Avatar m tn Your doctor should test your HbA1c. This test gives an average blood sugar over the past approximately 3 months. Normal HBA1C is 4.3 - 4.6, with < 5.0 still being acceptable. If your HBA1C is 6 - 7 your blood sugars are too high. If it is above 7 you will be officially diagnosed as diabetic. Diet, exercise and weight loss are all a critical part of management of diabetes.
Avatar n tn s endocronologist said that sometimes adrenaline can make your blood sugar rise. Maybe you could do some research on adrenaline and blood sugars rising. I had never heard of this before, but it makes sense. I am thinking that being a firefighter would take alot of adrenaline and would be stressful too. Stress makes my blood sugars rise very high too.
Avatar f tn When was the last time your husband saw his doctor for a complete health checkup? With blood sugar levels always over 250 tells us he's not managing his diabetes well. Why don't you ask his doctor to refer him to a local hospital that holds diabetes education classes?

Avatar f tn For some people, Metformin can cause glucose [blood sugar] levels to drop too low [hypoglycemia]. This often times happens when Metformin is combined with other diabetes medications, and is more common in elderly folks or folks with internal organ issues. Low glucose also can happen when fasting before surgery or a blood test/s and after lengthy exercise. You should notify your doctor of your low glucose experiences ASAP. Ask your doctor how to adjust your Metformin dose if needed.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar f tn Before this issue also he was having high levels of triglyceride in this blood. Before 2 months when he checked it was under 250 and when he checked this month it was increased to 393. Now my question is with proper exercise and diet can his triglyceride can be reduced? & people with no thyroid gland can also reduce the triglyceride? Please answer and help me.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
752468 tn?1237560359 Hi...I am a member of the Breast Cancer Community and just found out that my husband's blood glucose level fasting is 250. He has had the symptoms of diabetis ...excessive thirst, weight loss...tingly feet, and I noticed very sticky spots of urine on the bathroom floor. We are not surprised that he has diabetis...runs in the family. My question is, where do we go first. He hasn't even talked to a doctor yet, but we want to get a jump on this.
Avatar f tn i am not diabetic but for some reason, for the.oast couple weeks i have been monitoring my blood sugar and its all over the place. the highest ive noticed was 281 after a big dinner and 2 minutes later it drops down to 113. any other ones are like, 232, 158 but i dont feel anything weird in my body at all. but my blood sugar when i woke up yesterday morning was 97 that was before breakfast. pls if u know anything about this, give an advice on wut to do.
Avatar m tn I wonder if A1c tests can skew, where periodic high blood sugar levels eclipse relatively normal control over a span of time. imagine a rug which has been clean for a while, but a cup of wine recently dropped will make it appear stained. Is this parallel apt for A1c results? This discussion is related to How do i lower my hemoglobin A1c?.
1154065 tn?1262184706 I recently have been struggling in terms of my ketone levels jumping up the the Moderate level while have my sugar being stuck between 160-250, I typically had had my sugar go down as far as 80-90, but now it never seems to go down, even if I dont eat or do anything. I am 25 and very confused. I also have binge drank a bit over the past weekend. I wonder if that is connected? I currently do not take any drugs, I am holistic.
Avatar n tn s blood sugar goes up when the diabetic usually has high levels. For example, when my mother was diagnosed as a diabetic, her blood sugar was over 1000 and she was alert and could walk. You see, my mother must have been a diabetic for a very long time and didn't know it. So her blood sugar slowly climbed up and her body was used to always having a very high blood sugar. Diabetics can get used to having high blood sugar.
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
Avatar m tn Hmmm I've never heard of Cheerios spiking blood sugar; good thing I quite eating it a while back, huh?... LOL Have you considered that it might be the blueberries? They have a lot of sugar in them and even though it's "natural", it can spike blood sugar levels. I'm impressed with your 26 lb weight loss... If I could lose 26 lbs, I'd be about where I want/need to be. Have you thought (or talked to your doctor) about daily or weekly blood testing with a home meter?
Avatar m tn I arrived at the ER with a blood sugar of 558 mg/dl. I was given 10 units of insulin via IV and was sent home two hours later with a BS of 228 mg/dl. I'm taking 1000 mg of Metformin every twelve hours but I can't get my sugar below 250 mg/dl. I've been eating two boil eggs and one slice of wheat bread with butter for breakfast and chicken salads with no dressing for lunch and dinner yet I can't get my bs below 250 mg/dl. Am I doing something wrong?
325405 tn?1262290178 I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal? Right now, I'm testing about 100 to 110 in the morning and about 110 to 130 after meals. If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good?
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
