Blood sugar monitor on arm

Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar monitor on arm

blood-sugar

Avatar m tn I have 2 BP monitors and they almost always are very inconsistent with reading. I'll check at the same time too. One is the OMRON HEM-711DLX arm cuff monitor. The other is a Timex wrist monitor. The arm cuff monitor (Omron) will say something like 121/75, while at the very same time, the wrist monitor, on my other arm will say 132/95. If my actual BP is 132/95, I'd like to know, cause that means medication.
Avatar f tn d probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.

1947337 tn?1331423890 I slept til almost 3 and i had to just force myself to get up and unlock the door for my son. All i could think of was to check my blood sugar (i have a maachine from yrs ago when i had gest diab but have never had any other prob that i know of. Anyway, it was 56 which i think is low so i ate a couple of spoonsful of pb and drank a dr pepper. Waited 45 min and checked it again, it went up to 72. I still don't feel good but better than this morning....
Avatar m tn An incident five months ago started me monitoring my blood pressure regularly. The same incident (atrial fibrillation) resulted in the discovery that I had high blood pressure. I am now taking Ramipril to reduce the HBP. A few days every week I stop in at one of the many local pharmacies in the area and take my readings. These pharmacies almost all use the same monitor - the Lifeclinic/Vita-Stat LC300. Safeway uses the PharmaSmart PS-1000. They are all pretty consistent, one-to-the other.
1058898 tn?1275675151 they also was taking blood out of my arm every time they checked my blood with the meter. my labs were coming back as below 70. so this whole time when i started to feal hypo when my blood sugar was in the 90, it was really in the 70 and below. the endo said i have low sugars and i have to see a dietitian tomorrow to learn how to keep my sugars up. she didnt tell me why my sugars are dropping low at all. all she said is that its probably my diet. how does your diet make you have low sugars?

Avatar f tn half year post liver transplant, my question now is about his bood sugar, we are trying to monitor it , we have the kit and test sugar before and after meal, but there was time that in just a minute sugar rises and and sometimes went very low. is this normal for or the kit have a problem?
Avatar f tn I agree with Occupant, I would wait a lot longer than one minute between blood pressure measurements on the same arm. Ten minutes is good. Still, those are some weird results that you got. Even the first reading was weird. If the cuff is too big or too small, that's usually pretty obvious. You do need to make sure that the sensor inside the cuff is in the right position, directly over the brachial artery.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
1031908 tn?1253669507 Someone else might want to confirm this, but I believe it does not matter. If you notice that you get a better reading on a certain arm, then use that one. Some people have a BP that is so low, thay can't even get a reading. Switching arms in this case would be beneficial. When I was in the hospital, they actually had to take my BP on my leg!
Avatar n tn I have a wrist BP monitor and a arm cuff one. On occasion when I was in a-fib the wrist monitor would not read. It would state "error" and automatically try again, I did not have that kind of problem whenever I used the cuff monitor.
1610171 tn?1298178507 why there is difference in blood pressure on right arm and left arm especially when difference is more than 20-25 in both systolic and diastolic
11715504 tn?1422286415 I didn't even go for GD yet I can get it back down easily. I have a drs appt tomorrow with the GD doctor. But I wouldn't do that to my baby ever I try to be so careful. Doesn't stress raise blood sugar? Or is that blood pressure? Cuz I have been stressed out lately. But I'm going to do what's Best for my son he's my first!!
5770739 tn?1382315166 When I had mine it was through my arm. If your doctor is anything like mine sweetie you won't feel a thing because I didn't. She did a great job.
Avatar m tn It could be either his blood pressure medication, low blood sugar, or both. I take blood pressure medication myself and it says right on the bottle not to consume it with alcohol. Granted, I've never had any problems, but I also usually only have two drinks when I drink and I rarely drink. However, you mentioned that he hadn't eaten lunch yesterday and was drinking in the evening. Alcohol lowers your blood sugar, so it could be that his blood sugar is dropping.
558301 tn?1215730856 A few days ago she started taking Metformin to try to start lowering her blood sugar and there has been no change. I understand that high blood sugar levels are associated with higher risk for infections and complications and that Metformin is sometimes associated with lactic acidosis when taken just before/after surgery. My concerns: - is it safe for my mother (75yrs) to take MetforminHCL the day before and day after surgery? - What can I do to help if/when her blood sugar goes too high?
Avatar f tn A little background... at age 2 BG of 350+ put us in hospital for weekend. One more reading of 200. No meds, it normalized. Now she is 8 and says she wakes up feeling sick and dizzy. FBG are elevated. A1C is elevated, but not in diabetic range. After posting before about my daughters odd readings I started monitoring her BG closely. I wanted to arm myself with a week's log before seeing her pediatrician next week in hopes of getting referral to pediatric endocrinologist.
1209036 tn?1299178657 Anything over 130/140 (depending on the doc) you may be asked to make major changes to your diet or even take pills and you will have to test your sugar daily at home with a blood glucose monitor that uses a drop of blood from your finger.
Avatar n tn Hi, Can I ask what insulins you take? Are you on pump or MDI (multiple daily injections). Is your basal insulin taken once or twice a day. If you are going low from exercise, you may need to decrease your basal (this is easier if you are on a pump). Alternatively you may plan your exercise after eating and inject slightly less than usual insulin for the meal, as the exercise will naturally bring your blood sugars down.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Tbd what are the best methods, based on accuracy and ease for checking ones blood sugar?
1211508 tn?1343079605 I always check both..about twice on the arm monitor, twice on the wrist, all within a couple minutes. Sometimes the readings are close but often they are WAY different. Take today. My arm monitor said my BP was 107/68 whereas the wrist monitor said 126/83. Although I've read that the wrist monitors are usually LESS accurate I actually think my true BP is closer to what the wrist monitor says....kinda doubt it's really as low as 107/68, which is what the arm monitor says.
180395 tn?1287493997 Once before breakfast and once before lunch. So I decided to buy a glucose monitor to check to see if maybe low blood sugar was the culprit. Well this morning before I bought it I came to work, had 2 donuts for breakfast (this isnt an everyday thing, someone just decided to be nice and bring some to work this morning) then I had 2 cups of coffee with creamer that contains sugar and on the way to work this morning I had a large cup of sweet tea.
