Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
72351 tn?1281992542 Hi Cindi! We're all glad to be here and to help you with your diabetes questions. We are also volunteers, so any information that is passed on to you should first be verified with your diabetes healthcare team. I am a Mom of a 16 year old girl who was diagnosed at the age of 21 months, so the information that you receive from me is based on my experiences with living with diabetes for almost 15 years.
Avatar n tn When he had a seizure Friday I called 911 and the paramedics checked his blood sugar and it was 218 and they thought he might be diabetic. 8 hours later we took him to the health department and they checked his sugar (by drawing blood from his arm) and it was 112 and they said he wasn't diabetic and that the finger ***** test wasn't very accurate. They thought that the seizure caused his sugar to go up. The last time he had ate anything was 12 hours before the seizure.
180395 tn?1287493997 Donuts are not good (I know you said this is not usual) because they digest very quickly releasing a lot of sugar, then your insulin levels will go way up and drive the sugar down. However, becuase the donuts are already digested there is not enough ready sugar available (and maybe your insulin response was very high) and then your blood sugars will be driven very low.
Avatar n tn I am having problems keeping my blood sugar levels under control. I care for my 80 year old mother who has Alzheimer's and am often very stressed and it goes up. My levels are more often too high but on occasion drop too low when I don't eat properly or am overly active. I woke up one night to go to the restroom and actually fell out in the floor. I could not get up. I was extremely weak and dizzy, nauseated and felt and acted like someone extremely drunk.
11970398 tn?1443134602 I have a bad soda addiction , period . like need help with it My doctor suggested drinking two cups of water for every 16 ounce coke ...
Avatar f tn i have GD & they want me to test my blood sugar 2 hours after eating, & it should be under 120. some say 130. when fasting, or waking up in the morning it should be between 60-90.
Avatar n tn Forget eating snacks when low and always opt for Gatorade or juice (Gatorade is quicker to digest). Doing this gets the sugar levels back up before the brain, desperate for glucose, can signal the liver to dump emergency sugars. This is the goal, to prevent the liver from being called into action to dump emergency sugars, for their presence in the body confuses the brain into thinking that it has enough sugar when it may be low.
Avatar n tn She recently experienced a dangerously low blood sugar (20 or below) and had to be taken to the emergency room. All the literature I've read and the doctors I've asked say that it isn't a terrible problem as long as the mother didn't stop breathing and the reaction was treated promptly, but we still can't shake the fear and anxiety that something bad happened.
Avatar n tn I can feel it when my blood sugar levels are dropping quickly even if they have not reached hypoglycemic levels, and I have heard other diabetic people say the same thing. If your glucose levels rise above the norm a lot during the day, your brain is reacting by asking your pancreas to secrete more insulin in order to lower those levels. When this happens, your glucose then drops either back to normal, or in some people, a little lower than normal.
Avatar f tn and suddenly he was fainting, my parents thought it was because og low sugar levels so they gave him some orange juice. And then he couldn't walk, and started to make some sounds. What happened to him?
Avatar f tn You have to be 28wks to get the sugar test and it's just drinking this super sweet juice then waiting an hour to get your blood taken to make sure you don't have diabetes... I took mine on the 15th and it made me super sleepy right after... My sugar came back normal... I wasn't too worried about the test cause I know I don't eat a lot of sugar... Maybe that's why you got dizzy, cause that sugar gave you a rush and your not use to it...
Avatar f tn For some people, Metformin can cause glucose [blood sugar] levels to drop too low [hypoglycemia]. This often times happens when Metformin is combined with other diabetes medications, and is more common in elderly folks or folks with internal organ issues. Low glucose also can happen when fasting before surgery or a blood test/s and after lengthy exercise. You should notify your doctor of your low glucose experiences ASAP. Ask your doctor how to adjust your Metformin dose if needed.
Avatar n tn Has anyone had a low blood sugar level during pregnancy im 8wks & 2days and i swaer im going to drop to the floor im not due back to my doctors till i am 12 wks.
Avatar m tn Hey Sassie, personally I wouldn't buy my supplements from Now foods. Never know what's actually in them, they don't do well on random testing. They're a discounter, and you know, you get what you pay for. Probably not a problem with glycine, as there's only two manufacturers of amino acids basically that make them for everyone, but just sayin'. There are different theories about blood sugar.
Avatar m tn Blood sugar fluctuates throughout the day; that's normal.. How often are you checking your blood sugar? Why would you check it every 15 minutes? Blood sugar varies throughout the day depending on what you eat and how much exercise you get. If you exercise, you should expect your blood sugar to go down; likewise, when you eat, you should expect it to rise. None of your blood sugar levels seem to be extreme, except maybe the one at 65, but even that's not "for sure".
325405 tn?1262290178 I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal? Right now, I'm testing about 100 to 110 in the morning and about 110 to 130 after meals. If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good?
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar n tn If I get up and check my blood sugar levels and I'm 105. After I have breakfast should I take my Metformin even though my sugar level is good?
