Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar numbers mg dl

blood-sugar

Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
Avatar f tn Those are encouraging numbers but they seem high compared to what I've been reading. I've been recently diagnosed and am confused about the proper ranges as well. My understanding is is fasting pre meal should be 100mg/dl or below and under 140mg/dl 2 hours after beginning a meal. Today I experimented and had a breakfast with fried potatoes and an English muffin with marmalade slathered on. 2 hours later my level was 179mg/dl.
1680047 tn?1468911829 The normal blood sugar levels for kids are the same as that of an adult i.e. less than 6.1-7 mmol or 110-126 mg/dl, fasting and less than 7.8-10 mmol or 140-180 mg/dl after food. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn ) Postprandial [2-3 hours after a meal] same as fasting 60/70 to 99 mg/dl. Usually 1 hour after eating blood sugars rarely exceed 140 mg/dl, and return to normal levels within 2-3 hours. If your test results during these time periods fall between 100 and 125 mg/dl you are considered prediabetic. Above 126 mg/dl is considered diabetes. As you can see having levels of "always 115 to 147" is not normal.
Avatar n tn In general, if your blood sugar level is below 100 mg / dL after fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours, then your blood sugar is normal. Blood sugar levels are usually lowest before each meal.
Avatar n tn Children 5-11 For children who are between the ages of 5 and 11, normal blood sugar targets are 70 to 150mg/dL. Fasting blood sugars should be nearer to 70mg/dL. Blood sugar after meals and before bedtime should be near 150mg/dL.
1096641 tn?1271707225 "Is my itchiness related to my blood sugar?" My answer is yes and no. Irregular blood glucose can cause itchiness. Liver damage can cause it too. I say this because of your Addiction Recovery profile, which I must congratulate you on for your road to recovery. When itchy does liquid [water or lotion] applied to the itchy area provide temporary relief? If yes, seek referral to a Gastroenterologist and get a either Contrasted CT Scan or a biopsy of the liver.
Avatar m tn I've been taking metformin 500mg once daily for the 6 weeks. My blood fasting sugar level has gone down 71 mg/dL and hasn't gone over 80mg/dL for the last 5 days. My blood sugar level after meal in the evening (I took 2 hours after dinner) has been under 100 mg/dL for the last 7 days. Should I stop taking medication? I've just called my doctor but his office is closed today because of snow storm.
Avatar n tn Hello, sometimes after meal my blood sugar can be up to 190 mg/dl (if I ate a lot of carb-rich meals such as bread). The test with oral intake of 75 g of glucose gave a rise up to 210 mg/dl (after 50 min), and then a fast drop to 61 mg/dl (after 135 min). Is it considered normal and what should I do with this? Is such condition known and can it develop to diabetes? My fasting sugar is always around 90 mg/dl. Thank you!
Avatar f tn 120 mg/dl is a normal random blood sugar level. Generally, below 140 mg/ dl is considered to be normal for random blood sugar.

Avatar f tn s good to see your A1c lowering. However, @ 6.3% equates to a daily blood sugar average of 134 mg/dl. Continue to follow the three basic rules of diabetes control and management. This helps get your blood sugars as close too if not down to normal levels; 1] eat a diabetic diet low in carbs free of sugary foods and liquids, avoid foods made with white flour and starchy foods like potatoes, white rice and pasta; 2] maintain normal body weight; 3] daily 30-60 min of exercise.
Avatar f tn January, normal range 70-110 mg/dL , found 136 (hadn't eaten that morning or the night before) May, normal range 90-100 mg/dL , found 99 (had eaten some cheese the night before) Both morning tests I am 22, is this normal?
Avatar m tn To add to my suspicion my job made us to blood work last month and my Glucose level was at 80 mg/dL. A1C was not measured on this exam. Do you think I should re-test? This seems strange but then again this is all very new to me. Please any insight would be very helpful.
Avatar f tn Yes, your numbers are diabetic. Diet and exercise and possibly medications will be required to control your blood sugar. Please learn about diabetes and it's management. With good control you will be fine. Low carb, moderate protein, high healthy fats diet is a very good way to manage diabetes. Further regular (daily) exercise will help. You will need to get a blood sugar meter and test your blood sugar 2 hours after eating.
Avatar f tn Hopefully, I can answer your questions clearly. Normal ranges for A1c are 3.8 - 5% [60 - 99 mg/dl], or 4.1 - 5% [70 - 99 mg/dl] depending on the doctor. At 6% it equates to a daily average of 125 mg/dl, borderline diabetes by a very slim margin. By slim I mean that diabetes begins at 126 mg/dl. That weird feeling you got when your level was 67 mg/dl happened because your body was accustomed to and adjusted to higher levels.
