Avatar f tn It is also possible to have elevated blood sugar if you fast for a longer than usual period. It is good that your subsequent tests were ok. Anyway, use this as your motivation to stay healthy. Minimize sugar and processed foods, exercise. A regular check of blood sugars every once in a while (and certainly every 6 months) is a good practice so you can monitor yourself over time.
Avatar f tn My blood sugar has recently been elevated. I have no family history of Diabetes. Could this elevation be due to side effects of some of these medications I'm taking?
Avatar m tn While you have shown improvement, your blood sugar is still elevated. Diabetes can often be managed with lifestyle changes, but you want to continue to track your blood sugar to make sure it continues to improve. It is important to remember that elevated blood sugar can cause damage to your kidneys and other organ systems. That is why it is so important to get your levels down.
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
Avatar m tn For diabetics, their body does not respond to the elevated blood glucose adequately. They need to control their blood sugar with changes to diet and exercise and often medication. Do you take any medications for your blood glucose? If you do not understand what changes you need to make, you should speak to your doctor about what is recommended for you specifically. Your doctor may have a sample diet menu or be able to recommend a nutritionist to help you understand the proper diet.
Avatar f tn m fearful of developing diabetes. Is the synthroid causing my blood sugar to rise? If so, how can I keep from developing diabetes? I'm not overweight (5'2", 111 lbs) and have exercised my entire life. Thank you.
Avatar n tn m trying to understand why 2 hours after meals my blood sugar is typically between 70 and 90 but nearly every morning after fasting all night it's typically 102-115. Avatar f tn Weight loss if you are overweight, and exercise are also very important for blood sugar control. At least 30 minutes of exercise once a day (or even better if you can make it longer or more than once a day), would help in controlling blood sugar.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
Avatar m tn So the temporary high will be well offset by the long term effect of that exercise. However, in a non-diabetic person blood sugar is very finely controlled and blood sugar will not vary much at all. A completely normal non-diabetic person (including athletes) will have blood sugars in the range of 70 - 120 all the time, with most numbers being at the lower end of this range (80-100). A completely normal a1c will be < 5.0 (about 4.3 - 4.6 is apparently typical).
Avatar f tn No, unfortunately, they are elevated blood sugars.
Avatar f tn You should check two hours after eating for a more reliable indication of diabetes or blood sugar problems, before a meal you should be between 70-99 and two hours after you should be 140 or below.
Avatar m tn A low carb (high natural fats, moderate protein) would be the way to reduce blood sugars. Exercise after each meal will also help.
Avatar n tn Stress can make your blood sugar rise. Have you noticed your blood sugars rise when you do one type of exercise as opposed to another? I'm just curious if you've seen any patterns.
Avatar f tn Last time this happened I vomitted, so I went to the walk in clinic right away, they said I have extremly low blood pressure. The doctor said to eat right before I exercise and drink a bottle of gadorade. I did exactly that before my next workout, but the exact same thing happened. I've given up on working out due to this, I have puffers but they don't help. What's wrong with me?? I'm a 22 year old, otherwise healthy female. Also, I take anxiety/depression medications.

Avatar n tn I hope you can get a blood sugar meter to monitor your blood sugar. if you use the meter then you will find out which foods raise your blood sugar and which don't, and then you can adjust your diet accordingly. hope this is helpful for you. Please do ask any further questions you have.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with mody diabetes, my blood sugar levels have been very stable since diagnosis through diet and exercise although they were quite high when I was diagnosed. I've had stable levels for about 6 weeks now and I thought these symptoms might go away sooner than that but I am seeing my doctor next week. It may well be neuro damage from having the condition for a while before diagnosis. Thanks again for your comments.
