1680047 tn?1468911829 The values mentioned in the first response are 'upper cut off limits' and hence normal values correspond to 'less than' these values. Lower values upto 3.3-3.9 mmol/ 60-70 mg/dl would not warrant an evaluation. Though technically 'fasting blood sugar levels' may be 'slightly' lower in children, using these minor differences have not been found to be of value in establishing a diagnostic criteria for DM.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
1211508 tn?1343079605 I would just watch the refined carbs, white sugar, etc. These will spike blood sugar and Trigycerides. Beer does the same thing. Stick with the plant based foods and whole grains. They get the job done.
Avatar m tn s thyroid and blood sugar is totally inadequate. Even at 350-400 her blood sugar is WAY too high.

Avatar n tn Hi, Truely normal blood sugar in adults will be close to 83 and will not vary much at all from this point, and definitely under 100 nearly all the time. In children it may be a bit lower, but probably not lower than 70. Fasting levels 99 - 125 are considered prediabetic Fasting levels > 126 are considered diabetic. 2 hours after eating numbers should not be above 120, and numbers above 140 will be considered diabetic.
Avatar n tn The thing about the 1h test is your system is bombarded with an abnormally large amount of sugar in a short time and the blood test will measure your response to it - this is quite different from measuring your levels throughout the day which may be more "normal" because your sugar intake could have been at a relatively low level. In essence, testing your levels throughout the day is not necessarily a good indicator of whether you have GD or not.
Avatar m tn even complex carbs raise blood sugar (BG) so watch them too. what drugs are you on? what is your BG... before you eat, 1 hour after, before your walk, during, after.
Avatar m tn First when your blood sugar rises too high, causing your pancreas to release a large amount of insulin that drops your blood sugar too low, and second, a slow drop in blood sugar caused by your liver running out of stored sugar. Doctors used to think that insulin-induced hypoglycemia follows meals and that your liver running out of sugar doesn't follow meals, but they now know that both types can occur any time.
Avatar m tn I had went to the emergency last week because of some other symptoms that I have been having. They did a blood work up and my blood sugar level was at a 57. I hadn't eaten anything all day and by the time they had released me I had taken a couple of sips of my daughters sprite and it went up to 98. So the said I was fine. Since then I have been very worried about this so I decided to get myself a meter so that I could test myself.
Avatar m tn No, your blood sugars aren't bad, though if the fasting gets much higher you might want to see if the doctor can increase or change your meds. There are some countries that use a different measurement for blood sugar - if you see small numbers for blood sugar just multiply to get your numbers. I'm in the U.S. and we use the same as you do. Yes, there are some great resources on the net. I'm not allowed to put them here, so I'll send you a PM.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor but I have not heard of afib described that way and atrial contractions are not a danger where afib could be due to possible blood clots. Does your daughter have an unusually high heart rate keeping in mind children's heart rates tend to be more elevated than adults. An average heart rate for a baby in their first year can be anywhere between 100-160 from what I have read. Anyways, I agree with the previous poster.
Avatar f tn Those foods that have high GI values tend to release large amounts of glucose in the blood stream more quickly as compared to those that have low GI values. As a result, the foods with high GI values cause your glucose to rise much faster than the foods low on the GI. Also, eat fruits with other foods to slow the absorption of fructose, fruit sugar.
215816 tn?1212490407 s called a three hour test where they keep making you drink the sugar drink and taking your blood every 45 minutes, to see how your blood sugar elevates when ingesting sugar and how your body deals with it. I have never has that test because they can't make type 1 drink that sugar. But before I became a diabetic and i was preg.
1196453 tn?1325732385 I just received my Hematology and Urinalysis. All is well, until I noticed that my Segmenters and Lymphocytes is not with the normal values. Protein - neg.
979080 tn?1323433639 If I were to check my blood sugar of course I would need to fast. How often do you check glucose ?
Avatar f tn Testing now and then after a meal can also guide you to choose food that has least impact on blood sugar. If you can keep your sugar in the 70 - 100 range all the time you are going to stay healthy and no risk of diabetes at all. The best way to stay healthy is to prevent problems. We do this with diet (unprocessed natural foods; not man-made processed foods). eat in moderation. be happy!
Avatar f tn I'm not sure the blood values you mention are related to your breast cancer or it's treatment. These things may be due to another medical issue and perhaps need the attention of an Internist or your family Dr. I'm sure your Oncologist will make the proper recommendation. Regards ....
956931 tn?1271636169 Keep in mind that things like white bread, most pasta, potatoes, things like that tend to elevate blood sugar quickly. In place of those, consider whole grains and sweet potatoes/yams. And of course, sugar and hidden sugar/corns syrups etc. Fasting sugar should be 125 mg/dL. Non of these values mean much with one test, but if repeated tests show problems, it’s time to address this. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2003; it’s not something you want to deal with if it can be avoided.
Avatar f tn t be eaten in abundance anyway, as they are both very high on the sugar metabolism scale and in the nightshade family, which can cause inflammation. Most of us do eat a lot of bananas, though, which are high in potassium.
Avatar f tn His last hiv test was a oraquick which was negative in December 2014 . After I checked his blood sugar values and was about to dispose of the lancet that this lancet pricked my finger. There was no bleeding immediately and I had to milk my finger to let it bleed and wash it off at least 2 to 3 times. I am paranoid now about my exposure risk considering my brothers sexual history. What are my risk with a lancet prick should I start pep.
1033523 tn?1258035082 My blood sugar has always come back normal, but now that I have this am I going to have to test daily or is this something that depends on your results? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this is all new to me. So I have some learning to do.
Avatar m tn Normally a rise before a fall is expected with the readings, though the blood sugar levels can be altered due to stress/ anxiety, severe hypoglycemia, medications etc. I would suggest discussing the test results in detail with your treating endocrinologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
