Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.

325405 tn?1262290178 My Metformin increased to 1000mg one month later and then in December my insulin was tested again it was finally normal. My morning blood sugar readings are now between 95 and 105 but if I don't take the Metformin they go up to 115 to 120. I don't test alot during the day but on those times I have after a meal I'm usually in the 120's. What was your diagnosis of Type 2 based on? Did you have the 2 or 3 hours glucose test? Sounds like your doing great managing your numbers!
Avatar m tn Check if it can raise your blood sugar levels. Some high blood pressure medicine can raise the sugar levels. Know your body. It is the inly one you will have.
Avatar m tn This morning i took my blood test (not a diabetic, trying to rule out low blood sugar that may cause some symptoms im having) and it ranged from 118 right when i woke up to 95 when i got moving. Is too much blood on the strip bad? should i just have enough on the strip to allow a reading and take my finger away? it seemed that my readings were lower when it got just enough blood to get a reading and i took my finger away. also, how fast does a sport drink like gatorade raise your blood sugar?
Avatar n tn I have been type one diabetic for about 14 years now. I am a fireman and my blood sugar will be good before I go to a fire but after the fire i will test it and it will be vary high. Avatar f tn My blood sugar is 78, feeling cold and jittery and wondering if that is too high of a number to be causing it. Since last Thursday I have been unable to eat much, and what I do eat has been immediately removed (diarrhea). I was diabetic in my last pregnancy and still needing to lose weight so I have been checking my sugars just to see if maybe that is why I feeling so low right now. Thanks for the help.
212161 tn?1599427282 If you are truly not a diabetic, meaning you have never been diagnosed as one or been tested and you know for sure, then your blood readings two hours after a meal should be close to normal. less than 120. But a non-diabetic can have slightly high readings if they've had too much food, or food that is high in sugars, carbs, etc. or a person who does not get any exercise. You also could be borderline diabetic and don't know.
Avatar f tn I am taking diabetic cough syrup, but I suspect there is something in there that is elevating my blood sugar levels. Case in point, before I took some cough medicine, my blood sugar level was 130. One hour later, I took another reading and it rose to 180. I guess the worst that will happen is the Doctor will tell me its nothing and prescribe either an antibiotic or better cough syrup. My Endo called me and said to increase my nighttime insulin until the morning level drops.
Avatar n tn When he had a seizure Friday I called 911 and the paramedics checked his blood sugar and it was 218 and they thought he might be diabetic. 8 hours later we took him to the health department and they checked his sugar (by drawing blood from his arm) and it was 112 and they said he wasn't diabetic and that the finger ***** test wasn't very accurate. They thought that the seizure caused his sugar to go up. The last time he had ate anything was 12 hours before the seizure.
539156 tn?1281818356 s VERY possible that you DO indeed have some diabetic neuropathy caused from years of having higher than normal blood sugar readings. Its a sneaky disease, just like high blood pressure. Silent robbers of life, if not treated properly. Just wanted to throw in my experiences and hope that some of this information helps.
Avatar f tn I've just begun checking my blood sugar levels the last few days because I have other health issues going on and thought I'd better check that too...for the first time in my life, my blood sugar was 167....in the evening before dinner. Since then, the lowest it's been is 97. Fasting this am was 127 and this afternoon about 45min after eating some cheese it was 202!!! I have NEVER had an elevation, by BS has always been normal or slightly low. This has me scared.
866901 tn?1505506236 My cat, Jax, is diabetic- I have to do random blood sugar curves. Well I have one coming up in Feb that I have to do- I do them myself to save money on the vet plus he gets so scared and traumatized after seeing the vet they may not get accurate results. My question is do you know anywhere I can get cheap test strips? Or a glucometer with the sample 10 strips for relatively cheap?
Avatar n tn They nay ask you to check blood sugars if they suspect a possible problem. In my case I was not diabetic... But then I got pregnant. My end asked me e to check blood sugars immediately. Lo and behold turned out I became diabetic very early in that pregnancy.

Avatar n tn My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.
400099 tn?1282954864 So I will let you all know, because I have not changed a THING about my diet that would cause higher blood sugar readings. The only addition to my life has been the Copaxone.
