304573 tn?1345577338 How are you arriving at this conclusion? Are you home testing your blood glucose, or is this random or fasting lab testing results? How long have you been tracking this?
Avatar n tn ve done finger/arm tests throughout the day and have not had anything remotely abnormal. I had a fasting blood sugar level of 93 first thing in the AM and all my levels after eating were 135 or below. Could the 191 have been error? Should I request to have the one hour test repeated first before I torture myself with the three hour test? Or should I just suck it up and do the test.
1058898 tn?1275675151 oh and when i tested at 2 hr it when to 138 from 197 1 hr before
Avatar m tn Hi, could be that the home meter was not so accurate. or could be that your blood sugar went up (it is possible), while you were waiting to go to the lab. Some people's blood sugar rises in response to extended fasting, particularly in the mornings. Suggest you get an hab1c done. This will give you your average blood sugar over the past 3 months. Ideally the result is < 5.0. If it is higher than 5.0 then you need to start watching your diet etc. If it is over about 5.7 - 6.
Avatar f tn 225 was high so in morning i went to lab with gluco meter and they picked blood from vein and tested on gluco meter ist it was 103 and in lab 87.lab technician told me that go home eat drink tea with sugar and come back after two hours.i did it and went to lab and result was 80.i went to my doc who is not a specialist in diabetes said do hba1c and result was 5.5.he said moniter your bs for 2 3 days last night i checked after one and half hour after dinner and glucometer reading was 248.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have diabetes without having high blood sugar? I've never had a glucose level over 90 on any blood test. I've had to have labs done several times throughout the last couple of years. It's usually 70-80. Once 90. Never anything else. I have to go in tomorrow for testing because my urine has had a strange odor. I don't want to say it's sweet but it's kinda similar. I've never been overweight and have never had a recorded high glucose level.
Avatar n tn In fasting for a Cholesterol test, what happens when blood sugar gets too low? Will 2 or 3 glucotablets ruin the test? My doctor insists on at least 3 hours fast before the blood test, if my glucose level is too low to drive safely it's a waste anyway. Does anyone have the answer? (I won't do an overnight fast, had problems at the lab last time with low blood sugar - my husband was driving - thank goodness).
Avatar f tn I got blood tests done...i haven't gotten the results back yet, but I looked at the sheet before I gave it to the lady who took my blood, and they aren't doing any diabetes tests! Should I reccomend it if none of the tests are positive?
709686 tn?1277432159 lifestyle related illness. Most people put the blame on the Sugar and Carbohydrate for the elevated glucose level in the blood. Actually, it is not the 'sweetness' of the modern diet that causes Type 2 Diabetes, it is the Acidic by-products that accumulated in the cellular environment that hinder the function on insulin to bring in glucose into the cells for energy production or storage. This condition is commonly known as Insulin Resistance.
Avatar n tn i have 3 children with celiac disease. we got in on a celiac study done through the university of california, irvine. we now know that my husband and i and 8 of my 9 children all are DQ2 positive. i don't know why the disease activated in only 3 of my children and no one else---at least not yet. my celiac children are all girls--identical twins that just turned 20 and a 16 year old. they were all diagnosed at the same time 5 1/2 years ago.
Avatar f tn Usually, fasting begins at midnight for a test the next day. Your sugar by the standards of your lab states it was high on your first test. The repeat is normal. I am not sure if that was a fluke. I'd probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn Glucose is sugar. They're testing how your body digests sugar during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Is blood glucose reading of 139 ok two hours after eating? I've just begun self-testing and I've had three readings of 88 (afternoon, no food), 89 (morning before eating or drinking), and 139 (two hours after eating). My mother's family has Type I diabetes (8 out of 11 total) and my father developed Type II before he died. I'm concerned because I have very high "highs" and very low "lows" complete with blurred vision, shaking, anxiety, and constant urination.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response! I fasted for 11 hours because my eyes refused to stay open past 9:30 pm. I'm here at the lab and just finished my 3rd blood draw. The first hour after the first blood draw and glucose drink was the WORST! Thankfully I didn't throw up but I almost did. They let me drink some water which helped. I'm praying that my tests come back ok and I don't have gestational diabetes. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.
875426 tn?1325528416 But while you had cited the reference range for a fasting blood sugar test which had the bottom number of the range as 60 and did not at first very specifically apply it to a random blood sugar specimen in a previous post, in a later post, you went on to say 67 is not considered low, hence the clarifying question I asked you.
Avatar m tn Please give your suggestion, guidance..
Avatar m tn Your doctor should test your HbA1c. This test gives an average blood sugar over the past approximately 3 months. Normal HBA1C is 4.3 - 4.6, with < 5.0 still being acceptable. If your HBA1C is 6 - 7 your blood sugars are too high. If it is above 7 you will be officially diagnosed as diabetic. Diet, exercise and weight loss are all a critical part of management of diabetes.
Avatar n tn It really is imperative that she have a true lab test done to see if there really is a blood sugar problem. She could do a glucose test in the lab to compare the number with the number that the lab gets if she thinks that her machine is in error. Which doesn't seem likely to me since your husband's result was normal and significantly lower than hers. Herbs of any sort should not be causing this high reading. If she is diabetic, herbal remedies alone will not solve her problem.
Avatar f tn t before and during the testing. Anyway, since I threw up they cancelled my lab and I scheduled to redo it...which was for this morning. I didn't eat after midnight and woke up feeling sick this morning...had ten minutes until my first blood draw and threw up!!!:( Just curious what will happen if I can't ever get this testing done without throwing up...anyone else have this problem?!
246464 tn?1249452147 Thanks- I was referred to one "Specialist" who told me he did not believe in Hypoglycemia as it was nothing more than a 'trendy' complaint in the 1970's. He said my readings, the EMT's Readings- have all been false lows as there was no way my Blood sugar could have been 34.. He'd only believe it if I went to a hospital lab when it gets that low and have it done there.
3206391 tn?1345548398 He said it was most likely from drinking black coffee before the blood was drawn. I remember my ex was told he could have black coffee before the blood was drawn years ago. Have they changed their view on this?
Avatar m tn After she took my blood I went and looked at the side of the trash she touched and there were blood stains (when they throw the used syrnges some of the blood drips on the side) so for sure she touched the blood and touched me. Not sure how old is the blood. Is there any risk please advice and it's my last question.
Avatar f tn For anyone that finds this in their searches, it turns out that I actually have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Autonomic testing showed a drop in blood pressure after eating which cause these symptoms!
Avatar m tn this is what happened. The lab assistant that was taking my blood put gloves on, she proceded to take my blood from my arm with a needle. And as she finished taking the blood from my arm she saw that the lid to the containter in which you put used needles into was not fully closed and clicked in. so she pressed down on the top of the lid on the needle waste containter to close it.
