Avatar f tn Anyways, been feeling off lately, so went to take a blood test. Doc said i have viral infection in my liver and also high cholesterol. Please see below for my concerns- I'm not sure what all my results mean, and was hoping could get a second opinion: -my white cell count is lower at 3.9 (normal is 4-11), and so is my lymphocytes is at 1.07 (normal is 1.5-4)- is this something to be worried about? -total protein is higher than normal at 8.4 (normal is 6.0-8.
Avatar f tn my hubby was 1 & half year post liver transplant, my question now is about his bood sugar, we are trying to monitor it , we have the kit and test sugar before and after meal, but there was time that in just a minute sugar rises and and sometimes went very low. is this normal for or the kit have a problem?
Avatar f tn Meanwhile I need a little clarification on what you are saying. You are saying that you test the blood sugar one minute and then a minute later you test again and it drops down. How much does it drop down by? Meters are not exact within a range of as much as twenty points, so if it is less than that it might just be the meter.
Avatar n tn All of my number are ok EXCEPt my fasting blood sugar. I'm not in any medication.
Avatar n tn s endocronologist said that sometimes adrenaline can make your blood sugar rise. Maybe you could do some research on adrenaline and blood sugars rising. I had never heard of this before, but it makes sense. I am thinking that being a firefighter would take alot of adrenaline and would be stressful too. Stress makes my blood sugars rise very high too.
Avatar n tn You need to eat with in one to two hours after waking....my sugar will actually go up if I don't eat. My liver starts to make sugar and since I don't produce enough insulin and can't adequately use the insulin I produce it will just keep rising! Strangely enough, as soon as I eat - the levels will stabilize.
Avatar f tn What about the theory that during th enight if your blood sugar dips low your liver will put out glucogon to help you out....and by having a 3 a.m. cracker or small drink of milk it will stop the liver from producing more sugar? This discussion is related to Fasting blood sugar levels high in the morning.
180395 tn?1287493997 " Are these levels normal?" First, I'm glad you posted for the chance of diabetes are greater when the parents have it. What you need to do today is change doctors and find one that will listen to you, offer advice, and not ignore your health. Unfortunately not all doctors follow their "hippocrates oath" and it appears yours is in this category. Ask your doctor to test your glucose (blood sugar) with an OGTT (oral fasting glucose and an A1c test.
Avatar f tn I have to take a 3 hour blood sugar test I'm nervous and scared :/ for whoever done it before how was it ?
Avatar f tn I have mine blood sugar test in 2 days. I'm so nervous. Any suggestions ...
Avatar n tn Why is it that my blood sugar is higher in the morning than it was prior to going to bed the night before? For example: At night it may read 115 (this is approx. 4 hours after dinner, and no snacking). THEN - first thing in the morning, before I've had anything to eat it reads 135. After having breakfast, right before lunch time it may be 85-90. Thanks for your feedback.
Avatar n tn I am on a strict diet and excercising. Why is my blood sugar (122-147) in the AM. After meals it is 111. I take no meds and very healthy.
Avatar f tn At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.
Avatar n tn In general, if your blood sugar level is below 100 mg / dL after fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours, then your blood sugar is normal. Blood sugar levels are usually lowest before each meal.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
Avatar f tn The doctor put me on Metformin and Yasmin, though I stopped taking the Metformin because it made me feel ill. That was over four years ago. At the time, my fasting blood sugar was 101, but I had eaten some ice cream at the beginning of the eight hour period. I had my fasting blood sugar tested again two weeks ago. I fasted for about 16 hours and my blood sugar was 87. This didn't concern my doctor, but it does concern me.
Avatar f tn m looking for information on what levels of blood sugar typically result in glycation. I have not seen my blood sugar go over 127, and I'm wondering what level I should be keeping it under in order to lower my Hgba1c. If it is becoming elevated to the 90's overnight is that causing glycation? Should I be looking for spikes that occur within an hour of eating?
Avatar f tn Usually, fasting begins at midnight for a test the next day. Your sugar by the standards of your lab states it was high on your first test. The repeat is normal. I am not sure if that was a fluke. I'd probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.
1080243 tn?1262975363 I'm a little confused, tarter. When you say your husband has "high readings 16-25 but no signs of diabetes", are those blood sugar readings? If so 16-25 (288-450 U.S.) ARE diabetic readings and the 25 especially is dangerously high. The fatigue and weight loss could very much be symptoms of diabetes. He should get checked with an A1C (an average of blood sugars for the last couple months).
2114467 tn?1358210256 ) But if you mean does sugar interfere with the meds or our liver then unless one has fatty liver or is diabetic in some way I am not entirely sure.
Avatar n tn By eating at night you may be able to help your morning blood sugar be a bit lower. When you have extended fasting your liver can put out glucose. By eating a small snack you may be able to prevent your liver doing this. hope this helps. Please come back and let us know how you're going. Often diabetes in preganncy will get worse as the pregnancy progresses (insulin resistance increases as the pregnancy progresses and the placenta grows).
Avatar n tn The Symogi effect is the tendency of the blood sugar to rise as a result of low blood sugar. Low blood sugar can trigger release of hormones such as glucagon that raise blood sugar. The liver would normally respond to declining blood sugar by increasing glycogenolysis, as I discussed above. But insulin inhibits glycogenolysis, and as you may have observed, low blood sugar occurs most often near an insulin peak.
Avatar f tn What do they test for when testing a patient's blood before surgery. More to the point, do they test for Hep A?
