Blood sugar levels after eating candy

Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar levels after eating candy

blood-sugar

Avatar n tn For the past few weeks I have eaten nothing but sugar packets. Thanks to Halloween I have candy but my blood sugar continues to drop so quick. It use to 2 hours before my blood sugar drops now it is every 30 minutes. Candy nor sugar is keeping it up. I live off $7/mo. Any advice?
Avatar n tn I totally agree with the advice that has been given to you. Most articles that discuss normal ranges of blood sugar for people who are not diabetic list the range of "normal" as being between about 70-140. I believe that some doctors consider a blood sugar higher than about 150 after a meal as diabetic. So your son's sugar levels in the 200's do warrant some tests. We wish you the best.
Avatar f tn * Bedtime – to compare against morning fasting level Secondly, it appears you are experiencing what they call Reactive Hypoglycemia, which is low blood sugar that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Things to do to combat this: * Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart.
Avatar f tn The only wat to know is to test your BG when you feel that way after eating sugar.
231441 tn?1333892766 I am also concerned because I would like to try to have a baby soon and realise this may be an issue. My maximum blood sugar after eating goes up to about 150. I have had glucose tolerance tests twice in the past few years, but both times had a relatively flat to negative curve (ie. 1 hr slightly raised compared to fasting, but 2 hr & 3 hr results are usually lower than the fasting level). Is all this ok?
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
Avatar m tn I had went to the emergency last week because of some other symptoms that I have been having. They did a blood work up and my blood sugar level was at a 57. I hadn't eaten anything all day and by the time they had released me I had taken a couple of sips of my daughters sprite and it went up to 98. So the said I was fine. Since then I have been very worried about this so I decided to get myself a meter so that I could test myself.
Avatar n tn apart from diabetes what else can cause your blood sugar levels to go really low
Avatar f tn Sounds like a call to your doctor that manages your blood sugar levels would be a wise thing to do, Tooter. Surely better to be safe than sorry, huh?
Avatar f tn Im a t2 diabetic n that is high even after eating it should be 130 or less 1hour after eating and in fasting it should be 90 or less i would call doctor n tell how high ur sugars are cuase that can harm baby
Avatar f tn You should check two hours after eating for a more reliable indication of diabetes or blood sugar problems, before a meal you should be between 70-99 and two hours after you should be 140 or below.
180395 tn?1287493997 Yes, you need some ready sugar / candy when you do have low blood sugar, but complex carbs at other meals to help keep things steady. Small snacks between meals may also help.
1173196 tn?1292916490 I had an episode like yours around 20wks and a blood test revealed my iron levels were really low compared to the begining of the pregnancy. It didn't come back up to normal levels even with just one 324mg pill per day, and I am on 2 per day now on top of my regular pre natals. All those dizzy spells I had went away after started taking iron pills. May be talk to your doctor about it.
Avatar n tn If I get up and check my blood sugar levels and I'm 105. After I have breakfast should I take my Metformin even though my sugar level is good?
1348086 tn?1370783185 Your blood sugar level of 111 after 5 hours of not eating, is not high, however, after 5 hours of not eating your blood sugar levels should have gone back down to fasting levels (these are ideally in the 70 - 95 range). Of course, there is the chance that the meter is old and not working properly.... However, best y ou get this looked into and adopt appropriate lifestyle measures, as mentioned.
Avatar m tn s may not do the trick but if you eat something that you think is going to make your blood sugar go up drink lots of water right after eating and it will equalize it self out i now this becuz when i was preg. with my daughter i had ges. diebetes. had to check my blood sugar 4 times a day.
304573 tn?1345577338 i have maintained healthy levels until the last few weeks and find my testing is showing higher than normal levels 3 hours after eating...also waking up with elevated levels in the morning(fasting)...just curious if the tx is exaserbating this or if i am slowing sinking into the type 2 which almost makes no sense as I am now eating for once in my life healthy and appropriately....
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar n tn The important numbers are what his blood sugars are prior to him eating any food. After he eats the blood check should be 2-3 hours after eating for accurate numbers, then it should be a little higher. Your doctor should be able to tell you what an acceptable range is for your son. i would only check his blood before eating for now unless the doctor stated other wise. Read the Nutritional labels on the foods that you feed him and make sure you are giving the correct portion size.
Avatar n tn I finally tested again after eating dinner and my sugar got to 90 but the odd thing is the more in range my sugar got the worse my head hurt almost like I had a hangover
Avatar n tn Hi, Can I ask what insulins you take? Are you on pump or MDI (multiple daily injections). Is your basal insulin taken once or twice a day. If you are going low from exercise, you may need to decrease your basal (this is easier if you are on a pump). Alternatively you may plan your exercise after eating and inject slightly less than usual insulin for the meal, as the exercise will naturally bring your blood sugars down.
Avatar n tn In normal children blood sugar will stay close to fasting levels all the time. Ie. his blood sugar is probably in the range of 70 to 90, regardless of what he eats. Actually in non-diabetic adults blood sugar will also stay close to fasting levels all the time.
Avatar f tn There really is a whole lot more information that would help your question make sense. I'm assuming you are diagnosed Type II diabetic? What regimen are you on? Diet and exercise? Oral meds? Insulin? You are right that 44 is much too low and 255 is much too high. Your diabetes is obviously not under control. That should be your key goal, making changes in diet, exercise and medication so that, at least most of time your glucose is in range.
Avatar m tn You say you were tested for diabetes? Well, sometimes low blood sugar can cause the sleepiness after eating, have you had a glucose tolerance test performed?
