1058898 tn?1275675151 I have not been told if i have diabetes but my Dr. told me to watch my blood sugar because im having symptoms of hypo. I notice my blood sugar at night between 2-3 am are over 120 and my fasting blood sugar in the morning is over 100. When i get the fealing of low it is around 80 and it will keep dropping. the last time it went to 67 and i had to eat some thing i couldnt wait. i had a cup of oj and checked in 15 min and it went to 137.
Avatar n tn Most doctors will not just take your word for it, but will need to see what the numbers actually are, so this is why i suggest you making these notes for a week or two before you see your doctor. Then, when you see your doctor, ask him or her if it is appropriate to start adding insulin to your regimen.
Avatar f tn i am not diabetic but for some reason, for the.oast couple weeks i have been monitoring my blood sugar and its all over the place. the highest ive noticed was 281 after a big dinner and 2 minutes later it drops down to 113. any other ones are like, 232, 158 but i dont feel anything weird in my body at all. but my blood sugar when i woke up yesterday morning was 97 that was before breakfast. pls if u know anything about this, give an advice on wut to do.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
1448460 tn?1284694467 t have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet. I was on prednisone for several months and my blood sugar was rarely below 400 which is why they put me on insulin. If you are overly concerned, speak with your doctor or diabetes consultant.
Avatar m tn a1c is the average, but it is also important to see the fasting numbers. Sometimes early in diabetes only the fasting numbers may be high, and paying attention to these may give a heads up on taking action. Ideally fasting is < 100 (and even better if it's in the 80s). Normal non-diabetic a1c is < 5.0, though you may not get diagnosed as diabetic until you are 5.7 or higher.
Avatar f tn ve had peripheral neuropathy and diabetes 2 for about 7 years now. I see a neurologist, endocrynologist, podiatrist and my primary doctor and so far no real answers.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar f tn I agree with troytroy that you need to meet with a doctor or diabetic educater to learn the basics of diabetes care. First of all being continually over 130 for fasting blood sugar is too high. Your wife needs to have her doctor evaluate her medication regimen and see if something needs to be changed. Also I'm guessing you don't know much about diet and exercise to help control Type II diabetes and this is very important to learn.
Avatar n tn I am assuming that you are referring to your menstrual cycle. For people with diabetes, it is common for blood sugar levels to rise during the premenstrual phase, due to production of hormones that oppose insulin's action. For those who don't have diabetes, the pancreas adjusts by secreting extra insulin, so blood sugar should not rise.
1058898 tn?1275675151 they did a a1c test and it is only at 5. i had to go in for a all day fast. for the first couple hr my blood stayed ate 95. they also was taking blood out of my arm every time they checked my blood with the meter. my labs were coming back as below 70. so this whole time when i started to feal hypo when my blood sugar was in the 90, it was really in the 70 and below. the endo said i have low sugars and i have to see a dietitian tomorrow to learn how to keep my sugars up.
Avatar f tn I think you should watch your carbs and try and get those numbers lower, it will only be better for you....no matter which list of "numbers" you look at as normal for a diabetic....you should strive for lower....however if they are within the numbers listed(which most doctors I know use for diabetics) then don't stress over it. Do your best. Exercise and watch those carbs. Learn to read labels. Good luck!
Avatar n tn You need to see your doctor ASAP and get an A1C which tests an average blood sugar for a couple month. But be sure and tell your doctor about the lows because they could skew the average. When you are that low you need some fast acting carbs such as a glass of orange juice to bring your numbers up. But mostly you need to see the doctor and get a diagnosis and treatment. Diabetes is a manageable condition, but the longer it goes uncontrolled the more likely complications.
Avatar f tn Frances. Normal blood sugars are always on the range of 70 - 120. Your sugars are dangerously high. At 480 you should hoi to the er. Your metformin and glipicide are not working. Aft this point you need to be on insulin. This should be basal-bolus type regime with both long and short acting insulin. Go back to your Dr. If you're doctor won't purr you on insulin and manage your diabetes mute aggressively you need a brew Dr.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have diabetes without having high blood sugar? I've never had a glucose level over 90 on any blood test. I've had to have labs done several times throughout the last couple of years. It's usually 70-80. Once 90. Never anything else. I have to go in tomorrow for testing because my urine has had a strange odor. I don't want to say it's sweet but it's kinda similar. I've never been overweight and have never had a recorded high glucose level.
Avatar n tn Fiber can help keep your blood sugar stable. It slows your digestion, which allows for a more steady release of carbs into your bloodstream. Here's some advice from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app on this topic. http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Natures-Blood-Sugar-Secret/1822 You can find this in the app by going to the Health Guide from the menu in the upper left corner of the home screen, and toggling to the Eat Right section, then scrolling down.
Avatar n tn A compounder came to draw the blood. I have given blood for PP gain today with almost same meal with two half boiled eggs. Just to ensure a double check.
Avatar f tn Hi, the normal target for blood sugar is 4-7mmol/L before eating, and 2 hours after eating is 5-10mmol/L for people with diabetes. For people who are pre-diabetes is 4-6mmol/L before eating, and 5-8mmol/L 2 hour after eating. best of luck!
Avatar f tn m wondering if the OP meant when should a diabetic begin using meds to manage blood sugar? If so, some people are able to manage Type 2 diabetes with just diet and exercise and this should always be the first approach. If you are able to maintain target range blood sugars this way, great! Just continue testing periodically to make sure it is still working, and to see how certain foods affect your blood sugar.
Avatar n tn i just got diagnosed with type2 diabetes. my fasting number was 13.5ml/dl. for 2 days now all i have eaten was 3 tins of tuna. my blood sugar levels are still 11.0 ml/dl . i dont know what to do.
3530672 tn?1370038043 It all depends on your blood sugar. If you have good control over your blood sugar then your baby should not be impacted. Are you testing your blood sugar regularly? If you're under 90 when you wake up and under 140 an hour after meals, you are pretty much good.
Avatar n tn If a person has been living with blood sugar in 10-11 range for a while, they might well function, but they are literally starving and that can partly explain the fatigue. If they endure those levels for weeks, months, or years at a time, the symptoms can possibly be explained by cardio-vascular and/or neurological complications of uncontrolled diabetes.
