At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.

For anyone that finds this in their searches, it turns out that I actually have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Autonomic testing showed a drop in blood pressure after eating which cause these symptoms!

Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. This doesn't make sense. If you have low blood sugar, you are a diabetic - hypoglycemic. Did you ask your doctor why he/she feels you have low glucose when your tests say otherwise? For a doctor to come to such a conclusion there must be something going on that's not being disclosed . Call him/her if for clarification.

Is it possible to have diabetes without having high blood sugar? I've never had a glucose level over 90 on any blood test. I've had to have labs done several times throughout the last couple of years. It's usually 70-80. Once 90. Never anything else. I have to go in tomorrow for testing because my urine has had a strange odor. I don't want to say it's sweet but it's kinda similar. I've never been overweight and have never had a recorded high glucose level.

30 am, this would indicate that your insulin dose was too large for the foods that you ate. Perhaps the amount of carbs in the food was less than you expected, and thus the amount of insulin injected was too much. Have you tried basal and bolus testing to determine your ideal rate?

Hi, For everyone without diabetes, regardless of what you drank or ate, your blood sugars should stay within a normal limit. The idea that sugary foods and drinks will raise your blood sugars above normal(in people without diabetes or other glucose abnormalities) is false, so it should not matter what your daughter ate or drank before you tested.The only thing to know is: was it fasting or sometime after eating or drinking something.

i have 3 children with celiac disease. we got in on a celiac study done through the university of california,irvine. we now know that my husband and i and 8 of my 9 children all are DQ2 positive. i don't know why the disease activated in only 3 of my children and no one else---at least not yet. my celiac children are all girls--identical twins that just turned 20 and a 16 year old. they were all diagnosed at the same time 5 1/2 years ago.
