I'm afraid to eat !! instead of wheat bread the say white :( it is 25 mg of Phos. Barley 1/2 cup 40mg piece of salmon 279mg. a apple 15mg. this is just a example It is in everything we eat ! we drink ! I have a list of what is bad and what is better for me..but the better for me is in very small portions..

What is important is what type of foods you eat that make-up that calorie intake. Eating healthy is eating a lot of fruits and vegetables.
Avatar n tn hello my father who is 78 and in real good physical condition is suffering from dizzy spells. He is a type II diabetic who normally eats pretty good and takes a pill once a day. He doesn't test his blood and won't seem to do so. He walks a few miles every day and is an avid golfer. What happened was they went on a 3 day holiday and the weather was extremely hot. Also mom said dad didn't eat so well for the 3 day they were gone.

Avatar f tn Hi. That's all good as far as Tina's diet and meds are concerned. You are on the right track.The drop in bloodwork numbers is reassuring. The ideal plan is to keep working on them to get them within or as close to within normal limits as possible, even if they only dip into the high end of normal range. Over time, it's vital to maintain fluids (read my article about tap water, which isn't ideal), and add a few supplements along the way to help things along.
Avatar n tn not saying at all that you shouldnt do that. my doc said with some fat and if nothing else make sure you eat Something. I have had a very hard time eating 20 g of fat 3 times a day. Lots of days I just dont feel Like I could eat anything when It is time to take the meds. I just do the best I can in a yucky situation. I do find my self justifying eating at Micky D's a little more. I have found that I am getting weird cravings. Big Macs, steaks, italian dressing, club soda, avacados.

Avatar n tn afterward the vet offered a prescription diet that is relatively low in protein. the first several ingredients are grain products and pork fat. it is extremely expensive. i am less worried about the cost than i am about the low protein. dogs are carnivores, they need protein. now that toby's stone is gone, we willl be more active than ever, and he willl need even more protein. i read somewhere that malamutes in their native alaskan habitat eat a lot of fish.
Avatar f tn in fact, i will soon not even be taking thyroid meds and managing the disease by diet. Get a T3 blood test. Get tested for gluten intolerence. Do some research on Hashimoto and you will find this is nothing like any other type of thyroid disease. it is more of an auto immune disease. Hope this helps. Believe it or not Hashimoto is the most misdiagnosed thyroid disease and MOST medical doctors (even your endocrenoligist may not know how to properly deal with this disease.
Avatar f tn A huge thing to avoid for all of here, since nearly everyone has digestive issues, is the elimination of all pork from the diet. I discovered this to be so after eliminating all the cured pork products and using only fresh cuts that have no seasonings in them. I still felt really sick afterwards. I once took some leftover meat from a gathering where there was a lot of leftover beef and pork. But, the host wasn't sure which was which. I was sure after I mistakenly got some of the pork.

A moderate fat diet needs to be the base diet which helps your diabetes, heart, GERD, hypertension, liver, and some kidney issues. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.

I make a large batch once a month and fill pint sealers than freeze, unthawing one at a time. the initial investment of all the supplements costs a bit, but they go a long way.

Avatar f tn Nuts and seeds are good sources of fat (and we need fat) plus protein and some fiber. I follow this type of diet and my weight is low and my blood work is great. Soy was the first thing to get out of my diet because it is mildly estrogenic and makes me feel just swful. plus its one of the most genetically modified plants and is heavily pesticided and has to be intensely processed to make the soy beans edible. As a horticulturist, what I learned about soy scared the beejezus out of me.

If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.I. some time in the begining of next month but with most of the doctors we see they do not care to look further into this and just listen to his symptoms and give him whatever and send him on his way.

The 2nd thru 5th meds took anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to rear its ugly head and make me have similar reactions that if left untreated would have put me back in the e/r. I am a very highly stressed individual! Hence, the high BP. I run about 140/90 but, I am watching my BP now since off meds for that during allergy testing. I'm about 150/92 in the morning which is usually a higher reading time...

They also tried to control my Crohn's with a stronger steroid, antibiotics, the works. Nothing was helping, and since I was scheduled to be getting my first dose of Remicade in a few days, they decided to give it to me in the hospital.
Avatar n tn It worked good for me. As far as diet I started with the Swank diet but think the Paleo Diet has shown more success in threating neurological diseases. As far as the dental thing I had 10 root canals and an assortment of fillings. My gums were bleeding and that was clearly a problem in my case. Everyone must decide this issue for theirself because this is a major decision. I have some information concerning this issue that I will post.

Avatar n tn For the past several years I have noticed that after eating food (which ranges from just a cup of milk to a full meal) that my heart rate and blood pressure increases significantly about 30 minutes after eating, and it lasts for about one and 1/2 hours to two hours. This occurs about 50% of the time after eating. My heart rate goes from ~75 bpm up to 140 bmp (max todate), and the blood pressure goes from 130/80 up to 180/102 (max to date).
Avatar m tn Hi, and sorry you have a moderately high blood sugar, and triglycerides. These things can definitely be controlled by diet and exercise (provided the blood sugar problem is not genetic. Drinking alcohol and not exercising will raise your triglycerides. Also eating junk food and a lot of sugary foods can raise your blood sugar too. You sound like you are normally vegetarian? or eat better? Are your blood sugar values and triglycerides usually normal? If so get back on your normal diet.

Every time I go to the Dr's office, they always comment on how high my pulse and blood pressure are (last week when I went it was 127/92 and pulse of 133!) Ha...and those numbers arent even unusual for me! I know the pulse is high, but I don't worry about it as much just because I take it frequently at home now, and know that it is usually in the 80's when I'm at home. But the blood pressure...ugh!

So pretty much all animal products and grains. We haven't even gotten to fruits, veggies, nuts, or legumes yet. That's next week. Keep in mind that I stopped eating wheat, gluten, dairy, corn and sugar over 5 months ago. And I still reacted!

Cutting out soy would only be useful if you're allergic to it. As for alleviating pain, there are a host of anti-inflammatory remedies.
