Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar spike pregnancy

blood-sugar

Avatar f tn Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. I'm type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.
1058898 tn?1275675151 I have not been told if i have diabetes but my Dr. told me to watch my blood sugar because im having symptoms of hypo. I notice my blood sugar at night between 2-3 am are over 120 and my fasting blood sugar in the morning is over 100. When i get the fealing of low it is around 80 and it will keep dropping. the last time it went to 67 and i had to eat some thing i couldnt wait. i had a cup of oj and checked in 15 min and it went to 137.
Avatar f tn GI = Glycemic Index. A low GI diet is one in which the things you eat will not spike blood sugar levels, but will work to help stabilize them. For instance, eating a piece of candy will spike your blood sugar rather quickly, whereas eating a carrot will not, because of the lower sugar/carb content. Regular pasta will spike your blood sugar more quickly than whole gain pasta because it takes longer to digest the whole grain, so it doesn't go straight to the blood.
Avatar m tn ve recently been diagnosed with type II diabetes and still adjusting my medication and when I had a sugar crash yesterday at lunch I over did my sugar in take and had a sugar spike. It exhausted me, gave me first sweats then chills, nausea all afternoon. I've tried all night eating small portions and hope this morning I would feel better. But now that I'm up I'm still shaking and my blood sugar is 135. How long will I get like this and should I go back to my old dosage.
Avatar n tn My sister uses raw honey, but that too will spike your blood glucose levels. I'd try to find a coffee that you enjoy without having to add sugar if you can't get around the aftertaste of Stevia.
7543158 tn?1391978069 Eating even just a handful of almonds now (my go to snack when my sugar gets low) will spike my sugar to almost 200 and I work all day to get it back down to an acceptable level. When it finally goes down it ends up crashing into the 40s and 50s, sometimes causing me to pass out as it's so sudden when it does. I've never had this problem before and it's freaking me out a little bit because I have no one to help me while my husband is at work.
Avatar f tn I had this very early in my pregnancy and had to change what and how I eat. Certain foods can cause your blood sugar to spike up and then drop very quickly. I can't eat cake or even toast in the morning cause it will do it to me. Try staying away from sugary and breads early in morning or just one peice of wheat toast instead of two peices and eating more often. Have you had your sugar test yet?
Avatar n tn Stress can make your blood sugar rise. Have you noticed your blood sugars rise when you do one type of exercise as opposed to another? I'm just curious if you've seen any patterns.
Avatar f tn It's a little high. I was told blood sugar shouldn't be over 129. Like Hannover said take a walk that will help lower your blood sugar. I was told a 20 minute walk can drop your blood sugar by 20 pts :) . Next time don't eat the yogurt and the rice cake at the same. Time.
10161345 tn?1488138652 I've had hypoglycemia most of my life and crohn's disease for all of it (though only diagnosed a few years ago), so I've always had to be kind of careful. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with restrictive diets and hypoglycemia during pregnancy? At 27 weeks I'm struggling to keep my blood sugar up/stable between what foods are and aren't recommended during pregnancy combined with what my flare-prevention diet allows.
Avatar n tn I have since learned that cortisol controls your blood sugar levels. when I originally went on hydrocortisone, my fasting blood sugar jumped up to 113--which is too high, but it eventually has evened out to be normal over time--plus, the A1c test, that tests your average blood sugar levels over a 3 month period, was normal. When my blood sugar would drop, I would get extremely hungry and would want to just keep eating until the feeling went away.
4250330 tn?1388621179 What Can I Eat For Low Blood Sugar I Feel Really Shaky And My Hearts Beating Fast And Everything This Happened Last Time I Thought My Blood Sugar Was Low.. Im 31 Weeks and 6 Days pregnant..
Avatar f tn I have had T1D for 9 months now. The last week or so my blood sugar had been between 240-340 mg/dl and I can't get it to come down. What should I do?
Avatar f tn They will help cause your blood sugar to spike once u get a blood test done at the doctor. This especially if u are already considered overweight. I'm not saying that u will get diabetes but gummies are something u want to avoid if u want a tip top healthy pregnancy! My advice is to go with the traditional prenatal vitamins.
Avatar n tn s endocronologist said that sometimes adrenaline can make your blood sugar rise. Maybe you could do some research on adrenaline and blood sugars rising. I had never heard of this before, but it makes sense. I am thinking that being a firefighter would take alot of adrenaline and would be stressful too. Stress makes my blood sugars rise very high too.
9842459 tn?1411688168 Okay so the week before last I went to my doctor and she checked my blood sugar thing and was happy about my sugars. Well I told her my sugar did spike up to 150 something but explained that I went walking and it went down to like 90. She saw it on the tester thing so she knew I wasn't lying. Well tonight it went up to 136. It was raining and I couldn't go walking. So I'm wondering what is considered uncontrolled GD?
5650943 tn?1374112808 I have to take glucose all the time..
Avatar f tn Your husband is fine and quite normal. After eating blood glucose [sugar] plateaus in the bloodstream at 2-3 hours. At 1 hour the body hasn't been given ample time to dispose of the excess glucose. The 2 hour level of 101 mg/dl says he's normal. His mom was incorrect to test at 1 hour.
Avatar f tn The safest way to lose weight while breastfeeding or any other time is by eating a healthy diet and getting a moderate amount of exercise. Sounds like a lemonade, maple syrup and cayenne pepper diet might be some kind of fad, that isn't good for you any time, let alone while breastfeeding - I suspect that cayenne pepper might come through the breast milk and affect the baby...
Avatar f tn You only need to cut back on simple carbs, such as sugar, and processed foods made from white flour, rice, etc.. Simple carbs are the ones that spike your blood sugar, resulting in a corresponding insulin spike. Insulin is known as the fat storage hormone and whatever of those simple carbs that isn't used for energy right away is shuttled, by insulin, into fat cells.
Avatar n tn To add to Super_sally888, eating foods that contain white sugar, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup or refined carbohydrates can cause your sugar levels to spike and then suddenly drop as if you have hypoglycemia. This sudden drop in blood sugar levels is due to your pancreas releasing too much insulin to counteract the sudden high blood sugar levels that occurred from eating the aforementioned food types.
1689038 tn?1354739164 I'm confused (some would ask "what else is new?"....... LOL)....... How long ago did you have these tests? When you had the first test, you weighed 240 lbs and the test came back at 127? When you had the next test, you weighed 215 lbs? You didn't get results of that test? I'm not sure why you think you had a "sugar spike"....... 127 on a non fasting blood glucose does not mean you are diabetic. Do you keep track of your fasting blood sugars?
Avatar f tn I've been monitoring my blood sugar in the last couple of months because of increasing Hba1c levels, though my highest overnight fasting level was 89. Thought I was doing pretty well -- my highest 1 hour post prandial reading had been 140 -- until this afternoon. One hour after eating a tray of takeout sushi from the grocery store I got a reading of 236, immediately followed by a reading of 244 (to make sure it wasn't a machine error).
Avatar f tn Haha I hate diabetes and being pregnant. I'm hormonal as is and when my sugar gets a little low I'm a raging witch! It makes me laugh after but at the time everybody's like hey go eat some candy and shush. At least we're healthy for the most part here tho. She's not to big or small fluids good heart rates great. Can't wait till I can get rid of these dang hormones tho.
Avatar m tn Cut down on the simple carbs (those which contain sugar and white flour), as those break down quickly and will spike your blood sugar. Concentrate on complex carbs (fiber), such as those found in vegetables and whole grains, as they take longer to break down and won't cause blood sugar spikes. I agree that if you're overweight, you'll need to lose, but that can be very difficult, if not nearly impossible, so you have to be very diligent.
245504 tn?1224099316 I previously posted a question because I was worried that my blood sugar 1 hour after a McDonald's was 144. Well today my fasting blood glucose level was 78. So was that spike because of the McDonald's? IF I was diabetic wouldn't my fasting level be high too? Thanks so much.
