a mild disease in the mid and distal left anterior artery. However my LAD has now become occluded.
Avatar n tn Prior to the operation the doctor told me of the risks. having a stroke during the procedure, not enough oxygen getting to the brain because of the blood not getting there and nerve damage, in fact they have a couple of specialists who just monitor the nerves and blood flow. I did not have a stroke during the procedure, but there was nerve damage.
Avatar n tn I am going to have my disc removed, I can not sit for a long period of time, and job consits of sitting. I am hoping after the disc is removed I can go back to work. The pain comes and goes, but without my medicine it gets worse.(tramadol). I don't want to do the operation, but the older I get the worse it will get, I might as well do it now, while I am still a somewhat young age. Should I be worried about the operation??
Avatar n tn Well he is quite a guy. Talk to his office if you're unable to come up with the money. wow. You would think the insurance would be enough but I know they have an allowed rate per procedure and the doc probably wouldn't get much if any. I just got my surgeon bill through my insurance and he only charged 1560.00 for the procedure itself. So that's probably why they want the money now. Hope this helps. Had my TT on 2/29. Bills are rolling in every day.
Avatar f tn I will need to be put out for this procedure. I am on about 80 mg of methadone a day. Being on this, wilI have any complications for the surgery? I know that when I am taking methadone, it does not let me feel any other drugs, well at least not all of it. Will this complicate the procedure? Will I be ok when I take the anesthesia?

Avatar f tn All pacemakers need to be replaced eventually because the battery runs down, and it's a safe and normally a routine procedure. The existing leads will be attached to the new pacemaker. It's possible an additional lead will be inserted. I'm sure your husband doesn't look forward to having the procedure again!
