1773108 tn?1314158067 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+.
Avatar f tn I agree with troytroy that you need to meet with a doctor or diabetic educater to learn the basics of diabetes care. First of all being continually over 130 for fasting blood sugar is too high. Your wife needs to have her doctor evaluate her medication regimen and see if something needs to be changed. Also I'm guessing you don't know much about diet and exercise to help control Type II diabetes and this is very important to learn.
Avatar f tn With blood sugar this high, you must drink plenty of fluids. Non sweetened. Water and unsweetened tea are ok. Do not take any carbohydrate containing foods until your blood sugars come down. If your numbers don't come down within a few hours you should go to the ER. You will need to see your doctor. maybe you need to start on insulin to help control your blood sugars. A low carbohydrate diet, and low glycaemic index foods may help you in controlling blood sugars.
Avatar n tn His blood sugars are NOT fine. A fasting level of 121 mg/dl is prediabetes.
1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
Avatar f tn That would be what would tell you how concerned you should be with your blood sugar number. What the doctor is watching whether you need some form of insulin to keep your sugar to a acceptable level.
Avatar f tn I have high blood sugars in the morning and was told this was a condition called Predawn Syndrome. Has anyone else heard of this or have it. Ask your doctor if this could be what you have too.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
Avatar f tn I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet, exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference. I m really worried.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar n tn Probably as soon add you get up and before eating. Remember to eat low carb and avoid Sugars, which will also help in blood sugar management.
Avatar m tn Rather than watch your blood sugar tests, watch the weight scale and eat healthy, clean. Metformin is given to type 2 diabetes that do not control blood sugar with exercise. Eat less, exercise more to burn up the layers of fat in your muscles and belly fat. High blood sugars tend to go up after exercise due to muscles and liver releasing stored glycogen. Increasing metformin is not the solution, rather exercise more and eat less.
Avatar f tn Super_Sally has great advice. I would add that you can ask your doctor about an insulin pump and maybe a continuous glucose monitoring system. It's a system that tests your blood sugar every 5 minutes and alerts you when it goes outside of the perimeters you set. Then the you can have the insulin pump deliver enough insulin to bring it back down to what you need. A friend of mine has one. She has type 1 and her sugars were out of control, getting up to the 400's daily.
Avatar n tn My daughter ( 7 yrs old) had her blood sugar tested at a dr appointment yesterday. It was taken about 4 hours after eating. It came back at 133. The dr wants to do a fasting check on her. Are her levels high?
Avatar n tn Hi, 223 is too high (is that blood sugar or blood pressure)? In either case it's too high. Most likley you have gestational diabetes with these numbers. Low carb eating and careful portion control will help with your blood sugar management. Worst case you will need to take medications / insulin. Please don't eat sugars now. Work with your doctor. Good blood sugar control is important for healthy pregnancy.
