Common Questions and Answers about Blood water volume

blood

Avatar f tn Remember that your blood volume doubles so you need a lot more fluids than usual to keep from getting lightheaded and dehydrated. Crystal light is okay but I'd ask your Dr. Mine told me to try to avoid artificial sweeteners, which crystal light is loaded with.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure about amounts. Over time, I've grown very aware of my hydration level (it even shows up on the scale by 5+ lbs within a day as water is the quickest way your weight will vary). I can tell by "feel" how hydrated I am and the goal is to keep decent and steady hydration level (especially since the "active" stuff in the blood isn't water itself... but other things that take days to build up).
Avatar f tn Hi just a question, will water affect the blood volume and make testing inaccurate? Lately I've been drinking alot of water. Because in 3 months, if I wanna test I want to know any factors that may influence the test. Thank you.
Tbd Being dehydrated would make you have less blood (reduced circulatory volume). That would tend toward reduced blood pressure and might even make you feel dizzy when first standing up.
Avatar n tn The increase in heart rate could be your body responding to a perception of decreased blood pressure/intravascular fluid volume (decreased fluid in your blood stream). Working with your physician to adjust medications or dosage may lead to alleviating this issue. Use of a low salt diet can also be helpful. Use of gentamicin injection into the middle ear can be helpful for patients refractory to other therapy.

No, not possible. What has diuretics have to do with water? Diuretics are drugs. Last I heard water is not a drug.
Avatar m tn There is no such thing as "water around the heart". The blood vessels are like pipes in a plumbing system. The heart is the pump that makes the water circulate through the pipes. When there is too much pressure within the pipes (too much fluid), it puts a strain on the pump (the heart). Long term pressure on the pump causes the pump to enlarge. The so-called "water pills" cause the excess fluid to be urinated away, thereby reducing the strain on the heart.
Avatar f tn 1.Ingesting more water than you need can increase your total blood volume. And since your blood volume exists within a closed system - your blood circulatory system - needlessly increasing your blood volume on a regular basis puts unnecessary burden on your heart and blood vessels. http://www.drbenkim.com/drink-too-much-water-dangerous.
Avatar f tn Your body is made up of 80% of water and from the beginning of pregnancy to 34 weeks blood volume will increase by almost 50%. 1 in 5 women actually drink enough water a day. This is my third pregnancy and I have always drank a gallon of water a day and I have yet to see a stretch mark.
Avatar m tn With Billions to be made, there would indeed be a war of misinformation between bottled, tap, filtered and distilled water. If you have anything solid knowledge of distilled water, then read my post that is on this page below. I would be very keen to hear anyone with solid knowledge about drinking distilled water. http://www.procyclingwomen.com/Distiller/Debate.

Avatar f tn A physician evaluates the concentration of urine by measuring how many particles are in a kilogram of water or by comparing the weight of the urine with an equal volume of distilled water. A fluid deprivation test helps determine whether DI is caused by one of the following: • excessive intake of fluid • a defect in ADH production • a defect in the kidneys’ response to ADH This test measures changes in body weight, urine output, and urine composition when fluids are withheld.
8594632 tn?1410187293 Dehydration can cause low blood pressure, and in general due to the increased blood volume, you can have low BP during pregnancy. Definitely drinking more fluids and resting with your feet elevated will help. Make sure to change position slowly to allow your body time to adjust.
140033 tn?1189759435 Before the age of 4-6 weeks they have such little blood volume that by adding water you could easily throw off their electrolyte balance. Not to mention filling a baby up with water when they really should be eating breastmilk or formula. I strongly advise against it, again.
Avatar f tn If your legs are swollen the fluid could be there instead of in your blood volume. If there are no restrictions, it's always a good idea to drink plenty of water when you are having a blood draw.
Avatar f tn It helps keep the amount of fluid inside and outside of your cells in balance. It also helps maintain proper blood volume, blood pressure, and pH of your body fluids." http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/chloride-cl If your level was only one number off, your doctor may not have thought the deficiency to be significant to warrant further investigation.
Avatar n tn Whey protein will provide you will all the necessary amino acids, some of which work to create nitric oxide and other substances. You will notice healthier orgasms and probably increased volume. Water -- you've already got this one down. Keep it up. Avatar n tn 51 I am a male, 38 yrs old, not overweight and fit. My problem started about 3 yrs ago when my semen volume started to decrease. At the moment it is just a few drops (0.3ml) I went to a urologist and he send me to a radiologist who check my prostate and also check for blocked seminal vesicles. No problem was found. A blood sample shows also everything OK. My testosterone level is right. My problem is not consistant. The viscosity of my semen will vary from day to day.

Avatar f tn Your body is not only flushing out your own waste but baby's waste as well. Your blood volume has increased by as much as 30-50%. Being thirsty is normal...just try to drink as much as you can.
Avatar m tn being well hydrated also keeps your blood volume at a normal level and your blood pressure normal, low blood pressure from being dehydrated can make you feel weak. your kidneys regulate how much water you excrete in the form of pee, the more you drink, the more you pee, the more toxins you flush out.
Avatar n tn My question is, should I expect to have heart palpitations for the rest of the pregnancy b/c of the increase of blood volume? Also, I have noticed that drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day helps a great deal with these palpitations. I also can "hear" and feel my heart pounding in my head when I go from a sitting or lying to a standing position, this just started since I've been pregnant. What does this mean? ANy info will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I know that at that age though they are still concerned with the blood volume on a little one and try to avoid giving babies that young and small just water, it can really mess with them and also upset the electrolyte balance. Even when my little one was really sick and dehydrated they had me only give a few teaspoons of pedialyte or even water for concern of this. I think you did the best you could in a pinch and they should have told you to call if you needed more milk, don't feel bad.

Avatar f tn The main constituent of blood is water, it makes up most of the plasma. Your body balances your blood volume by adding fluids into the blood stream and this makes it easier for the body to keep pressure normal. If you reduce fluid levels in your body too much, then your pressure will gradually drop as you dehydrate.
Avatar f tn As a result, the volume of fluid contained by the blood stream is increased. Which in turn increases blood pressure!
Avatar m tn I then thought about the fresh cut that was on my hand. Could the water system at the facility contain hepatitus or hiv? If so, could I have gotten hepatitus or hiv from getting toilet water in my cut? Can hepatitus or hiv live in toilet water?
