452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your help! I appreciate your feedback! I was wondering about the reactive hypoglycemia and if that's what it could be. This lower blood sugar after eating didn't start until my blood sugars were under the normal limits all throughout the day. I realize it wasn't that low but it was lower than what I was used to. Also, I was wondering if you might know about normal insulin levels? She checked my insulin level and it was 6, she said 0-25 was normal???
Avatar f tn Thought I was doing pretty well -- my highest 1 hour post prandial reading had been 140 -- until this afternoon. One hour after eating a tray of takeout sushi from the grocery store I got a reading of 236, immediately followed by a reading of 244 (to make sure it wasn't a machine error). Two hours, some aloe vera juice and a bit of exercise later, it was back down to 88. What does this indicate and how serious is it?
Avatar f tn There really is a whole lot more information that would help your question make sense. I'm assuming you are diagnosed Type II diabetic? What regimen are you on? Diet and exercise? Oral meds? Insulin? You are right that 44 is much too low and 255 is much too high. Your diabetes is obviously not under control. That should be your key goal, making changes in diet, exercise and medication so that, at least most of time your glucose is in range.
Avatar f tn Im a t2 diabetic n that is high even after eating it should be 130 or less 1hour after eating and in fasting it should be 90 or less i would call doctor n tell how high ur sugars are cuase that can harm baby
Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn You should check two hours after eating for a more reliable indication of diabetes or blood sugar problems, before a meal you should be between 70-99 and two hours after you should be 140 or below.
Avatar m tn Check if it can raise your blood sugar levels. Some high blood pressure medicine can raise the sugar levels. Know your body. It is the inly one you will have.
Avatar n tn If I get up and check my blood sugar levels and I'm 105. After I have breakfast should I take my Metformin even though my sugar level is good?
Avatar m tn Hello, a reading of 113 4 hours after lunch is still too high. By that long after eating levels should be back to fasting levels and 140. YOur target should be < 120 (and ideally < 100). Let us know.
Avatar f tn * Bedtime – to compare against morning fasting level Secondly, it appears you are experiencing what they call Reactive Hypoglycemia, which is low blood sugar that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Things to do to combat this: * Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart.
Avatar m tn I had went to the emergency last week because of some other symptoms that I have been having. They did a blood work up and my blood sugar level was at a 57. I hadn't eaten anything all day and by the time they had released me I had taken a couple of sips of my daughters sprite and it went up to 98. So the said I was fine. Since then I have been very worried about this so I decided to get myself a meter so that I could test myself.
Avatar m tn s may not do the trick but if you eat something that you think is going to make your blood sugar go up drink lots of water right after eating and it will equalize it self out i now this becuz when i was preg. with my daughter i had ges. diebetes. had to check my blood sugar 4 times a day.
Avatar f tn i have GD & they want me to test my blood sugar 2 hours after eating, & it should be under 120. some say 130. when fasting, or waking up in the morning it should be between 60-90.
304573 tn?1345577338 i have maintained healthy levels until the last few weeks and find my testing is showing higher than normal levels 3 hours after eating...also waking up with elevated levels in the morning(fasting)...just curious if the tx is exaserbating this or if i am slowing sinking into the type 2 which almost makes no sense as I am now eating for once in my life healthy and appropriately....
Avatar n tn I totally agree with the advice that has been given to you. Most articles that discuss normal ranges of blood sugar for people who are not diabetic list the range of "normal" as being between about 70-140. I believe that some doctors consider a blood sugar higher than about 150 after a meal as diabetic. So your son's sugar levels in the 200's do warrant some tests. We wish you the best.
Avatar n tn I have had a blood sugar test and gave a reading of 6.1 about 1 hour after a breakfast (Weetabix, Milk, Orange Juice). I have to go back and have repeat test but after having nothing to eat approx 9 hours beforehand....will this give an increased or decreased reading.
Avatar n tn Actually just took it again 30 min later now at 2 hour mark and the blood glocose readings after eating almost 2 bowls of oatmeal w/ skim milk is at: 117 ? Is this an ok number after 2 hrs ?
Avatar f tn My first question to you is do you get the shakes no matter what food you eat? 2) Or, the shakes specific to certain types of foods? Here's what I would do if I were in your shoes; ask the doctor for a referral to an Endocrinologist (diabetes specialist). I also suggest you start monitoring and keeping a log of foods you consume. Log what you eat, how much you eat and how you feel directly after, 1 hour, 2 and 3 hours later. Do this for every meal, including snacks.
Avatar n tn This sudden drop in blood sugar levels is due to your pancreas releasing too much insulin to counteract the sudden high blood sugar levels that occurred from eating the aforementioned food types. Blood sugars suddenly plunge below normal because of the release of insulin from the over reactive pancreas. When your glucose levels go high, suddenly drop, then rise again and yo-yo's this way throughout the day it wreaks havoc on your cardio system.
Avatar n tn In general, if your blood sugar level is below 100 mg / dL after fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours, then your blood sugar is normal. Blood sugar levels are usually lowest before each meal.
Avatar n tn Its just means that your sugar levels were a bit high but dont worry that happened to me and when i took the 3 hour test everything came back normal!
Avatar n tn You may also use blood sugar results to gauge the effects / benefits of exercise on your blood sugar levels.
Avatar m tn You say you were tested for diabetes? Well, sometimes low blood sugar can cause the sleepiness after eating, have you had a glucose tolerance test performed?
Avatar n tn s pedatrician for the day after Thanksgiving. I have checked his sugar a few times since my last post and all the levels have been in the normal range. I think I am going to lay off pricking his fingers (he hates it). And keep a close watch on him. I have also instructed his grandparents not to fill him up on cookies, candies and other carbs when he goes to their house. I may have gotten carried away. He is our only child and the light of our lives.
