Avatar n tn Your clothes will also be a tell tale sign as you become trimmer. You did not state what type of food you were eating, just the amount of calories 1200-1500 calories per day. What is important is what type of foods you eat that make-up that calorie intake. Eating healthy is eating a lot of fruits and vegetables.
Avatar n tn hello my father who is 78 and in real good physical condition is suffering from dizzy spells. He is a type II diabetic who normally eats pretty good and takes a pill once a day. He doesn't test his blood and won't seem to do so. He walks a few miles every day and is an avid golfer. What happened was they went on a 3 day holiday and the weather was extremely hot. Also mom said dad didn't eat so well for the 3 day they were gone.
776980 tn?1252248190 I have had severe PVC's for several months now and I am wondering if it could be my diet? Like most of us I assume we are all searching for answers and I keep thinking it could be as simple as a chemical imbalance caused by my diet. I have been pretty much of a vegetarian for many years, not in the strictness since, but we don't cook meet and since I retired 2 years ago I eat almost no meat at all. I do eat all my Veggies!
Avatar f tn Hi. That's all good as far as Tina's diet and meds are concerned. You are on the right track. The drop in bloodwork numbers is reassuring. The ideal plan is to keep working on them to get them within or as close to within normal limits as possible, even if they only dip into the high end of normal range. Over time, it's vital to maintain fluids (read my article about tap water, which isn't ideal), and add a few supplements along the way to help things along.
Avatar n tn not saying at all that you shouldnt do that. my doc said with some fat and if nothing else make sure you eat Something. I have had a very hard time eating 20 g of fat 3 times a day. Lots of days I just dont feel Like I could eat anything when It is time to take the meds. I just do the best I can in a yucky situation. I do find my self justifying eating at Micky D's a little more. I have found that I am getting weird cravings. Big Macs, steaks, italian dressing, club soda, avacados.
897070 tn?1320656229 After my recent diagnosis of cirrhosis and steatosis I am really seriously considering changing my diet with the intention of lightening the load on my liver. It would be good to be able to lower my inflamation a little. I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has changed to say vegetarian and if so whether they have seen any signs of improvement.
Avatar n tn afterward the vet offered a prescription diet that is relatively low in protein. the first several ingredients are grain products and pork fat. it is extremely expensive. i am less worried about the cost than i am about the low protein. dogs are carnivores, they need protein. now that toby's stone is gone, we willl be more active than ever, and he willl need even more protein. i read somewhere that malamutes in their native alaskan habitat eat a lot of fish.
Avatar f tn in fact, i will soon not even be taking thyroid meds and managing the disease by diet. Get a T3 blood test. Get tested for gluten intolerence. Do some research on Hashimoto and you will find this is nothing like any other type of thyroid disease. it is more of an auto immune disease. Hope this helps. Believe it or not Hashimoto is the most misdiagnosed thyroid disease and MOST medical doctors (even your endocrenoligist may not know how to properly deal with this disease.
Avatar f tn A huge thing to avoid for all of here, since nearly everyone has digestive issues, is the elimination of all pork from the diet. I discovered this to be so after eliminating all the cured pork products and using only fresh cuts that have no seasonings in them. I still felt really sick afterwards. I once took some leftover meat from a gathering where there was a lot of leftover beef and pork. But, the host wasn't sure which was which. I was sure after I mistakenly got some of the pork.
Avatar n tn I've been having troubles lately before I knew my blood sugar was high, after I would eat I would feel very bad, not knowing I had high blood sugar I was leading a normal diet, even some fast food here and there, I'm sure my blood sugar has been very very high until I started dieting now. Are those numbers normal or should I be worried?
Avatar f tn weight loss and increased physical activity is directly related to improved diabetes control. To help Americans fight the dramatic increase in type 2 diabetes, Joslin Diabetes Center has crafted new nutrition and physical activity guidelines for overweight and obese individuals with type 2 diabetes and those at risk for developing diabetes (pre-diabetes).
Avatar f tn the simplest way to help these issues and follow diets for them is the combine the diets. A moderate fat diet needs to be the base diet which helps your diabetes, heart, GERD, hypertension, liver, and some kidney issues. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
1232362 tn?1333139006 He has now been eating the cooked pork diet for nearly a year and has had 2 urinalysis's that both came up with NO sign of it was well worth it. the food is a much higher quality no grains, no meat by products, no fillers nor preservatives and cheaper than buying cans. I make a large batch once a month and fill pint sealers than freeze, unthawing one at a time. the initial investment of all the supplements costs a bit, but they go a long way.
Avatar m tn The last blood draw, the blood looked like a purplish bloody marry. Any ideas as to why the blood discoloration and high ammonia. I'm also on my own low sodium/low protein diet. Thanks for your consideration in this matter.
Avatar f tn Nuts and seeds are good sources of fat (and we need fat) plus protein and some fiber. I follow this type of diet and my weight is low and my blood work is great. Soy was the first thing to get out of my diet because it is mildly estrogenic and makes me feel just swful. plus its one of the most genetically modified plants and is heavily pesticided and has to be intensely processed to make the soy beans edible. As a horticulturist, what I learned about soy scared the beejezus out of me.
Avatar f tn I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.I. some time in the begining of next month but with most of the doctors we see they do not care to look further into this and just listen to his symptoms and give him whatever and send him on his way.
179332 tn?1273250959 I was put on prednisone for 6 days after I went into shock from the first med. The 2nd thru 5th meds took anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to rear its ugly head and make me have similar reactions that if left untreated would have put me back in the e/r. I am a very highly stressed individual! Hence, the high BP. I run about 140/90 but, I am watching my BP now since off meds for that during allergy testing. I'm about 150/92 in the morning which is usually a higher reading time...
1451080 tn?1438531260 I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and have started a low carb diet. As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
Avatar f tn They admitted me and over the course of the week ended up needing to give me a blood transfusion since I had been bleeding daily for a month with every bowel movement. They also tried to control my Crohn's with a stronger steroid, antibiotics, the works. Nothing was helping, and since I was scheduled to be getting my first dose of Remicade in a few days, they decided to give it to me in the hospital.
Avatar n tn It worked good for me. As far as diet I started with the Swank diet but think the Paleo Diet has shown more success in threating neurological diseases. As far as the dental thing I had 10 root canals and an assortment of fillings. My gums were bleeding and that was clearly a problem in my case. Everyone must decide this issue for theirself because this is a major decision. I have some information concerning this issue that I will post.
1047234 tn?1253547296 I do have FM but not this blood type. I've never heard of this type. What is it? why do you think there is a link?
Avatar n tn For the past several years I have noticed that after eating food (which ranges from just a cup of milk to a full meal) that my heart rate and blood pressure increases significantly about 30 minutes after eating, and it lasts for about one and 1/2 hours to two hours. This occurs about 50% of the time after eating. My heart rate goes from ~75 bpm up to 140 bmp (max todate), and the blood pressure goes from 130/80 up to 180/102 (max to date).
Avatar m tn Hi, and sorry you have a moderately high blood sugar, and triglycerides. These things can definitely be controlled by diet and exercise (provided the blood sugar problem is not genetic. Drinking alcohol and not exercising will raise your triglycerides. Also eating junk food and a lot of sugary foods can raise your blood sugar too. You sound like you are normally vegetarian? or eat better? Are your blood sugar values and triglycerides usually normal? If so get back on your normal diet.
446896 tn?1237806342 I know I am not the only one who absolutely freaks out when having my blood pressure taken. Every time I go to the Dr's office, they always comment on how high my pulse and blood pressure are (last week when I went it was 127/92 and pulse of 133!) Ha...and those numbers arent even unusual for me! I know the pulse is high, but I don't worry about it as much just because I take it frequently at home now, and know that it is usually in the 80's when I'm at home. But the blood pressure...ugh!
3060903 tn?1398568723 I'm reversing my diabetes type II with diet and exercise. I'm doing well but I need to know one thing about good fat versus bad fat. I take it that ie. walnuts olives etc. have good fat and ie. cream vegetable oil have bad fat. What exactly does the good versus bad fat affect on your blood work? ie. will good fat raise lower or raise tryglycerides? Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn Research has indicated that high cholesterol of the 'bad' cholesterol type can lead to heart disease, blood vessel blockage, and stroke, which may lower your longevity. We have 'good' cholesterol (HDL) in our body and 'bad' cholesterol (LDL & VLDL). You can high HDL cholesterol levels and be in very good health because HDL attaches itself to LDL & VLDL cholesterols and bring them back to the liver to get broken down. HDL helps the body rid itself of the 'bad' cholesterol.
627818 tn?1271780626 In December 2008, my nurse practitioner (NP) asked if I would be be willing to try a diet to help control inflammatory disease, of which I have MS, arthritis and asthma. I told her I would give it a go. Evidently, some foods contain components that irritate the digestive tract, allowing these components to slip into the blood stream. The immune system thinks they are invaders and goes ballistic, hence the autoimmune response. Arachidonic Acid is a fat associated with inflammation in the body.
201897 tn?1245845934 I reacted to everything I eat or have eaten on a regular basis! Beef, pork, chicken, eggs, dairy, wheat, gluten, rice, corn, oats, brewer's yeast, soy, and sugar. So pretty much all animal products and grains. We haven't even gotten to fruits, veggies, nuts, or legumes yet. That's next week. Keep in mind that I stopped eating wheat, gluten, dairy, corn and sugar over 5 months ago. And I still reacted!
Avatar f tn Some find relief in vegetarian diets, whereas others find relief in animal diets depending on what animals they're eating and their cultural background and even perhaps blood type. Cutting out soy would only be useful if you're allergic to it. As for alleviating pain, there are a host of anti-inflammatory remedies.
