Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar testing blind

blood-sugar

Avatar f tn Whenever I get low blood sugar, usually at night, I get a bright spot that varies in size from small to large in my field of vision - the lower the sugar, the bigger the spot. It is usually a yellow-green glow that goes away as my blood sugar increases with treatment. I don't get blurry vision, as listed in almost all symptom lists, but a bright blind spot. I haven't had an occular migraine or classical migraine with aura in at least 5 years. Why do I get this bright blind spot?
Dude Without a meter, you're flying blind. You have no idea where you are, where you were, or where you want to be.
Avatar m tn I am 43yrs old man. Today I have done my blood sugar test by a testing machine after 3 hrs of eating. The result is 112 ml/dl . Is this result is normal ? Is this time 3 hrs wrong ? I am waiting for your valuable reply.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
Avatar f tn At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.
Avatar f tn Hi. My 20-year-old college attending son checks his blood sugar very infrequently, even going so far as to not check for 4 days while he was a camp counselor this summer. At most, he checked 1 time per day even following a BG over 450. His uncle died at 43 of complications of diabetes. He was blind, had kidney failure with a kidney transplant that failed after 9 years.
Avatar m tn the past week or so she has felt really sick and finally i convinced her to go in to the ER nex thing we know her blood sugar was like 1300 and she s type 1 diabetic which diabetes seems to run in her family... shes home now and were having a hard time figuring everything out... every time we check her blood sugar she is around 280 to 400 somethin..... isnt her target way lower than that??
Avatar f tn Do your Dad or your cousin have blood sugar meter at home. Maybe you can do some home testing borrowing their meter. normal fasting blood sugar is typically in the range of 70 - 90. Normal 2 hours after eating is < 120 (or at worst < 140). Please see if you can at least get some home testing done so you can see if you really have a problem. I understand Wallmart sells cheap home glucose monitors and test strips (I am not in states).
Avatar f tn For anyone that finds this in their searches, it turns out that I actually have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Autonomic testing showed a drop in blood pressure after eating which cause these symptoms!
Avatar f tn Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. I'm type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.
Avatar m tn Exercise, especially in hot weather causes your veins to be more prominent as your body is increasing blood flow to the skin for cooling. Your post did not included what you were doing "from time to time" making it difficult to ***** your problem. Also, I did not see the results of a medical exam which precludes any unknown/unseen analysis. If they are varicose veins there are simple treatments available.

304573 tn?1345577338 How are you arriving at this conclusion? Are you home testing your blood glucose, or is this random or fasting lab testing results? How long have you been tracking this?
Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
1773108 tn?1314158067 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+.
Avatar n tn What symptoms has the vet mentioned to you? Is your cat hypoglysemic? hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), hypertension (high blood pressure), seizure activity, heart problems are all symptoms of stroke in cats.
Avatar n tn How can your blood sugar be 255 at bedtime and fall to 40 at 5:30 am?
Avatar f tn But I am very concerned and seeking some insight. Lately, I have been eating super healthy and all organic. I have been staying away from sugar, and I have been losing weight. However, tonight I ate cereal for dinner (so unhealthy, I know). After, I ate it I felt really weird and I ended up falling asleep. 2 hours later I woke up, and I couldn't see a thing! I felt like I was blind. I have never experienced such a thing. It really started to scare me and I started to cry.
640347 tn?1228533326 I am supposed to take my insulin shots 3 to 4 times a day depending on my blood sugar. Please, monitor your blood sugar and take care of yourself so your prediabetes does not get any worse. When yor blood sugar was 150 had you had anything to eat because anything you eat can effect your sugar.
Avatar n tn You're right, your doctor a bit premature and in need of diabetes education/training. Within 1 hour after eating your glucose [blood sugar] is still rising. Saying you're high 20 mins after eating is a false/positive and meaningless jibber jabber. The 2-3 hour postprandial test is to see if your body has produced the right amounts of insulin to return your glucose back to normal levels. This is the normal PP time period, not 20 mins.
325405 tn?1262290178 Haven't yet been in to see an endocrinologist or a dietary person to talk blood sugar levels and diet. Am having problems dealing with my insurance company who won't even cover my stupid testing strips. They basically are $1 a strip. Expensive. I had gestational diabetes several years ago (gestational diabetes was covered 100% for supplies and visits), so I am aware of how to do all the blood testing and have been doign fine about that.
Avatar m tn can anyone tell me how cinnamon helps to reduce blood sugar and what are the other benefits of cinnamon?
