Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
Avatar f tn Hello, there is not an easy conversion between unit syringes and cc syringes and you have a very high risk of overdosing (= dangerous). If you are in US you might be able to buy some unit syringes over the counter at wall mart chemist or another chemist. It is very important that you control your blood sugar well. Although it is not widely discussed, it is possible to reuse insulin syringes providing:- 1.
Avatar n tn Left untreated, diabetes causes blood sugar to go extremely high. Your blood sugar of 29 would be considered extremely low. One other thing worries me, fruits, sweets and juice do contain carbohydrates. They are what are called simple carbohydrates. In other words your body breaks them down into glucose very fast. I would talk to a doctor about this as soon as possible since this is having a negative impact on your life.
Avatar n tn He has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes since last 4 months. His sugar levels are generally in control although I have not done his A1C test. I want to explore insulin pump for him. I live in India and we don't have insurance to cover the pump and its supplies. I have following questions. (1) Would there be any improvement in his levels (both low and high) including A1C. (2) My doctor told me that I must know how to convert food / carb / insulin requirement.
Avatar n tn however, you do need to work out how to do a correction of high blood sugars using humalog. For me, 1 unit of humalog will drop my blood sugar by 2.2 points. So if I am say 9 and wanted to be 7 I would take 1 unit of humalog. btw the coversion between numbers is 18. Hope this helps. Strongly recommend the book "think like a pancreas". See if you can get it from your library or find it in a bookshop. The levemir is not dosed based on your blood sugar at the time of dosing.
Avatar f tn Novorapid is a bolus, or fast acting insulin it is dosed to correct high blood sugar levels (correction dosing) and to cover meals (dosed based on amount of carbs and protein eaten in any single meal). They can be taken at the same time, though not in the same syringe. For example, your partner takes his usual daily dose of tresiba at 7 am. However, his blood sugar is 150 and he wants it to be 80.
Avatar n tn It makes a BIG difference when you test your blood sugar [glucose]. Not knowing your country of residence, the following are testing times with US measurement units. The UK and other countries, like Canada, require conversion from mg/dl to mmol/l. ● Fasting - first thing in morning before eating or drinking anything except water.
Avatar f tn Your Free T4 is above the middle of its range, which is good. Your Free T3 is at only 23% of the range shown, so there is plenty of room to increase as necessary to relieve symptoms. Those levels show inadequate conversion of T4 to T3, so I'd ask the doctor about adding some T3 to your meds. What are your Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin levels?
325405 tn?1262290178 I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal? Right now, I'm testing about 100 to 110 in the morning and about 110 to 130 after meals. If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good?
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar n tn If I get up and check my blood sugar levels and I'm 105. After I have breakfast should I take my Metformin even though my sugar level is good?
Avatar n tn Hello, Definitely your blood sugar levels are raised. First of you need to start exercising and do brisk wals for atleast 45 min per day. A diet that includes fruits, vegetables, fiber-containing foods, and low-fat milk is advised. Consumption of foods with a low glucose levels appears to reduce postprandial glucose rise and improve glycemic control. Reduced calorie and nonnutritive sweeteners are useful.
Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia means low blood sugar (glucose). The blood glucose levels in healthy individuals fluctuate depending greatly on the duration of fasting. The normal range is 70 to 120 mg/dl after an overnight (12 hours) fast. In healthy men, the blood glucose can drop to 55 mg/dl after 24 hours of fasting and to 48 mg/dl after 72 hours of fasting. In healthy women, glucose levels can be as low as 35 mg/dl after only 24 hours of fasting.
Avatar n tn Raised levels of hormones cause glucose to be released into the blood stream and simultaneous insulin resistance. The results is that blood sugar levels increase, in spite of higher levels of circulating insulin. The effect starts at about 3am and continues until around 11am. You can try increasing the pre-breakfast Humalog dosage. The drawback of this is that Humalog is very short-acting. And getting the timing right is hard.
Avatar n tn At dinner I ate lasagna, salad, sweet tea. Anyway 30-45 minutes after dinner, my blood sugar was 118. Is this normal or does it seem kind of high? At the doctor last year fasting it was 91. Also, I have been suffereing from severe fatigue after my long runs and have to basically sit down for the rest of the day which I hate. I am going to start to check my blood sugar after these runs to see what it is. I eat alot after the long runs but it does not seem to help.
