246464 tn?1249452147 Also suggest you carry glucose tablets or hard candies [not sugar free] with you in case a crash occurs. Eat one to elevate your blood sugar rapidly. Dropping below 60 is dangerous, down to 34 is life threatening.
Avatar f tn Most people do not consider blood sugar to be low and in need of treatment unless it is under 70 or even under 60. However, if your blood sugar has been high for awhile than numbers that are not technically hypos can feel like they are. If you have diarrhea since last Thursday and not able to eat (regardless of your need to lose weight) you should check with your doctor as you can become dehydrated.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
Avatar f tn m to inform her if 3 of my blood sugar readings fasting are higher than 130 and if 3 blood sugar readings 2 hrs. after eating are higher than 180. So, that sounds normal for us type 2 diabetics. If you were to take another pill, it would go to low, IMO. Hope this helps you!
1080243 tn?1262975363 High blood sugar, if this is what your husband has, ARE a sign of diabetes. They are usually not a sign of anything else (unless someone is sick or on steroids, in which case levels can be temporarily high). Initially they can be the only obvious sign, which is why it is so important that people have diabetes screening at their annual checkups. Your husband should be looking into this with his doctor further and taking appropriate steps to manage it.
Avatar n tn Numerous people have told me it is either low blood sugar or low potassium and I am beginning to think they have a point. If after all, I did not have anything to eat for about seven hours and only had a sandwich for breakfast, it seems plausible. I do see how this can also be very serious however, but I am probably going to see a doctor soon. I just had a check up about a week ago or two and they did not find anything wrong. Thanks for your response though.
Avatar m tn when you test your blood sugar using the glucometer, the number you see reflects on how much sugar is trapped in the blood stream. hope this is what you are looking for! if you are looking for something more, please be more specific with your question.
Avatar f tn and the prednisone actually raising or lowering the blood glucose because then it is high or low and those numbers will effect you. Does that make sense? What I do know is that if those are accurate readings, you may no longer be pre-diabetes but may have diabetes. What is your A1C? What do you do to treat your pre-diabetes; what is important is to lose weight if you need to, lower carb intake and get regular exercise. 215 is definitely in the zone where complications begin to form.
Avatar n tn Because mine tend to be stronger when my sugar is low but last fairly steadily throughout the days. Or if something else could be causing all of these other symptoms as well as my sugar to drop?
Avatar f tn 2weeks later, I checked his sugar for about a week again. He has some normal readings but he also have some few high readings and that's before meals like 149, 163, 2 on the 200s, etc. family dr. keeps saying that this is normal for his age (60) that he's working too hard or too much. Is that true that it's normal or could this be pre-diabetes?
Avatar m tn But sugar level after 2 hrs of food is around 180-240, I checked several times. After 3-4 hrs of food it is coming to 130-140. Is it high sugar? I feel tired at times....
Avatar n tn m trying to understand why 2 hours after meals my blood sugar is typically between 70 and 90 but nearly every morning after fasting all night it's typically 102-115. I've read about the dawn phenomenon and wonder if this is the cause. Does anyone know how to help control the dawn phenomenon?
Avatar n tn m betting that he needs an intervention at perhaps the emergency room if his blood sugar is low. Low blood sugar affects every organ of the body. The O2 readings you report would concern me very much, and I'd suggest going to an emergency facility as soon as possible. Recently I was hospitalized for surgery to my stomach, and my blood sugar levels fell, followed by my by blood pressure (much lower than what you report), and my O2 level dropped into the high 80% areas.
Avatar m tn In the last two days I woke up each morning with readings of 100. Within an hour, (no food or humalog intake) blood sugar dropped to 40. I ate (taking no insulin) and readings went up to about 80, but kept dropping to 60. I am doing nothing differently than I usually do. What is going on?
Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia (Low Blood sugar) is a form of Diabetes. The other Form is Hyperglycemia (High Blood sugar). So yes you are Diabetic.
Avatar n tn In general, though, any physical activity will help lower and/or control blood glucose in diabetics, and physical activity might show low blood sugar readings in immediate post-activity testing for any person who is not diabetic... In terms of "diagnosing" diabetes, that really is best done with fasting blood glucose levels. (Generally in the morning after not consuming anything except small amounts of water for at least 8 hours).
Avatar m tn My question is i have type 2 diabetes, and in the morings before i eat my blood sugar reading is 140 to 162 my meds are metformin 1ooo mg in the morning, and 1ooo in the eaving with meals. i allso take dlipizide 5 mg in the morning before i eat and 5 mg in eaving before i eat.my last ac1 was 7.3 up from 6.9 my urin creatine was 116. and creatine was 1.
325405 tn?1262290178 I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal? Right now, I'm testing about 100 to 110 in the morning and about 110 to 130 after meals. If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good?
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
Avatar m tn Check if it can raise your blood sugar levels. Some high blood pressure medicine can raise the sugar levels. Know your body. It is the inly one you will have.
Avatar n tn Low blood sugar is typically considered as blood sugars below 65 - 70. If blood sugar is low it is easy to bring it up by taking a little juice, or sugar. 5 - 10 g of sugar may be enough to bring it back up to normal range. hope this helps.
Avatar f tn That would be what would tell you how concerned you should be with your blood sugar number. What the doctor is watching whether you need some form of insulin to keep your sugar to a acceptable level.
212161 tn?1599427282 so if your sugar has been high, or alittle high, then the readings wont come back low. my a1c was 7.7 which is pretty high. you want your a1c to be between 5 and 6. diabeties runs in my family. I found out about it when i went to the hospital for my asthma, and they tested my sugar and it was in the 500. which, is very scarily high. anyway... so hope that helps.
