Avatar f tn Cholesterol is processed in the liver actually so your elevated ldl and cholesterol levels are likely due to your liver issues. There is a great website called liver doctor by Dr Sandra Cabot which goes into great detail on how to help improve liver function. I can personally recommend milk thistle.
Avatar f tn When this occurs, a person cannot maintain his or her blood glucose levels and will develop hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) within a few hours after eating. The low levels of glucose in the blood of these individuals often result in chronic hunger, fatigue, and irritability. These symptoms are especially noticeable in infants. Since people with GSD I are able to store glucose as glycogen but unable to release it normally, stores of glycogen build up in the liver over time and cause it to swell.
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
Avatar n tn Other common health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, pancreatitis, hemolytic anemia and thyroid disease, can also cause liver transaminase elevations. Most liver diseases are characterized by greater ALT elevations than AST elevations except cirrhosis and alcohol abuse. ALT also rises in bile duct obstruction due to stone or tumor. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
5789562 tn?1374459029 The only painkiller that is safe to use in pregnancy is paracetamol (acetaminophen). Depending where you live, brand name is either panadol and tylenol. Paracetamol should be taken exactly as prescribed to reduce the risks of experiencing life threatening side effects. I reversed my insulin resistance cutting out all refined sugar in my diet (my reason for insulin resistance). Although to add, my insulin resistance worsened and I developed pre diabetes due to hyperthyroidism.
1461994 tn?1285897132 Hi, I've been on Interferon/Ribavarin therapy for 3 weeks now for HCV Genotype 2B. When I started, my glucose was 78 but it jumped to 90 this week. Is this normal? Should I be concerned that I'm going to develop diabetes if I continue with tx for 21 more weeks? My blood sugar has always been in the 70's or 80's, no family history of diabetes, I'm 59, thin and in good physical condition otherwise.
Avatar n tn You need to eat with in one to two hours after waking....my sugar will actually go up if I don't eat. My liver starts to make sugar and since I don't produce enough insulin and can't adequately use the insulin I produce it will just keep rising! Strangely enough, as soon as I eat - the levels will stabilize.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
18045317 tn?1462676428 You seem to have a biliary issue. Are your ALP and Bilirubin blood levels elevated? If so, are your AST and ALT levels elevated as well?? If your bile flow becomes obstructed, this will damage your liver and your ALT and AST levels will rise. Let us know how things are going.
Avatar m tn Besides an elevated ALT, your other labs are within normal range. Liver enzyme levels must be used with other blood tests, examination, and medical history.
Avatar n tn s. When a person is under more stress, the blood sugar levels can drop. By depriving yourself of sugar, may be causing more symptoms. Try eating crackers and cheese when you are having symptoms to see if that helps. If it helps in 20 minutes after eating it, it is most likely due to blood sugar. If you find this to be true, try eating more protein rich foods.
Avatar f tn t as visible until i became ill I always have low blood sugar, low blood pressure, low blood platelets, headaches and i crave salt i have a hard time falling asleep when i have headaches and i also lose my appetite. Could I have addisons disease please help.
Avatar n tn There are many reasons for trembling/shakes, perhaps your Dr should start with a blood test to look at your electrolyte levels. These are metals which you consume in food and assist the nervous system in conductivity. A lack can cause shakes and make you feel somewhat lethargic. I used to take a tonic years ago, I think it was metatone tonic which was a syrup containing all kinds of metals. It was like a magic medicine, really boosting you. Not sure if anything like that is still available.
Avatar n tn If treatment begins before any of these organs have been affected, diseases such as liver disease, heart disease, arthritis, and diabetes can usually be prevented. How well a person does depends on the amount of organ damage. Some organ damage can be reversed when hemochromatosis is detected early and treated aggressively with phlebotomy. See: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn This is planned after correlating with imaging studies, clinical symptoms and other blood tests. Elevated levels can occur with liver disease, but other causes for the enzyme elevation could be muscle disease or injury. Some medications can also raise these levels. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
2005965 tn?1332667991 Fatty liver due to alcoholism is called Alcoholic fatty liver disease and the other one is Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which is due to obesity, diabetes and high triglyceride levels. Only if fatty liver disease advances a person can develop cirrhosis .The process can stop and, in some cases, reverse on its own without specific therapy. Lifestyle changes may be helpful. You should refrain from taking alcohol, as this will cause further injury to the liver.
Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia means low blood sugar (glucose). The blood glucose levels in healthy individuals fluctuate depending greatly on the duration of fasting. The normal range is 70 to 120 mg/dl after an overnight (12 hours) fast. In healthy men, the blood glucose can drop to 55 mg/dl after 24 hours of fasting and to 48 mg/dl after 72 hours of fasting. In healthy women, glucose levels can be as low as 35 mg/dl after only 24 hours of fasting.
1806721 tn?1554333407 An AC1 blood test determines the long-term blood sugar levels in your cells and is the gold star test to establish a diabetes diagnosis. I'm a type 2 diabetic, and almost always test after fasting between 100 - 115, but my AC1 tests dropped below 6.0 after adopting a diet suggested by a dietician. Fasting sometimes causes short term rises in blood sugar, but the AC1 test is far more accurate. I've taken statins for fifteen years, they are very safe.
Avatar m tn The point was brought up about thrist and diabetes. It is a good call and you should have your fasting blood sugar checked too. Thirst, may coincide with dehydration and alcholism or drinking too much too. hope this helps.
Avatar n tn By eating at night you may be able to help your morning blood sugar be a bit lower. When you have extended fasting your liver can put out glucose. By eating a small snack you may be able to prevent your liver doing this. hope this helps. Please come back and let us know how you're going. Often diabetes in preganncy will get worse as the pregnancy progresses (insulin resistance increases as the pregnancy progresses and the placenta grows).
